r/PornIsMisogyny is a page on Reddit devoted to combatting the prevalence of pornography in our society. Their sidebar description as of November 2020 currently states:

This is a subreddit to raise awareness about the misogynistic nature of pornography. We want to raise awareness of the evils of porn and promote abstinence from pornography as a boycott on this toxic misogynistic industry.

I highly recommend checking out r/PornIsMisogyny for more information on the dangers of pornography and the facts about porn addiction.

The porn industry is indeed one gigantic pile of trash that takes advantage of vulnerable women and that normalises violence. Many former actresses have spoken out about it before and if one uses pornography to pleasure themselves inspite of knowing this, one is - essentially - "getting off" to sexual exploitation and teaching their brain to find it "hot".

Furthermore, pornography makes the consumer rely on the creepy fantasies of some degenerated director rather than using their own mind and preferences and it also comes with the risk of making men prefer pixels over actual women.

There are many more bad aspects and effects of pornography and it is just disgusting.

Where do these incels come from?

Do you think that women don't like sex or that we only do it under duress?
Most women would not seek out a career in porn. It is very clear that the women in the industry either come from a background of sexual abuse and/or have severe insecurities that make it easier for the porn-producers to lure them into doing messed up things on the camera for the whole world to see.

Pornography has nothing to do with "liking sex" and using "InCel" as an insult to invalidate someone's arguments is just immature and anti-intellectual. Also, it is abit misplaced since I am convinced "InCels" - if anybody - are the ones who prefer porn since they are men who cannot find partners, so I do not really see how that fits this context.

So pornography is empowerment for women? What about bukake?
There might be women out there that enjoy that. It's not for me to say. I'm pretty white bread in what I like but I am also not going to tell others what they can do when they are consenting adults.

The thing is that they are often not consenting. The industry is really, really, really messed up and the female stars are often forced to do things they do not want to do. Many former actresses have shared their stories and if you were to look them up you would be very sick and disgusted.

I think most actresses actually don't like what they are doing. They often come from a bad place and/or tragic childhoods. Afterall, it is not normal wanting to bang on camera for the whole world to see. 99% women would not even come to think of that.

I would suggest all men to stop using it because it is not good for anyone - Neither you nor the ones you are watching. If you have to use material it is much better to use more softcore materials and by softcore I mean women who have dressed up to look pretty and no nudity.

It's not about telling people what they can and can't do I don't know why you came up with that. It's about whether or not you believe pornography is empowering to women. that's why I asked the question that I did and not the question that you answered.

Pornography is little more than a broad genre of entertainment. It's like saying B horror movies are misogynistic. Many are, but the horror genre as a whole is not always inherently misogynistic.

One thing that finally soured me on porn is that it always seems to contain serious elements of coercion and aggression by at least one of the parties (often the man) involved.

I feel that every culture has its puritanical prudes who sees pleasure or anything a bit bad as evil. In the past we had our religious fundamentalists who didn't dance or celebrate holidays or hated violent video games and rock music. Today we have radical feminists who believe thinking about women sexually is sinful and misogyny. Personally I think its fine if its just fantasy and you aren't hurting anymore.

?? Who has to like their job right? Sometimes you dont. Lots of jobs are just a point on the way to the rest of your life, a means to get thru college, a side street on the way to planning a career.

Making a living, paying the bills, supporting a family? Making your own choices? That's empowering.

Porn is not empowering. Would you seriously encourage your sister, dauhter or female friend to enter porn if they presented the idea?

porn is evil and destructive and where is incels??

If you don't like it, don't watch it. Too easy.

I will watch it whenever I choose.

Years ago, when I used IRC, there was a woman in the room I hung out on who was a stripper, doing it to put herself through university. Not something I'd do, but absolutely her right to do it. And she doesn't have student loans to pay back.

Almost every incel is an emotional self-flagellator. They're the kind of people who fail at one simple task, whine that they can never do that task, convince themselves that they can never do that task, and then find a community of people who reinforce each other's infantile self-deprecation.

Here is a fantastic take on incels by an MtF trans woman.

The thing is actions that take place pretty much all begin in the human heart as mere "fantasies". How many rapists do you figure started off fantasizing about rape? I would imagine almost all of them.

I wouldnt encourage them to work at McDonalds or Starbucks or the movie theater snack bar either but anything can be a starting point. Not sure why you didnt address where I specifically stated how it can be. I believe in choice.

Porn USED to be "dirty movies" unconstrained by idiotic plots or corporate primping.
One reason porn even began to grow as an industry is because the Hayes Film Office began drastic clampdowns on what could or could not be screened in front of an audience in a public venue.

The Hayes office quickly became overrun with moral crusaders who, not satisfied with obscuring the occasional breast or buttock, insisted that people not even make casual references to sex in movie plots, and, through their influence on the FCC, even the word "pregnancy" could not be used on television.
Porn was a natural backlash and eventually porn became the "stag movie" industry.

Today commercial porn seems to resemble WWE wrestling. Ordinary sexy movies have been replaced by veritable circus acts. Few of the offerings resemble what ordinary consenting adults actually do in the privacy of their own homes and yet the "industry" is changing trends and styles as if it does.

For me, personally, I find sex scenes in regular films and TV more interesting....well, if done well anyway.
Episodes of Shameless or Game of Thrones float my boat a lot more than "Suburban MILF takes on NFL" or
"Logjammin" starring Karl Hungus and Bunny LaJoya.

Choice is overrated.

I agree.
When I was a youngster I used to stay up late on Friday nights cause one Station would always show an Italian or French movie. And, the only reason I watched was because I was going to see some titties and maybe the odd bush. But man it was exciting for a thirteen year old. Those movies aren’t made anymore. Internet Porn has completely changed the industry.

That's because a power dynamic fantasy is something very common. Completely balanced people in public may enjoy getting their genitals stepped on with high heels while wearing a ball gag in private.

Had to look that up. I’m a, whatever blows your hair back, kinda guy; but that’s unpleasant for everyone involved.
