Different... doesn't even touch the absurdity of this movie. It is outrageously absurd and ridiculous.
And wonderful at the same time.
Emma Stone is extraordinary in this movie. Amazing acting chops for someone her age.
But this is not going to be for everybody...
1) The sex scenes are over the top and many of them. I have no idea how this movie maintains only an "R" rating. It would have been X even 5 years ago.
It has scenes that are basically soft porn, no exaggeration.
2) It's absurdity is going to lose a lot of people.

For me - it is a spectacle. And seeing Emma Stone play this role is worth it for sure. Even though, the movie is about 20 minutes longer than it should have been.

We watched it in 30 minute increments at home because it was so much. It did seem a bit long and suddenly rushed at the end but it was good. Stone and Dafoe were great.

Only issue was that Stone was so thin it was distracting.

As a note i think this is the director that did the Favourite.

Ruffalo was awesome as well.
Now it is Hollywood, so naturally they made every male character deeply flawed, weak minded and the females all brilliant and easily manipulate the men.
But there is no escaping that theme for too many producers.

Another crazy movie that had to rest on sensationalism and porn to get a profit. Whatever happended to a quality story, quality acting, a story with some redeemable qualities portrayed, and movies the children could sit in the same room with.

I recently watched Poor Things and despite the over the top weirdness, I found the movie rather intriguing. I would not have watched it, but it just was after the Oscars and Netflix was airing it. I am glad Emma Stone won for her great performance!

I did not think the doctor (Baxter) was like that at all, actually.

I also liked the background. The wife and I joked we would have loved to be on that cruise ship.

We should note this is an adult film (R). On the flip side, unlike your average Marvel film, there is pretty much no violence (just one humorous tussle). That was quite refreshing.
