Polls: Voters Doubt Palin’s Qualifications While Obama Expands Lead

I totally agree. I am genuinely interested to see if her status goes up or down in the next month or so.

I'm going to wait to see what the polls show after the RNC. I'm interested to see the number of people who watch McCain's speech. ;)

I'm worried about the hurricane. Really bad timing.

In any event I can tell you right now that McCain's speech won't have as many people watching.

In my experience conservatives are more likely to watch both conventions, particularly the major speakers from both conventions. Libs on the other hand are more likely to watch only their own and young libs usually don't watch at all.

TV ONE covered the Democratic Convention but has no plans at all to show any of the Republican Convention.

The interesting thing for me is that the democrats seem to underestimate the republicans everytime even though they usually wipe the floor with them.I like the fact Obama actually seems to have some balls.

Yeah. I have wondered why they sort of shoot themselves in the foot like that. There's this whole period of over confidence which probably allows the lazy young folks to just assume they don't have to go out and vote because they believe they are going to win without a doubt.

I see the exact same attitude this time around. They need to be less confident to get those young people out there.

Why are you getting at the VERY people Palin is so far failing to recruit like it's their fault that they don't connect with Palin with posts like :

So then she's about as useful as a salt shaker in the Sahara?

That's great for McCain. I mean he's completely fail to get conservatives behind him. Now he's effectively lost the votes of moderates and centrists.

The last polls I saw had McCain rallying Conservatives behind him more that Obama rallies Liberals.

"Obama's support among Democrats fell 9 percentage points this month to 74 percent, while McCain has the backing of 81 percent of Republicans. Support for Obama, an Illinois senator, fell 12 percentage points among liberals, with 10 percent of liberals still undecided compared to 9 percent of conservatives."

I am sure that this has changed since the DNC convention, we will have to wait and see. I think the selection of Palin will only increase McCain's base with him as she is a true, credible Conservative. We will have to wait and see on that also.

I think the criticisms of Palin's experience will bring about more attention to Obama's experience issue. The first thing I read from the Obama campaign about Palin is that she lacked foreign policy experience, that could eventually draw attention to Obama in that department. Seeing as how Obama is on the top of the ticket, it will probably hurt him more in November. People will asked themselves, "If I cannot vote for McCain because of Palin's lack of experience, how can I justify voting for Obama? Wait! McCain has more experience!" That is another reason Palin's selection in ingenious.

Since when do the Republicans wipe the floor with the Dems? In the last sixteen years it's been Clinton/Bush...looks pretty even there. Who hold both houses of Congress? Exactly.

And I don't underestimate the GOP for the same reason I don't overestimate the Dems. Anything can happen here.

Well im glad you brought it up what have the democrats done since being in charge of congress? Dont forget Congress has a lower approval rating than Bush.

Its his election to lose.

Is there some decease going on where you're randomly posting talking points in an attempt to be relevant?

Do you not think if the polls are level the day before voting day that McCain will win?

Do I think that if the polls are level the day before voting day that McCain will win? Since they won't be. No.

For all his education and all the pomp over Obama, there is a simple bottom line. He is as liberal as a liberal can come, and all his policies will be liberal. He will tax you whenever and however he can, and build programs intend to help the poor, but never do. So, that's it, there is nothing more to say about Barack Obama.

Why do you get so angry Hatuey? Im pretty sure everyone thought this was a democrat year yet the polls dont match this idea could it be that the GOP have picked the only guy who can win for them and the dems have picked the only guy who could lose for them?

Psst. The 'polls' do show Democrats winning. Or are you confused?

Rasmussen Reports™: The most comprehensive public opinion coverage ever provided for a presidential election.

The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Saturday is the first to include reaction to both Barack Obama’s acceptance speech and John McCain’s selection of Sarah Palin to be his running mate. The numbers are little changed since yesterday and show Barack Obama attracting 47% of the vote nationwide while John McCain earns 43%. When "leaners" are included, it’s Obama 49% and McCain 45% (see recent daily results).

Obama currently leads by thirteen points among women while McCain leads by six among men. Among white women, the candidates are essentially even while McCain holds a substantial lead among white men (see other recent demographic observations).

Why do you open your mouth? PeteEU doesn't know what he's talking about 90% of the time. You're just off 99%.

It could also mend open wounds for those who blame the GOP for Katrina disaster recovery. They are very organized for it this time.

In my prayers for no lives lost.

It could be more miserable failure too. Will the levees hold? Will the pumps work?

I hope no lives are lost either.

I'm seriously wondering how Dobson's going to address this to his congregants this Sunday.

Is he just going to ignore Hurricane Gustav, or is he going to take the approach, you know, "We were wrong to pray for God to intercede on our behalf by flooding the Democratic national Convention, and now God has sent Gustav to ruin the RNC as punishment for our presumption", or is he going to bring up the possibility that it's the Republicans God actually hates, not the democrats... and then reject that possibility by claiming that God works in mysterious ways and we must hold on to our faith even though we can't always comprehend His divine plan?

I dont open my mouth i type.

I just guessed you like to bleat so I aimed for the nearest human action.

Time will tell as long as democrats like you keep running your mouth the better the GOP will do.

Well keep hoping for that strategy. So far whatever the Democrats are doing is winning Obama the oval office.

You can see anger from a screen? Well aren't you the resident mind reader. ;)

I dunno...in a political sense, I see it as a lose-lose for the GOP. Regardless of how it turns out, it will bring back memories of people sitting on their rooftops during Katrina. If everything goes (relatively) well, then it won't be a big news story and people will say that comparisons with Katrina aren't valid. If everything goes badly, then the Obama camp could blame it on George Bush and it will distract from the GOP convention.

Well im glad you brought it up what have the democrats done since being in charge of congress? Dont forget Congress has a lower approval rating than Bush.

I know this, yet the Dems still control Congress and will strengthen that hold in November. Remember, nearly half of Congress is made up of Republicans.

And this only matters to people who really think like you do. The rest of us see a different picture of the man and his policies and the future of our country. So you are wrong, there is a lot to say about this man. And in case you didn't get the memo, according to the last voter turn out, the Dems/Libs currently outnumber the Reps/Cons. So when you make your subjective insinuation that liberalism equals bad, you really aren't gaining any ground.

Call me miss cleo but are you honestly telling me you would think it wold be this close?

What's not to like? That she likes to fish?

I think once people find out that she represents the extreme right-wing of the GOP....it explains McCain's double pandering....and people are going to see through it all.
