Polls: Voters Doubt Palin’s Qualifications While Obama Expands Lead

I think once people find out that she represents the extreme right-wing of the GOP....it explains McCain's double pandering....and people are going to see through it all.

I think people already see it.
The moderates I've spoken to today are horrified.
They believe Palin is far more a conservative extremist than McCain, whom most moderates and even a fair number of liberals actually don't despise.... not like they despise, say, Bush.
She's quite the bible-thumping pill, apparently.

Who was the guy praying for rain in Denver?

A) The Lord works in mysterious ways

or

B) Karma's a bitch.

Actually I did see some fool on the news say God was trying to send people a reminder of what happens under Bush, thus New Orleans is under threat again.

I thought that was freaking moronic. But I thought it was worse that the news gave the guy the time of day. I don't know who he was.

That's pretty lame. I hate it when people are that moronic and give it a stage.

They simply don't know who she is - yet.

She is an evangical christain, frankly that is enough. Fair enough she is not as anti-homosexual as her fellow conservative christains, but frankly they are a scary people. Do Americans really want a member of the christain right a heartbeat away from the presidency??

To be honest at the start I thought she was a good pick at the start, now Im steadily not too sure. It is a massive gamble.

RedState: Tale of the Tape: Sarah Palin vs. Barack Obama

I think once people find out that she represents the extreme right-wing of the GOP....it explains McCain's double pandering....and people are going to see through it all.

When will you realize that most of the country is moderate? Here's what WSJ reporter Paul Gigot wrote last August. He is quoting and referring to former Presidential Adviser Karl Rove, who has since retired:

He says young people are if anything more pro-life and free-market than older Americans, and that, despite the difficulties in Iraq, the country doesn't want to be defeated there or in the fight against Islamic terror. He recalls how Democrats thought driving the U.S. out of Vietnam would also help them politically. "Instead, Democrats have suffered ever since on national security," he says.

And the way that Sarah Palin might be thought to be right wing most of the country kinda likes. Hunting, fishing, pistol packin, working mom, down to earth, straight talking, traditional values, God fearing, Union member and a VPILF!

:rofl

God, I sincerely hope he doesn't consider himself a Democrat. I would hate to have to join the GOP again just to get away from him.

While I agree that Michael Moore can be a jerk, why would ONE PERSON have the ability to impact which party you join? That sounds terribly insecure on your part.

I'll repost this here, it seems appropriate for this thread.

Obama gained a lead because of the DNC convention, as expected. From what I have seen, he went from tie, to an 8 point increase over John McCain (Gallup Polling).

Lets look at some of the recent poll jumps for candidates after their DNC conventions:

Carter's reelection effort saw a 10 point increase after his convention

Mondale saw an 8 point increase

Dukasis saw a 7 point increase

Gore saw an 8 point increase

None of them won the election.

Clinton had a grand 16 point increase and won. He ran on Conservative platforms as did Carter the first time. The only two Democrat Presidents to get elected in recent times did so with Conservative platforms.

My point here is that polling after DNC conventions seems meaningless. Yes, they know how to talk nice at their conventions and they know how to draw a lot of attention and enthusiasm, but when all is said and done, an 8 point increase does not mean very much.

Could all that change this year? Possibly, we will see.

Conventions Typically Result in Five-Point Bounce

Some will never admit she's qualified because they don't feel a woman can run the country.

I think some women can run the country--but a woman who has been a governor of a small state (it's not like she's the governor of California) who has not shown any interest in world affairs, including the war in Iraq, and just got a passport in the last couple of years--no, I don't think she can run the country.

I would be interested in what Ahminajad might try to pull with a female President. If someone is an expert on the subject please respond with any speculation.

But I have confidence that Palin and her team could handle it, if she were President. And that is the same for Hillary, by the way. Or Condi.

I am still curious why many are comparing Palin's credentials to Obama's. Palin isn't running for President.

It's called the "oh ****" defense. They have to do something because they are realizing that McCain hasn't been the best choice. Now they are relying a brand new governor and tiny former town mayor/sports caster to save the GOP.

No she aint, but she closer to the Oval office than Biden ever will be :)

Like it or not McCains age and health issues means that whoever he picked as VP had to be seriously ready to take over. I know the right deny this, but then again the right usually have their head in the ground when it comes to their own candidates.

Yes she is. McCain could croak the day after Election Day for all we know.

Can McCain honestly claim with a straight face that she was the best choice for this job? What happened to "Country First"?
