Every year, the Canadian government allows sealers to beat, skin, and kill hundreds of thousands of baby seals for their fur. Many of these pups have their heads bashed in or are shot before they even get a chance to eat their first solid meal or learn how to swim. So what is an easy step that we can all take to help stop the Canadian seal slaughter?

You can help end Canada's annual war on seals by boycotting a product that is vital to the country's economy: maple syrup. Canada produces approximately 85 percent of the world's maple syrup, with the U.S. as its largest consumer, and by buying this Canadian product, you are supporting Canadian cruelty. By pledging to boycott Canadian maple syrup, you'll be speaking up for baby seals in Canada, for whom life isn't so sweet, and telling Canada that you won't support its product until you can support its practices.

Bunch of racists.

You know, I believe that you're bright enough to make your case without resorting to calling people racists.

Personally, I'd like to take a club to the seal harvesters -- with great vigor and passionate enthusiasm.

That said, it makes very little sense to punish innocuous Maple farmers in retaliation.

Oh I am... too bad you're not bright enough to tell what a joke is.

Why?

It shows PETA's ignorance if they think that boycotting maple syrup is going to hurt Canadian economy. They not only know nothing about the seal hunting tradition, they are too stupid to even know what Canada's major exports are.

That was a joke?

I get it!

You write for David Letterman!

For the admittedly illogical reason that I am fond of small, furry, intelligent baby creatures with big, liquid brown eyes.

Sue me.

I consume so little syrup that boycotting it would be meaningless, and I suspect that goes for most of us.
Hey, let's do this, let's stop buying their oil and their electricity!!
Now THAT will make a statement....:2razz:

I'm disappointed in this thread.

I thought PETA was inciting boycott on behalf of the trees that get "tapped". It's such a horrendous affair; I can still hear the faint screams of trees losing their precious pancake-sauce.

Canadian maple syrup is made from baby seals? No wonder it tastes so good.

I wonder if their bacon is made from baby seal too?

I'll boycott the syrup, but there's no way I'm boycotting the baby seal industry.

I-Hop is going to introduce a new seal shaped pancake.

You have to eat it with a wooden club... And lots of red syrup.

I hope they're still able to sell Thin Mints (TM) whenever they're under phase four.

Otherwise, I don't think I will be any part of this.

In the new utopia called the Pinniped's Republic of Canadia, thin mints will grow on trees.

Official Canadian Response said:
In light of this vicious attack on our not particularly vital maple syrup industry, from this day forward, all pancakes and Waffles in Canada will be smothered in baby seal fat and served with baby seal eggs.

Sincerely,

Canada

The Canadian response was swift and decisive!

I think people do need to stop clubbing baby seals, they don't tip, they make horrible wing-men, they're joke/story toppers, and worst of all, they always make excuses to leave early like dehydration, not liking the crowd, poor seafood menu, etc. Geez, I can't believe people are still clubbing baby seals.

Oh, and I am NEVER giving up my maple syrup, especially for a stupid disjointed reason that a worthless organization like PETA is presenting, now, if it had a good chance of causing anal cancer/leakage, yeah, maybe we'll talk.

You see, and America has been doing its damndest to speed up the melting of the polar caps, so as to kill off the polar bears that prey on baby seals, and then what does Canada do? They **** up all our hard work, by killing the baby seals anyway. Some ****ing ally.

They've always been kind of passive aggressive and backstabby, when you think about it.

When I saw the title of the thread I thought it was going to be about PETA wanting to rename maple syrup into "tree blood" or something equally ridiculous. Considering their antics it certainly wouldn't surprise me.
