So now we have to consider events that never happened.....whew....man that is really a stretch...

I should know better than to respond to you, but in this case I'll make an exception.
There is a hell of a difference in asking how he thinks he would have responded personally than you speculating about how other people would have responded.
These students were maybe guilty of a misdemeanor, nothing more, why do you think excessive force is needed to remove them?OK... For those of you who think the police were out of line, please tell me in your opinion, exactly what the police should have done to enforce the law in this situation?
How is it trolling to respond to a post that says "yes, do exactly as the government says, when it says so " with "I bet if government scientists told you to do/not do something, because it would help prevent global warming, you would give them your 100% support."? Its like when one poster says the 2nd amendment should be banned or heavily restricted because semi-automatic weapons did not exist in the 1700s and another poster responds with neither did cars, telephones, computers and etc.
I didn't say anyone did, but the potential is there. Besides the tragic loss of life the lawsuits would be astronomical.Who died?

Now let's at least try and be honest here. Access to the sidewalk in a permitted event is far different from blocking the actual sidewalk in direct defiance of police order to move. Isn't it now.

Why fire the officer?
Yes. I agree. Though, let's be honest here, I would not support them being pepper sprayed as well, even if they were practicing non-violent civil disobedience.
It's absolutely incredible what behavior against human beings people find tolerable when the human beings in questions hold an opposing viewpoint.
I remember when conservatives were complaining because the tea partiers were frequently depicted as ignorant racists by the media, but pepper-spraying nonviolent protesters whose main complaint is that Wall Street holds too much sway in American politics? Well, that's just okey dokey.
How would video of their being mandhandled by mulitiple cops, pried apart from one another in front of a jeering crowd, make you feel any better about this?
Whether you believe it right or not, the right exists and MUST be recognized and upheld to its maximum. It is one of the consequences and repercussions of freedom. If you seek a free State, you MUST have the resolve and conviction to KEEP a free State.
Back in the 50's and such, the anarchists were allowed to preach open revolt and violence against the government. We've fallen a long way since there.

If that were the actual message that all agreed with I could get on board. But it isn't is it now? Anti Semitic, Anti Capitalism, Anarchy, and general abolishing of what this country is. It runs the gambit, and no cohesive message can be found.
I mean if Crony Capitalism were the solid message then they would be protesting outside 1600 Pennsylvania ave. now wouldn't they?
Nah, this is a bunch of spoiled brats that don't want to pay back their student loans, and think it is unfair that their Bolivian underwater basket weaving degree won't land them a job over 16K

The fact that you think your opinion on the validity of the protest holds any bearing towards how they should be treated is off-putting indeed.
Occupy Wall Street is a people-powered movement that began on September 17, 2011 in Liberty Square in Manhattan’s Financial District, and has spread to over 100 cities in the United States and actions in over 1,500 cities globally. #ows is fighting back against the corrosive power of major banks and multinational corporations over the democratic process, and the role of Wall Street in creating an economic collapse that has caused the greatest recession in generations. The movement is inspired by popular uprisings in Egypt and Tunisia, and aims to expose how the richest 1% of people are writing the rules of an unfair global economy that is foreclosing on our future.
That still happened. That's how the police are taught to handcuff. As you can see in this video, they pepper spray they students, but then they still have to grab them one by one and drag them out, turn them over, and handcuff them.
By the way, it took me an exhaustive six seconds to find Occupy Wallstreet's message on google.

Read that paragraph carefully and you'll find nothing about antisemitism, anarchy or the abolishing of this country.
So now that you know what their message is, Jmac, are you on board?
What was wrong with the idea of getting up and walking away? Other than the fact that they would not have been arrested for doing so.
What's wrong with the ideal of honoring the rights and liberties of the individual?
