merits aside, it is common perception that unless congress acts in THIS lame duck, dadt is doa under the new house delegation
that is, leadership needs to act NOW or NEVER if this matter is to be resolved outside the courts, the president's repeatedly professed preference
fortunately or unfortunately, leadership here, as elsewhere, is lacking
On World AIDS Day, the man who first sounded the alarm about the AIDS epidemic and shamed the government into action for a decade, had some choice words for President Obama. In an interview with the New York Daily News about growing older with HIV, Kramer, now 75 and writing a novel about America and AIDS, offered up his views on the current president.
“Mr. Do-Nothing Obama will say today ‘Lets think of all the poor dead people’- or ‘let’s honor all the dead’ instead of fighting for the living. "He has been really useless in terms of both HIV and gay issues. An exceedingly large disappointment to me, how useless he has been. He is simply not a leader. He may be president, but he is not a leader.”
On World AIDS Day, Larry Kramer, who first warned of epidemic, rips 'Do-nothing' Obama
do you disagree?
either way, it's doa, as mitch mcconnell, on behalf of all 42 united, today declared in writing ALL legislation LAME until congress deals with its exigent responsibilities
ie, resolution on the 2011 income tax and continuance of the various appropriations, which expire december 3, required to keep the govt operating, after congressional leadership inexplicably punted, offering NO BUDGET resolution for 2011

Dems won
finally, i hope it is not wandering too far afield here to note, today being AIDS day, that george w what's-his-name, say what you will about him, was a model of compassion, concern and caring when it came to this scariest of scourges
Rock star Bono praises Bush for AIDS plans
indeed, george w, if you look at him dispassionately, may be recognized as, perhaps, one of the leaders in all world history when it comes to combatting hiv
and he acted upon his humanity, if i recall correctly, with pretty much universal support from republicans across the country
