By William Lajeunesse said:House Speaker Nancy Pelosi recently told a group of both legal and illegal immigrants and their families that enforcement of existing immigration laws, as currently practiced, is "un-American."
The speaker, condemning raids by Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents, referred to the immigrants she was addressing as "very, very patriotic."
"Who in this country would not want to change a policy of kicking in doors in the middle of the night and sending a parent away from their families?" Pelosi told a mostly Hispanic gathering at St. Anthony's Church in San Francisco.
"It must be stopped....What value system is that? I think it's un-American. I think it's un-American."
She's a huge offender of labor laws in the first place, hires mostly illegals as contract workers, part owner of a couple of plants in American protectorates exempt from the minimum wage(surprise surprise) etc. No wonder she doesn't want one of her resources eliminated by that pesky enforcement duty of INS.Pelosi Tells Illegal Immigrants That Work Site Raids are Un-American.
While I am no fan of some of the enforcement tactics, I think that Pelosi is really off base with what she is doing here. We should not be letting illegal immigrants get the idea that it's okay to be here illegally. And I think essentially that is what she is doing. With the economy the way it is we need to be thinning the herd a bit and reducing the number of entitlement dependent people in the U.S. Starting with illegal immigrants.
While I disagree with the armed LEO's raiding houses and separating parents from children thing, I truly believe we have to make this country a nice place to visit, but not stay (unless you're legal). Penalizing employers heavily and cutting off welfare benefits are a start. Traveling around telling groups of people, some of whom are presumably illegal immigrants, that anti-immigration enforcement is un-American is ridiculous. Workplace enforcement of immigration laws is necessary.
Pelosi should step down.

This is not news to those of us who know that Pelosi has never been right on just about everything.
But this also isn't just about Pelosi; Pelosi is no different than the majority of Democrats who feel and act the exact same way, particularly those Democrat members from the state of California.
It is encouraging, however, to see the Liberals who voted for these buffoons start to get it; they say that recognizing the error of one's ways is the first stage to recovery.
I can not wait until the midterm elections and she falls with a thud
What makes you think she is going to get ousted? You do realize she's held that seat since 1987 and won by a huge majority in every regular election she's ran in right? The Dems have held the 8th District since the late 40's. She's not going anywhere unfortunately.
Like Barney Frank & Maxine Waters the said truth is Pelosi probably isn't going anywhere.
And you know, that really is pretty sad. She is so loud and so out in left field she makes it hard on other Dems/Libs. Guilt by party association.
I didn't vote for Pelosi (even if I lived in her state and district I wouldn't have) and have never liked her.
Many Democrats have very good ideas, some don't.
Many Republicans have very good ideas, some don't.
The Republicans in Congress are just as guilty as the Democrats on screwing this country with regard to illegal immigration.
The difference between you and I seems to be that I can lay down my partisanship on this issue and call a spade a spade.
And you know, that really is pretty sad. She is so loud and so out in left field she makes it hard on other Dems/Libs. Guilt by party association.
Illegal jobs shouldn't need protection. Why? Because they shouldn't be illegal.
Immigrants should easily and quickly be able to get work visa's and shouldn't be pushed to work illegally.

No, I didn't. You spin this anyway you want, but I didn't vote for Pelosi. Your hyper partisan is showing again.Wrong; you voted FOR Pelosi when you voted and sided with a Democrat majority on the false partisan Rhetoric that Republicans were corrupt and spending away our surplus into deficits.
I've actually voted for Roy Blunt and Kit Bond because I like what they have done for my state and my district.By the way, who DID you vote for? What Senator of Congressperson? Let’s see if their policies are so much different from Pelosi’s.
Yes I was and I have no problem with that. I don't have to agree with everything he does, he's doing many things that I wanted him to do. You can't have it all.We all know you were all over it for Obama.
Sorry TD, I won't let you shout me down with your typical hyper partisan rhetoric again. You bloviate way too much like this. Really you should be more concise and just type "I HATE DEMS AND LIBS AND MY IDEAS ARE BETTER BECAUSE I SAY THEY ARE!" It's all you really ever end up saying.Wrong; MOST Democrats have terrible ideas and pander to the ignorant masses with Government largess in order to hold onto the political power they desire more than they care about what is GOOD for the country.
I know, I was there. On this point you would be correct.
Right, you go ahead and stick with this. And what did the Republicans in Congress actually do?I am not sure how anyone can arrive at this contorted conclusion. When Bush attempted to reform immigration he was viciously attacked by Republicans as being FOR amnesty.
Hogwash. It's ambivalence on Congress' part on this matter. It's been a problem through Republican and Democratic presidencies and congressional majorities. Don't even pretend that you are going to get away with framing this up in a manner that allows your hyper partisan rhetoric to actually bloom red flowers.Democrats more than Republicans can be blamed for looking the "other" way when it comes to illegal immigration and Pelosi, whom you rightfully expose, is not in the minority but rather in the majority opinion when it comes to Democrats attitudes towards illegal immigration.
:roll:This made me laugh. You never lay down your "partisan" issues; you're just attempting to look like someone who does.
You are certainly consistent, I'll give you that. It's not necessarily a good thing either. The difference between you and I is that I can recognize an inconsistency when I see it.
I sure did because the Republicans proved to me they are just as bad if not worse.YOU voted for and supported Democrat majorities,
Blah blah blah bloviating and such....wallowed in the lies and distortions that it took to win them,
I've never liked Pelosi and this isn't a new issue. You keep building that box though.and now you are reaping what you sowed and don't like what you are starting to see.
The notion that you can find any "rabid" liberal partisanship in my posts is quite amusing to anyone with enough intellectual horsepower to actually register for this forum. The notion that you can set aside your rabid Liberal Partisanship is quite amusing to me.
You actually think she is different than Barney Franks, Maxine Waters, Harry Reid, Schumer, Biden.....etc etc etc.....
It begs the question, where have you been? :rofl
I agree with that, if people from other countries need the work and we cannot find domestic labor to fill the jobs we need to facilitate some temporary solutions, I also have no problem with the work visa having a provision for full citizenship, let's get the illegal immigration problem under control using creative methods as well as enforcement, instead of being only heavy handed and forcing immigrant problems into the shadows.Illegal jobs shouldn't need protection. Why? Because they shouldn't be illegal.
Immigrants should easily and quickly be able to get work visa's and shouldn't be pushed to work illegally.
I also agree with this, in the event that we could implement sweeping welfare reform requiring some form of work we could alleviate the above problems, labor demand requires a supply, which is an enticement for companies and illegals to subvert immigration law, if we forced people to work we would easily fill said labor demands internally. It costs money to relocate legal labor from mexico, for example
it costs a little less money, or maybe even more, to relocate legal labor w/i America's borders
its costs NO MONEY to let illegals relocate to where a labor shortage is
there is no national labor shortage in the use
there is regional and local shortages
