As usual, the occupiers don't let us down and deliver our daily laugh.

OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) - A day of demonstrations in Oakland that began as a significant step toward expanding the political and economic influence of the Occupy Wall Street movement, ended with police in riot gear arresting dozens of protesters who had marched through downtown to break into a vacant building, shattering windows, spraying graffiti and setting fires along the way.

I get my daily laugh from the far right here having to being a new thread each day on the same subject because they are so afraid of it.:mrgreen:

They growing more out of control everyday. So I'm very concerned, yes. I can't imagine how anyone can see this as a good thing.

So, how many attacks on the right are we in for, for daring to post the facts about these people?

And... How many "These are isolated incidents and don't represent the movement" excuses are we in for?

In New York, about 100 military veterans marched in uniform and stopped in front of the New York Stock Exchange, standing in loose formation as police officers on scooters separated them from the entrance. On the other side was a lineup of NYPD horses carrying officers with nightsticks.

"We are marching to express support for our brother, (Iraq war veteran) Scott Olsen, who was injured in Oakland," said Jerry Bordeleau, a former Army specialist who served in Iraq through 2009.

The veterans were also angry that returned from war to find few job prospects.

That's not funny, man - it's actually really disturbing that things are heading in this direction.

You know what could happen if this aspect increases - worsens - and escalates?

Because not all of us are blinded by partisan hackery.

The government may learn who's really in charge. Perhaps the tree of liberty will be refreshed.

Changes which benefits average working people instead of favoring those at the top?

In every sense this is beautiful...people who are sick of government and corruption and their collusion, band together and voice their concern in the most visual and poignant way possible all across the country and the globe for that matter.

If this was in any other country we would have cheered and them on. So why is that Constitutional loving Republican and Conservative wanne be so freaking afraid of their own people and citizens?

If you are so scared at night...think of them as Real TeaParty and its sustain and viral movement you wish you had!

Not too late you can still learn from it!

Stop hating Americans!

Riots are beautiful... Says the phony conservative.

LMAO

Oh - you think positive change is going to come from this? some of these issues being protested against are NOT things the government can just snap it's fingers and fix - and people are crossing the line in their efforts to force the piece to fit where it doesn't belong.

I'm not disillusioned - I see this easily dissolving into more violence - military vs military - and civil war. That potential direction is VERY disturbing to me.

No one will benefit from that - no one.

I think a true conservative wouldn't necessarily be opposed to all "riot".

But...you get to shoot at the government. That's certainly a benefit.

Components of the Military turning on and shooting at the government . . . Hardly amusing to me.

Amusing is something else, but this is a benefit in many ways. It's a necessity from time to time in order to teach the government who is in charge; that they are bound to us, not their Corporate friends.

It sucks having to do it, we have spread it out quite a long way now; but violence against the government is not always a bad thing and could sometimes improve things.

One of the protest leaders, Boots Riley, touted the day as a success, saying "we put together an ideological principle that the mainstream media wouldn't talk about two months ago."

His comments came before a group of demonstrators moved to break into the Travelers Aid building in order to, as some shouting protesters put it, "reclaim the building for the people."

This is what happens when there are no effective leaders or even a cohesive objective. When you have thousands of people like this leader in a mob, all it takes is one or two people to yell "let's take that building back!!" and you end up with this latest event.

I really don't see this whole OWS movement ending up anywhere...but badly.

Really: the potential civil war that could errupt - all over some stupid ****ing corporatism and bad fiscal policies?

Wow - and here I thought such serious EXTREME measures were best reserved for Hitler or Gaddafi . . . my bad for not thinking of it with such foggy happy glasses on.

I really don't think we'd go full out Civil War over this. There's potential for violence, but nothing of the scale of a full scale revolt. A bit of rebellion, possibly. But rebellion is necessary from time to time.

100 Marines join in on he protesting because of what happened to one od their own. You don't think that will grow to more? Well. I really hope it doesn't.

Agreed. This is really rather minor stuff. People need to go back to the Gilded Age and read about the unrest in that period to gain some perspective.

It wont other than IVAW types, us veterans know Scott Olsen as not "one of our own".

No, I do not see this as having the possibility of turning into full revolt. At most it would turn out to be a moderate rebellion.

I'm well aware of history which is why I don't see a happy ending here.

Am I the only one who thinks that it's a little strange that creating a bonfire is being seen as an act of violence? The protesters weren't burning anything specifically. The fire was in the middle of the street, and was controlled. It wasn't going to spread to buildings, certainly not over a paved, blacktop road. There was no aggressive act that would justify the use of violence by the police in this instance. Nothing escalated beyond simply blocking the harbor until police attacked the protesters.

But all that aside, rights and freedoms aren't won by politely asking for them. They're won by starting some sh*t.
