How ignorant some people can get!

Imagine that, declaring war on peace, now I've heard everything!

Peace on earth? Not in our subdivision! - CNN.com

DENVER, Colorado (AP) -- A homeowners' association in southwestern Colorado has threatened to fine a resident $25 a day until she removes a Christmas wreath with a peace sign that some say is an anti-Iraq war protest or a symbol of Satan.

Some residents who have complained have children serving in Iraq, said Bob Kearns, president of the Loma Linda Homeowners Association in Pagosa Springs.

He said some residents believed the wreath was a symbol of Satan. Three or four residents complained, he said...

"Homeowners' associations" are some of the most vile manifestations of meddlesome, intolerant suburbia and their attempts to pretend that the only things that exist in the world are those they approve of.

I have yet to see a single homeowner's association decision that shouldn't have been answered by gunfire.

...a symbol of Satan.
Yes, it is a little known fact that a peace symbol is actually a symbol of Satan. It is an upside down cross with arms broken in mockery of Jesus.

If you don't want to live under the rules of a home owner Assoc. then find another ****ing place to live. Damn, some of you people are morons. How hard is it to follow rules you agree to BEFORE buying a home. If you wanted your freedom to express yourself then don't buy a home in a neighborhood that has a HOA.

BTW, people have fined for putting up flag poles and flying the American flag in their front yard........but not a word from you anti Americans then about their freedoms being denied because you see the American flag as evil.

Some Conservative you are. Your post is more reflective of a collectivist (a feature of Communism). And before you start calling fellow members morons, you ought to read the terms and conditions of this forum.

Finally, I am thinking how the rules of a subdivision already included a provision for X-mas wreaths with peace signs on them. I doubt that. This is pure abuse of power, and can be remedied in the courts.

Any guesses how long Cold Dirt lasts here? I'm guessing 10 posts.

I'm not big on guns, but this is one instance where I'm in complete agreement. How many times have I wanted to just take a shot at the HOA "administrators" - do absolutely nothing of benefit aside from that of themselves.

Our homeowners association leader Adolph (well he goes by Vern) made us fix our driveway, costing us a few thousand bucks, and it got put in the rules after we moved in. You've got to admit that's pretty authoritarian lol

Can you give a source for this? I've never heard of fines for American flags in the front yard. Once I saw someone with a confederate flag in their yard, but I don't think that neighborhood had a HOA...

What baffles me is that these homeowners associations have the power to override the constitution, I don't understand why.

Damn, you got me. :doh I regularly go around finding flags to spit on! I also pray to an idol of Hilary on a daily basis. :2wave:

10 posts? You only have 4 more, better make the best of them.

Damn Straight!...I have no sympathy for people who read the rules and then sign the agreement only to complain about the rules at a later date!

And if the rules change at a later date after the initial signatures?

And if the rules change at a later date after the initial signatures?

That would be another matter, one should fight for their rights! I'm referring to the people that knowingly sign their approval to existing rules and complain about the rules after the fact. I see it all the time...example..a few miles away from me there is a popular gun club. This gun club has been here for 40 years. Someone got the bright idea of buying up the surrounding land and starting a housing development! You guessed it..after about 25 homes were built they did their best to shut down the gun club and failed. These people knew full well about the noise at the gun club! The property was cheap for that reason. They built anyway thinking they could shut em down after the fact. I have a friend who bought a Condo..he is also a Ham Radio operator. The rules stated that he could not put up a tower,he bought the condo anyway! He put up a 45 foot tower and all heck broke loose. I have no sympathy for these idiots.

And I'm even more angry about that. See, I don't make distinctions between people being allowed to express opinions I agree with, and people being allowed to express opinions I disagree with-- but I do make a distinction for the right of American citizens to take pride in this country and everything it stands for.

And that's what these tyrannical parasites are desecrating with their goose-stepping hivemind whitebread suburban fascism. And that's something that every red-blooded American has a moral obligation to protect from anyone-- foreign or domestic-- who tries to subvert it.

Like what happened to me with my driveway, and those nazis still made us fix it.

Our Gram hired lawyers on six different occasions and won every single time against her HOA, they leave her alone now. Mind you she's very well off so she can afford to piss them off and it keeps her entertained so she does.

I love how they throw the military children thing in there for the sympathy vote, as if military children don't want peace or want their parents off fighting every other year of their lives.

To my knowledge, they aren't legally allowed to hold you to rules you did not agree to initially.
That's how it is with leases, anyway.
If another rule or clause is added, it will appear on the next lease you sign; the only rules you are obligated to acknowledge or follow in the interim are the rules on the last lease you signed. Those terms you agreed to are the only ones you're obligated to follow.
Same with rent; they can't raise your rent in the middle of, say, a six-month lease.
When you renew your lease and sign a new lease agreement, that's when they can renegotiate the terms of said lease.

Like, say you signed a six-month lease saying you could have a pet, and then two weeks later the building decided to ban pets from the premises. They could not make you get rid of yours as long as your current lease was in effect (if they tried, you'd have a good case against them in court). But when your lease expired, they could offer you a new lease with different terms (ie, no pets). Then your only choices would be to get rid of your pet, or to decline to renew your lease and look for another place to live.

Yeah, see, I never understood the bullshit from these guys. ie - you can not keep your garage door open? I mean seriously, what the **** is up with that? To those that make up these pathetic and ridiculous rules here's a food for thought - go **** yourself.

Heard of the "community" somewhere in Florida where they banned a certain breed of dogs because aside from, "coincidentally", the breed that the HOA presidents dog all others were basically considered to be incompatible with the community. There is no longer any contracts signed with HOA's after the initial purchase then how are these guys allowed to make new conditions from then on? Just a bunch of loooooooooooosers (just because it pisses of Regan) with no other authority looking for a power trip.

One step closer to a society with no freedom of speech I guess. Isn't there some law that allows you to do whatever you want as long as it's in your property? I dont know I dont own a house.

Truce declared in peace wreath battle - CNN.com
A subdivision has withdrawn its threat of $25 daily fines against a homeowner who put a Christmas wreath shaped like a peace sign on the front of her home.

Homeowner Lisa Jensen told The Associated Press on Monday that the board of directors of the Loma Linda Homeowners Association had apologized, called the incident a misunderstanding and had withdrawn its request for the wreath's removal.

It's amazing what a little publicity will do.
