"Pause" in warming explained, may last another 20 years.

Ummm. My link point directly to the words.

LOL, 24th on the list?

The words...

Poke
Poke is to describe someone that has no clue on urban culture and attitudes. It is used to describe their actions, words and general behavour. It can also be used to describe a group of people or a situation.

It is often refured to as the opersite attitude to ghetto.
Your bear POKE!

My bad, that obviously makes a lot of sense..... Sorry ethan it was there my bad...

So it's a very obscure word to describe someone that has no clue on urban culture and attitudes. With evidently 3 people anyway.. But again my apologies. Next time though; link to the definition and it won't be an issue..

Either way it was not my intentional use of the term. My use was made clear.

[h=2]Ooops – Met Office decadal model forecast for 2004-2014 falls flat[/h] Posted on November 21, 2013 by Anthony Watts

Paul Matthews writes: The skillful predictions of climate science
Smith et al (2007): 0.3°C in 10 years
In 2007, a team of climate scientists from the UK Met Office led by Doug Smith wrote a paper “Improved Surface Temperature Prediction for the Coming Decade from a Global Climate Model”, published in the journal Science. Although published in 2007, the paper made predictions for the decade 2004-2014. (Presumably the work was started around 2004 and it took some time for the paper to be published). The paper made claims about the “skill” of the model, for example “Having established the predictive skill of DePreSys…
The Smith et al paper made the following specific predictions:

Crap. He reproduced. Too late.

Realistically, there is no pause at all, and the aggregate heat is increasing steadily.

Do you have the instrumental data to back that up?

Another personal attack... Might want to curb that soon...

Goofs does that often, doesn't he? Seems he is better at dishing it out than taking it.

Yet people make fun of those saying things like strategery...

Hypocrisy anyone?

I love strategery. It is often essential to use this when you are trying to implement some trickeration.

My mother was raised in the south as well. I don't appreciate this racial slur. This is in violation of Rule #18.

Might want to curb that soon...

Huh??!!?!

GW is BS, initiated by academics, to extort money for their junk-science projects, embraced by tree humpers who don't know any better and like to be led by their noses into the abyss.

Some use climastrologists, which isn't a scientific term ...

Glowbull warming, anyone?

The English language is a mongrel dialect that is very plastic and ever evolving.

Shakespeare tuned loose in the halls of your average High School would be rendered speechless by the jibber jabbering of the the surrounding population and he is only a century or two removed from the current. Chaucer would be incapable of making sense of any words at all.

Latin is used as the descriptive in science as it is a dead language and therefore an unchanging standard.

Only you would think I was insulting my own mother... And what racial slur? LOL, being from the south is now a race? Get a grip.. I wasn't insulting my mother, and "southern" is not a race..

My mother was from the North. She called lutefisk food. Is that also a racial slur?

Poke as defined by urban dictionary:

Poke is to describe someone that has no clue on urban culture and attitudes. It is used to describe their actions, words and general behavour. It can also be used to describe a group of people or a situation.

You are insulting rural Southerners with this slur

Your tunnel vision and myopia are dully noted.

I googled "Poke":

"Web Search Results
1 - 10 of about 4,620,000 for poke"

I appreciate that you are trying to cast aspersions on someone that you apparently don't like, but besmirching the escutcheon of another based only on the narrowest and most obscure interpretation of a harmless comment seems a bit close minded.

Why are you doing this?

Its even worse when the bullying is clueless... because that exact definition is in the urban dictionary.. easily found with a simple google search.

Urban Dictionary: Poke

The reference is so obviously not appropriate to your link that you should be embarrassed for even linking to this.

You definitely don't know what "escutcheon" means.

I do read a lot--just important things. Not fluffy arts books about Jack Hays and escutcheons.

Then perhaps you should be more reserved in your judgments about areas in which you admit to little familiarity.:peace

I'm not sure that I agree, though. I have taken a lot of English courses and I have probably read over 500 fiction books in my life. Never seen the word escutcheon. Must be a history thing.

Why don't you favor me with yet another misinterpretation of English.

I wait with nervous anticipation.

Let's see…

How do I spell illiterate...

Why do you think that? Looks to me like he used the word correctly.:peace

It's possible he doesn't know what "besmirch" means, either.

What are they teaching people at UNC?
