Patriotism Is Becoming ‘White Supremacy’

You get what you see and hear with Trump. It's all out on the table. That's not a fraud, that's just a personality that doesn't appeal to you. That's subjective.
In large part, you’re correct that we get what we see and hear with Trump.

A lying loudmouth ignoramus white nationalist bigoted anti-patriotic piece of ****.

The fraud is one who outwardly appears one way, but behind the scenes is scheming something else altogether.
Like the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017 that Trump told the public “is going to cost me a fortune, this thing, believe me”, and later after signing the new law, told his friends at mar-a-lago, “You all just got a lot richer”. The same tax law that gave huge permanent breaks to corporations, while giving modest temporary breaks to 99% of Americans?

Or like when Trump promised Americans enrolled in ACA that he would “immediately” replace Obama’s health care law with a plan of his own that would provide “insurance for everybody”? The same ACA that he is currently working to completely eliminate without even an outline of a replacement currently?

Or what about Trump’s claim that “99%” of cases “are totally harmless”, even though the mortality rate is actually 4.5%. Or his claim that "Coronavirus numbers are looking MUCH better, going down almost everywhere. Big progress being made!", even though only a handful of states are leveling off, whole many more are seeing increases?

Trump is speaking the truth and you don't like it. Have a cookie.
Trump’s habitual, pathologic even, pattern of lying is well documented. Only someone who is in a deep, deep state of denial or an utter moron would argue otherwise.

The rage mob is tearing down statues of people who fought to end slavery. They're ignorant, rabid, and violent. I assure you that erasing history is just a part of it; they want to rewrite history as well.
There is no justifiable reason for illegally tearing down monuments. The will of the people is now being listened to by elected state officials across the country. Protestors should go to their representatives and seek to remove the offensive monuments by legal means.

Again, for those who are confusing taking down offensive monuments with erasing history, the first does not, in any way, erase history. Every time a monument to a Confederate soldier is taken down that person and his deeds are not magically erased from history books and other historical records.

Still can't disprove a single accomplishment with facts or data.

You're argument is, "everybody knows", "Obama's economy" LOL.

I think what everybody knows now is that you can't disprove a single accomplishment out of the 4-5 dozen listed.

What accomplishments were listed? you literally copied and pasted talking points from Trump's own whitehouse website, LOL.

You yourself can't even make a case of why Trump should be re-elected outside of "DURR, THE LEFT IS EVIL!".

"No, I cannot dismantle or debunk any of Trumps accomplishments, so I will just keep posting taunts."

Don't worry, your loser president can't even make a case as to why he should be re-elected. Just ask Hannity.

I agree, Trump has accomplished much. In fact, Trump's list of accomplishments is so long, it extends beyond the DP word count limits!

Great job supporting the President, Weaver2!

OMG. the last time I heard that kind of retort was on the playground jungle gym in 4th grade.

Just in case you missed my post in your mental efforts to think up that come-back, I'll say it again:

And that's giving Trump the benefit of the doubt. In case you didn't notice Trump has abdicated his role of leader in the pandemic and has resorted to alternately whining and boasting instead of leading.

Yes, it's an impressive list of accomplishments.

What? Sanders, far left? Are you serious? Try Stalin for 'far left' and see if you can make a comparison with Sanders stand.

In Europe Sanders would be considered "centrist" or even moderate conservative.
The reality is, he's about where FDR was for the most part.

You don't need the media to see what trump is doing. You just need to listen to trump's speech. He compared Democrats to Nazis and terrorists.

He's also labeling Antifa as terrorists.

It's such a weak and cheap parlor trick, isn't it?
Hang up an Antifa sign and pronounce them terrorists, right?
But no matter what individuals say or do, the fact is, the term "antifa" does MEAN "anti fascist".
It does not matter if individuals who call themselves "Antifa" succeed or fail in BEING anti fascist because in the end, the word still means what it means.

But then we get to all the millions and millions of people, ordinary Americans, who were anti fascist long before this group even crept up on the national "radar".
This is important, because this latter group is thousands of times larger than "Antifa" the "secret word" brand name bunch that grabs Trump's attention and gets his chonies all in a bunch.
The original "anti fascists" were the men and women who went overseas and actually fought fascists in a war.

If Trump says that Antifa are terrorists, and Trumpsters agree, the only logical next question is to ask if they are against anti-fascists in general.
And that's where Trump and Trumpers walk straight into a buzz saw...

"Forget the Antifa kids, what about your beliefs regarding fascism overall, are you against anti-fascism, too?"
If their answer is yes, then they must BE FASCISTS, yes?
And that means that Trumpers are now against all those millions who gave their lives in WW2 and against all their families.

Yes...yes...we all heard the speech.

Confederacy good, BLM bad.

Won't don't you provide the quote from the speech that said confederacy good.

It was a speech. It's on tape. Everyone can come to their own conclusions.

Calling the media liars, about a speech, that was televised live, is nonsensical. You obviously disagree with their opinion, but calling them liars isn't very smart.

If Republicans call Democrats liars, they aren't very smart. If Democrats call Republicans liars, what are they?

I did not watch the speech.

Was that really what he said?

Of course. Trump said, and I quote, "Just because the south lost the civil war does not mean their views on race and slavery were incorrect. Just the opposite, in fact -- it is well known that blacks are inferior in every way. They would have been better off if they had remained as slaves. At least then they were provided for and their natural violence was controlled. And it has always been my goal in my presidency to make racism respectable again. Make whites great again!"

That was in Trump's speech, I swear.

The irony that you buy into the whole Democrats=Nazis trope?
Yeah, that is ironic.

I do? You can provide a quote?

What are your views on The Confederacy?

They lost.

Possibly my favorite President is Lincoln. I was obsessed with history as a kid, and especially Lincoln because of the civil war, the Emancipation Proclamation, and his assassination.

I'm also obsessed with history because I grew up in Hampton-Newport News Va. From the early settlers, to first colonies, to revolutionary war, to civil war...it's all there. Battlefields all over Virginia. Museums, monuments, attractions, Colonial Williamsburg, Jamestown, Ford's Colony, Yorktown, Richmond, Winchester...all in Virginia.

The state is RICH in history. We're not fighting the causes of previous wars; those wars are over. It's that people see history as the backdrop of how the nation was formed, where we came from, how we arrived to today, and how we've grown and changed. it's educational and interesting. People have spent their entire lives studying the subject. Me, I'm just an enthusiast.

Today the US and Britain are allies. Today, the North and South and Wild West are one nation.

Today, all skin colors, cultures, and immigrants are fully integrated and working together academically, socially and professionally.

To deny this is deception. To claim otherwise is a lie.

I do? You can provide a quote?

They lost.

Great, then you should have no objection to removing their heroic statues.
They ain't heroes, they were enemy combatants who declared war on the USA.

Enemy combatants who got their asses kicked and granted a merciful return home instead of mass hangings do not deserve participation trophies and those statues, most of which went up forty years AFTER Appomattox, should never have been allowed to be put up in the first place.

I have no problem if they're moved to a museum for historical purposes; they're relics of history. There are processes and procedures to petition for that.

I have a problem with mobs vandalizing and destroying historic works without due process. If you allow violent mobs to control the narrative, violent mobs will move on to the next temporary rage.

Last year, after Charlottesville, the liberal media mocked conservative media for suggesting that the mob would be coming for the founders. Now of course, the mob is coming after statues, monuments, plaques, school and street names of the founders.

What's next? The founders documents that formed this nation. This isn't about statues. They're going after the very structure of gov't, it's foundation, and the foundational principles. Laugh if you want, it's happening.

Edited to add: We're no longer living in the era of the revolutionary war. I'm not offended by the names of states, rivers, or land masses after English Kings, explorers, and royalty. We're no longer fighting the civil war, despite many relics and historic pieces that remain. We've grown as a nation and society.

I don't understand the desire to rip it all down and fracture it because of a minority of rioters and violent mobs.

I am much more concerned about fake patriots running around claiming these are the actions of Democrats.
You drink the Kool-Aid, you believe everything Trump says, and "Those who can make you believe absurdities, can make you commit atrocities."

My position on those monuments and statues is very similar to yours, but unfortunately, as difficult as it may be for you to believe, I am not in control of the mobs running around with ropes and tearing them down.

But then again, I also do not think those heroic statues of traitors should ever have been allowed in the first place.
I'd just as soon see them moved somewhere private, or maybe even retooled to cite an accurate telling of their background, but of course all the fake Confederate "patriots" would be upset, because they really ARE their "participation trophies".

I know of no other nation on Earth that has ever tolerated statues and memorials to traitors who attacked them.

PS: Apparently all those Klan and Nazis went to the wrong rally!
It was called the "Unite the Right" rally and yet here you are claiming that Democrats and Nazis are the same thing because you support everything Trump uttered in his speeches.

I don't even understand WHY today's Trumpers are so upset over removing racist Confederate monuments and statues in the first place, because they are running around saying "Democrats were the real racists" so they should be happy those statues are coming down.

Monuments heritage.webp

If Republicans call Democrats liars, they aren't very smart. If Democrats call Republicans liars, what are they?

I'm nether a Democrat nor a Republican, and I fail to see the relevance to someone claiming the media is lying about a live speech. My evaluation of Trump speeches are made during the speech, not afterward by the media. So, it's kinda foolish to tell me the media is lying about Trump's speech. I saw the speech. Why would I care about the media? See what I'm saying?

You have a tendency to spiral downward into broad brushing, inaccurate portrayals, and theatre.

I grew up surrounded by history. I grew up respecting police and authority. I served in the military. My entire life has been integrated with all races. I was bussed downtown during elementary school years. I've alway had multi-cultural friends, peers, coworkers, etc. I recognized there are problems, I believe those problems are being hijacked, incited, and stoked for political purposes.

That effort of division is coming from the left of the political spectrum. This is a fact.

There are few things some lefties dislike more than people acknowledging good things about the US. This is why Biden has to run on “transforming” America, because, y’know, nothing about the US has worked up to this point.

Ummm... X? trump ran on the slogan, "Make America Great Again".

How soon you forget.

Don't you feel silly now?

I grew up surrounded by history. I grew up respecting police and authority. I served in the military.

What was it you sounded off on a few minutes ago???

"A personal anecdote followed by an unsubstantiated narrative"

And of course that's after I said that we have three cops in our family, but now that it's your turn, you expect respect when you say you "grew up surrounded by history", (as if I didn't?) "grew up respecting police and authority" (we know you're an authoritarian, you love Trump!) and served in the military....!!!

Uh oh!!! You GOT me there! I did not enlist nor was I drafted.
I didn't chicken out, I just had a very rewarding career already and it was 1974, not much going on anymore militarily speaking, and I chose to stick with my career path instead...and wound up marrying a Navy diesel mechanic, so instead of being the veteran, I am the six foot growth attached TO the veteran and she is a 100% service connected disabled vet.

ktrotter400_001.jpg

Nice double standard, hypocrite.
If you deserve respect for your anecdotes, then it works the other way around.

I grew up the son of a German Jewish refugee who ended up right back in Germany again, taking two Nazi bullets to the neck, surviving to become a world renowned nuclear physicist who pretty much pioneered nuclear hardening and pulsed power. That makes him "ANTI-FASCIST".
Now let's see you attempt to equate that to "broad brushing, inaccurate portrayals, and theatre".
Should be fun.

But meanwhile, I'll still be working on your earlier challenge, to prove there's been a widespread systemic racism problem in police union in many of our major cities, and baked in barriers to removing rogue, racist cops, like in Minneapolis, where the Third Precinct was considered a "playground for rogue cops".

I think you're resorting to juvenile comebacks because you're beginning to suspect that your usual DP tactics aren't working.
I'm in for the long haul, and you're going to get exposed to so much information about systemic police racism you're going to wish you didn't push your "nothing to see here" speech.
And they won't be anecdotes, they'll be case studies, court records, lawsuits and FOIA requests for the most part.
Drip, drip, drip.

But yes, because I am a human being (something you Trumpers have decided is not the case) and because I lived in South Minneapolis I will include some anecdotes because human beings make their arguments more human by citing personal experience.
Tough beans if you don't like it.

I didn't come here to score points.
I outgrew that in the schoolyard around age nine.
I'm here to learn.
This isn't a UFC competition or WWE, it's a debate about a political issue.
