This story broke over the weekend and has a few tangential threads here already. The SouthDakita angle is a new slant. Alaska seem to be trying to get in the tax haven racket as well. The US has long wagged it’s finger at Switzerland and places like Cyprus and the Cayman Islands. Can’t beat them, Join them?

I thought Delaware was the go-to American venue for hiding money? Or is that just a corporate thing?

It's rather interesting that the former head of the IMF is implicated in some of these schemes but not one American has been identified. That seems a bit strange as several Americans have interests in some of the firms mentioned.

Why do you hate Americans?

😃

What I found interesting in one of the other reports, was that the king of Jordan started his multi-continent real estate spree just around the time the “Arab Spring” was starting out. Three adjoining properties in Malibu, block of condominiums in Georgetown, DC and multiple residences in the UK. A king never can have enough villas to escape to when the revolution comes…..

It's a corporate governance thing, not a laundering money thing.
Ah.
Outa my league. If I actually had any money I'd probably know more about it but...

South Dakota is the last place i'd expect to be declared a "tax haven". But then, that's probably what some were HOPING...for it to be the absolute last place anyone would look.

It does take a bit of time to get through

so have patience.

PS - I am totally confident that Canadians will be "well represented" in the final accounting.

Yep, the beat place to hide something is where no one will look for it.

I'm not surprised at all. I've seen libertarian opinion pieces consistently rank it as one if not the least regulated state.

The media won't report on the Bidens or Clintons.

Uh…..other than the entire states of Delaware and South Dakota…….no American were involved……

i honestly didn't think this thread about South Dakota would become about Hillary.

Well, when you look at the voting record in South Dakota, it becomes instantly obvious why the Clintons would choose it for their nefarious activities.

SOUTH DAKOTA.webp

Right?

Ah. So almost identical to SD. Seems that the Clintons would be quite comfortable with such a state.

The Clinton's would be "quite comfortable" with a state that is almost 70% "Republican" (whatever that means)?

Please contact me by PM so that I can get the contact info for whatever it is that you are smoking.

They began their political careers in Arkansas and were quite successful. .. I'm sure they would be fine.
