I think the Obama's should list every item they shove down their gullets.
In fact, we should demand it.
We are paying for them, their health care, their food... so it is OUR concern. Living off our dime, and our paying their health care, we have the right to know every frigg'in thing they shove down their yaps.
For the good of the nation, and so we can monitor and scrutinize their habits. To me... Michelle looks a wee bit too fat. Could it be her diet? How can we know if she isn't forthcoming? We could give her some pointers. Perhaps she's consuming too many carbs and ought to ingest more meat.
It's time for them to put up or shut up. More importantly, we need to know how many fags Obama sticks in his face daily and the brand.
It's not so much what you eat, but how much; and there are some foods that keep you filled up for longer periods. It's simple math really... if you burn "X" calories daily and you consume "X" + "Y" + "Z, you're going to gain weight. If you want to lose weight, instead of eating something, have a cup of water; it's not rocket science, and it's none of Obama's business how much, or what we consume, so long as it's a legal foodstuff.

It's none of their business. That's why. None... of... their... business.
Further, they are stigmatizing fatties, and kids being kids, now have grounds to pester the fatties because Mommy Dearest says they're a problem.
Jerk: Hey Fatty
Fatty: I'm telling the teacher
Jerk: Go'head, The One's ride said you're a problem fool. Ain't you bin listen'in?

I saw the actual show, your statement is idiotic. You're just revealing your true lean, and proving me correct about that. Thanks.

Don't quote someone else and put my name on it.....I look bad enough on my own...:2razz:
Smokers and overweight people should just pay higher premiums, if they don't already. That might be incentive enough to quit and lose weight if it means your premiums go down.
Government Gets Hooked on Tobacco Tax Billions
A growing reliance by the states and federal government on cigarette taxes — as well as a popular proposal to increase federal taxes by 61 cents to an even $1 per pack to finance the State Children’s Health Insurance Program, S-chip — provide a sort of insurance policy for the continued survival of menthol cigarettes.
The National Conference of State Legislatures reported last month that states were facing combined budget deficits of more than $40 billion in 2009. Raising cigarette taxes is one way some states are trying to make up the shortfall. In 2007, states collected more than $19 billion in cigarette taxes
The federal government, meantime, collects nearly $7 billion annually in cigarette excise taxes and would have raised those taxes, effective this year, but for the presidential veto of the S-chip legislation, which House Democrats have said is near the top of their agenda for next year.
Omar Little’s hometown, Baltimore, does not collect city taxes on cigarettes, but some municipalities do, for a total of up to $600 million a year.
But taxes are not the only government revenue from cigarettes. Settlements in the late 1990s to end state lawsuits against tobacco companies mean that the cigarette industry is paying states nearly $250 billion over 25 years. Under the agreement, those payments to states will continue flowing even beyond 25 years as long as the tobacco industry is healthy. But the payments would phase out as cigarette company profits decline and would ultimately disappear if people stop smoking.
All the states are counting on that settlement money for years to come, but losing it would be a particular problem for 17 states that have borrowed against their tobacco settlement money by issuing tobacco securitization bonds.
Yes. If the individual school or district wants to pull the machines for whatever reason, or limit their soda to diet (sans sucre) that is their choice. Last I heard, soda is a legal substance. So then are you telling me that schools that dont sell pop or anything at all should mind their own business and sell as much sugar and bull**** as they want to our kids?
Our school system: Sorry, no soda kiddies, it's dangerous, but here... have a box of condoms.
I don't like government telling me what I should eat. They government's food pyramid has failed epically, causing greater problems, and more obesity and heart disease... which is typical for government. They put their finger in something they have no business doing, and create a huge problem, which of course only more government can fix... Go to hell I say. Michelle, take your salad bars and shove them. Are you seriously offended by Michelle Obama doing something like this or are you just drawing a straw from anywhere you can get it? What you are saying is stupid and asinine.
If she wanted to do something constructive, then tell the nation, THE GOVERNMENT WAS WRONG, WE ARE ALL DIFFERENT, EAT WHATEVER THE HELL YOU WANT. The only thing you should watch for is you don't eat too much. Period.
Then she can go back to gardening.
From the WSJ:
That achievement in 11 short years!!!The Government's Food Pyramid Correlates to Obesity, Critics Say
While the government has stood by this (food pyramid) regimen for 11 years, some critics say it's no coincidence that the number of overweight Americans has risen 61% since the pyramid was introduced
And 400 million for government sanctioned salad bars is a waste. In fact, they should scrub school cafeteria's period... unless they are run like restaurants for profit.
Well, again... if you want to do that, that's between you and Grandma.Laura Bush started an inititative to educate women on their health particularly on how to prevent heart disease. HOW DARE SHE TELL OUR WOMEN HOW TO BE HEALTHIER. IF I WANT TO KEEP FEEDING MY MOM AND GRANDMA GRAVY FRIES AND DEEP FRIED TWINKIES GODDAMNIT IM GOING TO DO IT IM AMERICAN **** HEART DISEASE.
As for Laura and The Dept. of H&H, they can close that down too. I mean really, what did we ever do without this Dept before its creation in 1979. SHUT IT DOWN. If the private sector wants to start some initiative, and they want the First Lady as a spokesperson, then fine... I'm all for it.
Literacy is important because you need to be able to read to have a modicum of success in life. I don't recall her saying read anything specific, just read. And if this is an arm of the Federal government... shut it down. Let the private sector fund this too.She also started inititatives encouraging kids to read and read specific kinds of books when they begin reading as they are growing. HOW DARE SHE TRY TO TELL AMERICA'S CHILDREN WHAT TO READ. WHY? SO SHE COULD BRAINWASH OUR KIDS! I'M DISGUSTED. IF I WANT MY KIDS READING HUSTLER AND WATCHING SPONGEBOB UNTIL THEIR BRAINS ROT THATS MY DEAL SHE NEEDS TO STAY OUT MY LIFE.
In fact, let's scrub the Education Dept. and return this to the states and their localities. It's another Carter era behemoth that's been the creator and guardian of failure, watching over the demise of American Education.
What would we do without these failing departments? We'd be doing far better.

Illiteracy Statistics
Illiteracy has become such a serious problem in our country that 44 million adults are now unable to read a simple story to their child. A few other shocking facts:
* 50 percent of adults cannot read a book written at an eighth grade level.
* 20 percent of Americans are functionally illiterate and read below a 5th grade level.
* Nearly half of all Americans read so poorly that they cannot find a single piece of information when reading a short publication.
And your solution? More federal government? More money?http://www.nytimes.com/2005/12/16/education/16literacy.html
Literacy Falls for Graduates From College, Testing Finds
Published: December 16, 2005
The average American college graduate's literacy in English declined significantly over the past decade, according to results of a nationwide test released yesterday.
And to bring this back to the OP... who's Reckless? Palin? Or the Federal Government?

My point is, is every First Lady has gotten a cause and this seems to be the first time anyone bitched about it like it was actually hurting us.
You want to know what would be a better solution than getting rid of departments that put these standards out there? Get rid of half the **** rotting our brains in the first place. There is no correlation to federal government controlled education and "illteracy". In fact, in the third smartest country in the world, Japan, the Japanese government gives a set of guidelines, and will only allow secondary schools (colleges) to function if they meet their strict and very high standards.
South Korea which is probably the smartest or close to smartest country in the world has a centralized education system as well that concentrates greatly on math and science. So your arguement isn't there.

Nancy Reagan couldn't do anything without being bitched about. Hillary Clinton was bitched about for HillaryKare, first by the right, then by the left after they got demolished in the midterms. Then she got really, really quiet and went back to baking cookies and boning up on those 900 raw FBI files of political enemies.
That's Japan and SK. We aren't Japan and SK; our cultures are vastly different, and we know what doesn't work. If it works for them... Our federal government has overseen the demise of our school system for 4 decades. The correlation couldn't be clearer. Send it back the the states and their localities. Smaller, more accountable places; you know... places no bigger than Japan or SK. Let them run their experiments, let them compete... because the feds have instituted catastrophic failure.
The Carter education scheme has had the same effect as the damn food pyramid. Disaster.

Another Palin thread.... Hooray....
btw I agree with her. and I eat better than Obama.
Really? You don't want any threads on Palin? None? Whatsoever? Or do you just want to vett them.
Zimmer, how many people bitched about "Just say no"? I do not remember any. People bitched about how expensive her dresses where is the only one I remember, and that was a retarded bitch.
Actually I know a LOT of people that thought the "just say no" campaign was as mindless and politically motivated as the one under discussion. I was as well...and have said as much here (tho there were strangely no threads available during the JSN campaign...)
Geez...how many people here are young enough to remember a time with no internet??? And I dont mean due to a power outage...

You see Zimmer there is no "clear correlation" though just what you want to blindly believe. You give no real proof. Nearly every single country in the world that ranks higher than United States in terms of education has one central department, the rest at the very least have a central delegation. So try again.

Let's see, the DoE is set up in 79, and education/literacy slides... no correlation.
I posted the demise in literacy; never mind. The DoE is a gem that needs more money and polishing:roll:
Reagan should have shut it down and returned control to the states.

In 2007, according to the Trends in Mathematics and Science Study (TMSS), the US was the 3rd most improved country in the world in math between 1995-2007. No sliding there.
Also, issues surrounding the 77% high school graduation rate (lower than most developed countries) is caused by many factors. I'd like to see some conclusive evidence that it is the Department of Education's fault.
I think the biggest factor is parental involvement (lack of) and an lack of overall give-a-damn about education.
I was at nationmaster looking into various rates - interesting stuff.
Student attitude about school:
% of Students who find school boring: Japan: 32% / / United States: 61%
% of Students who dislike school: Japan: 25% / / United States: 35%
Reported level of classroom disorder: Japan: 17% / / United States: 28%
It's funny. I was just talking about the days before the internet with someone. What did we do? We went out to play.
