Candice Swanepoel blasts Cecil the lion's killer Dr Walter Palmer | Daily Mail Online

What do Americans care about? Clearly not unborn babies, who are murdered and cut to pieces and the parts sold. That illicits a yawn. Not the prospect of a rogue state that is openly hostile to the US getting nuclear arms, which people are tired of hearing about. Not the ongoing conflict in Afghanistan, which doesn't even make the news. Not the national debt. Not lawbreaking by a leading presidential candidate. Not federal agencies that target political enemies to stifle their rights of free speech. Not a president who enacts laws by fiat.

But kill a lion in Africa and the outrage can't be contained.

It's not just the Americans that are pissed at this person.

I'm only one person, and not an American, but all those things you listed bother me, including the killing of this lion who was resident in an animal reserve and was lured from the reserve, shot with an arrow, and then wandered around for 40 hours suffering before it was locate and shot at which point it was skinned and decapitated.

That disgusts me for a multitude of reasons and to think an American dentist paid $50,000 for the privilege of doing so disgusts me even more.

If the lion was unborn, this would illicit a yawn too.

Is it against forum decorum to say that the OP is crackpottery ?

He should have been arrested before leaving the country. What kind of sick person pays 10s of thousands of dollars just to kill and decapitate an animal? If he was shot by game wardens I would not feel any sympathy.

Because a fetus is not a human being and it is an insult to humanity to call it that. The lion on the other hand was a free and self-sufficient being that was illegally murdered by a cowardly hunter.

Jesus Christ, how many lies can you pack into one post.

I am against all of that which you listed LD. :2wave: But what this Mope did was wrong. He has no Righteous ground to stand on.

How or why they let him leave the country is the question.

A dentist that wanted to take on a dangerous animal. He didn't have to go to any other country. He could have came here to Chicago. See if he can handle the 2legged kind.....that shoots back. Some even after they have been hit. Then maybe he can brag. Maybe!

It's an insult to people who say an unborn baby is not a human being. Such people need insulting.

People can kill unborn babies if they like. Their right to do so is the law of the land. But don't insult our intelligence by saying it's not a human being. People should own their immorality. And they should show some consistency. If it's OK to murder millions of unborn babies it is surely OK to kill a lion.

I'm not saying that killing the lion was OK. I'm talking about the disproportionate response. Would that we'd get that much bile out of the prospect of nuclear terrorism.

It's not ok to murder unborn babies. Put your big boy pants on and quit being so emotional.

I can't walk up to a pregnant woman, punch her in the belly, kill the fetus, and then walk off without being arrested for assault and possibly murder. Because it wasn't my body and not my choice. But for that woman, that fetus is using her body, her organs and her blood in order to survive, and if she has bodily autonomy, and if we don't have the power to tell people that they are forced to use their bodies to support others, then we don't have any say so in what choice she makes, even if we disagree morally with it. If she decides that she doesn't want to use her body to keep this fetus alive, then that's her choice because it's her body. So understand the difference. This isn't a thing were people are saying "it's just a fetus, **** it". They are saying that you have a right over your own body and nothing trumps that. And if your body requires someone elses body to survive, then you can't force them". Otherwise we could force parents to give blood and organs to sick children etc.

With this lion, none of these issues exist. This lion wasn't attacking the guy, he wasn't relying on him in any way. This guy just really really wanted to kill an animal, which is sickening.

You have a point certainly - the hypocrisy is ripe and hangs in the air. I however do care about the murdered unborn AND I do care about the lion as well. The lion admittedly less so.... but big game hunting is pretty stupid IMO. Where I to be a judge and to rule on some legal aspect of this recent Lion issue, I'd make the guy eat that Lion. Every. Single. Ounce.

But kill a lion in Africa and the outrage can't be contained.
First it was a protected lion, second it had a collar and was being tracked. Third they shot it at night. Fourth the guide and license seems to be bogus as the guides are now arrested. I'm sure this guy wishes he just went on safari and watched the lions and appreciated them alive given what's happened. Hindsight is 20/20 after all.

No you are not the only one, but the OP listed a complete fallacy to make a point. This issue has nothing to do with unborn babies.

The insult to humanity is to compare it to a clump of cells with brain of a sea slug and claim they are one and the same. Humans are distinguished by their complex and wonderous brains.

You're correct of course, the OP was pointing out the hypocrisy.

Did you know it is possible to care about more than one thing? It's true, it's true!

Roe v. Wade was based on privacy, not the right to your body, so your reasoning is legally irrelevant.

You're correct of course, the OP was pointing out the hypocrisy.

But it is not hypocrisy, just a failed argument that if the OP *perceives* someone does not agree with him on unborn babies then they should also not be upset with this story. It is a fallacy, and damn near a bait attempt.

I don't see it that way, it is hypocrisy. Lion life = VERY important. Unborn human baby = Kill it.

I agree it's a very far way to stretch but the point is there. I actually disagree with the OP about the Lion outrage - I'm not outraged per se, but I do understand how stupid trophy hunting is and I understand why people are outraged. I also understand why people are outraged at abortions and why it's such a decisive and polarizing subject, yet I do not understand how the political left justifies one so aggressively while dismissing the other so easily. It has to do with a lack of consistency and a twisted view as well as denial.

A memorable line from Wall Street went something like "WASPs love animals and hate people." I think that probably extends well beyond WASPs.

It's hard to hate something that can't talk and isn't trying to kill you.

Did you know it is possible to care about more than one thing? It's true, it's true!

I find it interesting which issue elicits the huge response.

I find it interesting which issue elicits the huge response.

So you are trying to compare different things, and being surprised at different responses. And did you know one is legal, and one is not? And did you know that supporting something as a right does not mean you think people should exercise that right? Oh wait, that is all complex stuff that does not allow you to get all outraged and blame liberals. Sorry if I made your head spin...
