Outrage builds as video shows Idaho police shooting a knife-wielding autistic teenager (1 Viewer)

That wasn't a police response, it was a firing squad.

RIP young man.

A properly trained and equipped team will have one officer designated as non lethal (taser) and one with a gun in case the taser doesn't work.

Also only one officer should be talking to the man to avoid conflicting instructions.

This was chaotic.

This I agree with 100%

Not to mention that a person with sufficient training in hand to hand could have easily disarmed this individual without violence.
I agree that the kid could very likely have been disarmed. The kid could also have gotten one lucky strike in before being disarmed, severely injuring or killing the officer.

Rather than risking being stabbed, the police could’ve/should’ve used a different, less than lethal method (taser, oc spray).

Why open fire so quickly? The officers were in no immediate danger

Police continue to be entirely unequipped to deal with people with disabilities
Gross incompetence, excessive use of force.

Disciplinary and potential legal actions are coming for officers involved, and a huge lawsuit for the city.

Now that’s Bullcrap
Or bullshido as we call it in the martial arts world.

One of the things that I always hate about police shooting videos is watching multiple officers almost empty their guns into some guy, even when the officers aren't even very threatened like in this case. One guy shoots and they all open up with multiple shots regardless of the threat level. I assume that it is just evil training. Amazing that the police where we both live now don't even routinely carry guns, and of course that means that it is very rare that anyone, criminal or cop, gets killed. In a case like that video you can virtually guarantee that here no one gets hurt. Sad that America has got so bad.
Well no.
Now this isn’t a good shoot from what it looks like now.

However there is a very valid reason that the police are trained to all open fire when another member does. And that’s because in those split second decisions you have to rely on your fellow officers and cannot wait until you “ personally view the threat because you and others might be dead by then.

Say my partner and I witness a drug deal and we start walking up to the suspect at different angle . My partner from the right ,me from the left of the suspect.
The suspect sees the police and realizes his third strike and a firearm mean a long prison sentence and he rather fight.
So he draws a firearm on his right.
I can’t see it, so when my partner fires? If I hold back until I see the firearm my partner could be dead .

Cops have a tough enough time remembering that people have freedom of speech and can record in public... now you want them all to be Ninjas?
