A properly trained and equipped team will have one officer designated as non lethal (taser) and one with a gun in case the taser doesn't work.
Also only one officer should be talking to the man to avoid conflicting instructions.
This was chaotic.
I agree that the kid could very likely have been disarmed. The kid could also have gotten one lucky strike in before being disarmed, severely injuring or killing the officer. Not to mention that a person with sufficient training in hand to hand could have easily disarmed this individual without violence.
Gross incompetence, excessive use of force.![]()
Outrage builds as video shows Idaho police shooting a knife-wielding autistic teenager
A teenage boy described by his family as autistic, nonverbal and intellectually disabled remains in critical condition after being shot in his backyard by Idaho police last weekend.apnews.com
Why open fire so quickly? The officers were in no immediate danger
Police continue to be entirely unequipped to deal with people with disabilities
Now that’s BullcrapNot to mention that a person with sufficient training in hand to hand could have easily disarmed this individual without violence.
Well no.One of the things that I always hate about police shooting videos is watching multiple officers almost empty their guns into some guy, even when the officers aren't even very threatened like in this case. One guy shoots and they all open up with multiple shots regardless of the threat level. I assume that it is just evil training. Amazing that the police where we both live now don't even routinely carry guns, and of course that means that it is very rare that anyone, criminal or cop, gets killed. In a case like that video you can virtually guarantee that here no one gets hurt. Sad that America has got so bad.

That only works in movies.Cops have a tough enough time remembering that people have freedom of speech and can record in public... now you want them all to be Ninjas?
