Ottawa's core locked down as police prepare to move on protesters

It sounds like you are very fond of your country and its path. That's good (for you).
I am, indeed, very fond of the country that I choose to live in.

I'm also very fond of the United States of America (at least the version that it taught to innocent young American school children) but I don't choose to live in the United States of America as it actually is.

Apparently Trudeau doesn't want to catch up with our politicians that are dropping the mandates either.
Trudeau only has one mandate he could drop and I'd rather he didn't. The others are starting to be relaxed by the governments and/companys that put them in place.
Isn't it the same in the USA? Biden can't affect Covid mandates in Ohio, can he?

Did he say so? I saw most ignore the video I posted yesterday. Post 2480

Well, lol, except for Callen who said all videos will be looked at to see if they're real or some such bs.
What was BS? The independent investigations is examining every complaint of police violence or injury to protesters. That is a fact. This article describes the first two but I am certain more will follow. They are obliged under law to investigate any reports.

Just a personal observation but it seems to me many are applying American laws and processes to the Canadian system, they simply aren't apples and apples.

Heavy handed governments can lead to one heck of a lot of blinking! No doubt about that. History shows us example after example.
You must familiar with how often Martial Law was invoked in the US
Right?

Overitall:

There are very good public health reasons for maintaining these mandates even against tides of what I consider to be ill-informed rejectionism by a minority of Canadians.

Cheers and be well.
Evilroddy.
Look Roddy, I've already pointed out that the effectiveness of vaccines wane very quickly. That's why booster shots were recommended. But afaik a booster shot verification is not required on vaccine passports. So, that piece of paper is worthless if you had your shots past the expiration date. Who's being fooled by these mandates? They don't help. Omicron has already been declared to bypass the vaccines. The protection, if there is any, is against severe symptoms and/or deaths. If you've been vaccinated what are you afraid of? Certainly not a trucker that spends most of his time sitting behind the wheel. Very minimum risk from that dude!

One of the reasons why Canada doesn't have a "defund the police movement" is that the Canadian police don't kill anywhere near as many Canadian per year as the American police kill Americans. During 2021, and adjusted to reflect the different sizes of the national populations, American police killed 995 people and Canadian police killed [nil] people.
Another reason why Canada doesn't have a "defund the police movement" is because they are more passive as a whole. That's what socialism does to a people -- it crushes their spirit. The truckers are rising against a dictatorship. The US isn't too far behind, but at some point you can bet your ass we'll be doing the same kind of thing down here.

As a dual citizen, I have the option to live in either nation.

But I've spent my entire adult life here, and I think Canada would be a bit too serene for me.

For the most part, at least from the videos and photos skyfox76 posted, the police acted civilly, but then I am seeing more and more of these videos that show them being just brutal, and I have to wonder what's going on and why that happened.
I think it became evident, in large part due to skyfox's great and regular updates, that there were some concerted efforts to keep some situations and scenes from the view of cameras and reporters. I'm thinking there was one video of the arrest of a reporter, if I remember correctly.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

That's great and choice is a good thing.

Right?
68 times with about 40% of those time being to deal with "labour unrest" (read as "workers demanding safe workplaces and better than bare survival rates of pay").

It is to laugh.

And freedom riders
Mining companies used this as a cudgel for workers

You might want to actually try living in a place where you don't have to lock your doors and can walk the streets at night safely.
