Ottawa's core locked down as police prepare to move on protesters

I know they've explained it, but it still doesn't make sense to me. He can enact it, but has to be passed within 7 days, except it's already active before they passed it. Why not get that agreed on by those same people and then say--okay this is how it's going to be.
It seems to be the same ploy that Biden played with the rent moratorium and vaccine mandates. He knows they're unconstitutional, but by the time the SC tells him so the damage will already be done so he doesn't care.

The administration is similarly well aware that the national vaccine mandate that the president is poised to issue is unlawful.
By the time Trudeau's action is voted on the damage would have already been done. Most people don't realize the cost involved in a court fight to get resolution to a wrong done. You might get relief, but it will cost you to get it.

So is it over?
Pretty much winding down. Workers are removing the barrier fencing from around the Parliament Buildings and the streets are clear of vehicles. On the streets leading to Parliament cement barriers have been erected to block vehicles. Apparently there are small groups of protesters here and there but the police aren't bothering with them at the moment.

One of the things the EA demands is a committee of all parties be appointed within 60 days to no itor and review the use of the EA. If Parliament thinks the EA needs to be changed to remove the 7-day buffer they will amend it. I doubt they will though because the very nature of the EA is predicated on a public emergency which implies time is of the essence.

Yes if Vancouver has an earthquake or Manitoba has a flood the government can't be farting around with debate and votes and "can someone find the GG so we can get this signed" delays.

So the Parliament is still having quite a hike to get to work, eh? From what happened in Surry yesterday, I don't blame them, though. There are still truckers out there with diesel to burn.

They have shuttles. I expect that Parliament members and staff have parking somewhere and are being bussed to work. Currently the building where the House of Commons and Senate meet is closed due to renovations. Everyone is working in the West Block which was renovated for temporary use as the seat of government. It's located on the grounds to the left (if you're facing north) of the Centre Block

Are we comparing the protests to an earthquake or flood?

Is this the act under discussion? The first paragraph states:
An Act to authorize the taking of special temporary measures to ensure safety and security during national emergencies and to amend other Acts in consequence thereof
I'm puzzled as to why this constitutes a "national emergency".

The Act was written specifically for emergencies like natural disasters.

Yes

Go and read Evilroddy's comments in the Poll thread. He's explained this better than I could.
Ok. I will. But if I don't like what @Evilroddy says I'm bringing out a cat on him.

Eta: Meow! Hiss, hiss!!!

LOL. Storming the Capital. How log you guys gonna hang on to the Pelosi lies?
The left are a bunch of drama queens…they even think the Canada protests are an insurrection or something….but they’re ok with BLM trashing cities lol. Weasels the lot of them.😇

It’s a democratic right to protest when you have a government clearly out of control and using the “pandemic” as an excuse for a power grab. Trudeau is a tin pot dictator…it is clear for all to see that he is out of control, the Gay Hitler needs to be removed.
Damn, you guys just ooze hyperbole.
And disrespect. What do rightists drink that makes them equate wearing a mask in Wal-Mart with holocaust victims? And what do you chase it with that makes you oblivious to how stupid you sound?

You surely must realise by now that the whole reaction to this “pandemic” is a blatant power grab, surely to ****?

The U.K. is wide open and almost back to normal…why the **** is Canada doubling down on the bullshit?
World average deaths per million number- 757
Canada- 941
UK- 2,344

Welcome to the Third World, Big Guy. That didn't take long, did it.
Speak slower while you tell us how to handle this. We're taking notes.

Your leader is a joke…the world looks on and sees Canadian libs willing to hand rights over to a government who are shitting themselves over the people protesting peacefully. Your country has become a disgrace…your only saving grace is that I know many Western leaders would love to behave the same as gay Hitler but they watch on to see the Canadian public response….hopefully your leader will get a new one torn for him.

The U.K. numbers are inflated…average age of death being 82 is a bit of a giveaway lol. I don’t know anyone that has died in this so called “pandemic” …the whole thing has the smell of bullshit about it….but libs always fall for bs….it’s a weakness of their.

Ohfer****sakes. Calm down. You're making that twerp 'way more important than he is.
How long should those dumbass truck jockeys be allowed to play with their bouncy castle in downtown Ottawa? You tell me- what's your tolerance level for stupidity?
Uh, wait a minute- you're not a truck driver yourself, are you? Shoulda listened to your teachers when they told you to start getting better grades.

Good job apologising for failure. Practise makes perfect, huh?

Big Eye doesn't approve of the Canadian government.

Why this hasn't caused them to repent and change their ways is an absolute mystery.

Well, if you can't succeed, you can just state that old folks don't matter anyway.

It's not like haven't heard every antivaxer on this board screeching that for the last two years.

I'm sure there's a process underway in Canada to form the "Parliamentary Committee to Investigate Improvements Suggested by The People Who ****ed Up Brexit".

Overitall:

There is a reason Shakespeare never wrote, "... and let loose the cats of war!". The cats just run to somewhere comfortable and then watch the fighting while grooming themselves and stretching occasionally. I would laugh watching you release several angry cats into the snowy streets of Ottawa. They would just huddle in the cage miserably or run to better cover. Bringing out the cats! Indeed. Reminds me of WKRP's fictional and somewhat flawed Christmas Turkey drop from the helicopter. Did not end well for either the turkeys or Cincinnati.

So meow-master, do your worst.

Cheers and be well.
Evilroddy.

Cats are forever stuck in my mind ever since I met you. What can I say! 🤷‍♂️
