Oregon is giving free "abortions" for all

Are those clinics in Mexico that you speak illegal?

I posted about the 3 legal abortion clinics in the USA that perform about 100 3rd trimester abortions a year ( past 24 weeks ).

Even on my end its hard to tell, registration, and correlation on such places is hard to find. Given the majority of medical practices that are extremely questionable down there however, I would hazard a guess of no.

Though the more I look the line becomes even more skewed, seeing as you can find some rather tragic horror stories. Some being of medical practices being run out of long term storage lockers, sex change operations that involve anything from folk remedies to new age medicine. So I'll have to post something that I can correctly angle down after I am done sifting through all of this.

To be frank is more difficult to go through and find stuff now no matter the source, because I can just as easily find stuff that easily "or sometimes wildly" refutes it. Though it is funny when you come across a site obviously written by one of those tin foil hat types.

However while looking through several older stories on this I did manage to find some information on how the number of procedures is going up. Though the study was posted in 06, the number does not do well to ease me. Especially if the rise in percentage kept going up even remotely as high.

Either way when it comes to Mexico, I tend to throw speculation out the window.

Your link only talks about the rate of illegal abortions in Mexico is higher than the US where abortions legal.

That's the norm. In countries where abortion is banned the rate is higher than countries where they are legal.

Keeping abortions legal not only makes abortions safer for woman, it cuts down on the rate of abortions.

The article says nothing about late term abortions.

I know, that's why I mentioned only about the rate at which abortions were growing from that year, and that I worried the rate might stay constant through the current year. I also mentioned I would keep looking, seeing as I typed in a limited search request, and got over 45k results.

Still got my shovel, and still digging.

From a list of the abortion clinics in Oregon:

Zero of the Planned Parenthoods provide surgical past 14 weeks.

One PP abortions up to 9 weeks.

One up to 12 weeks

Two provide abortions up to 14 weeks.

ALl together 5 Clinics that only provide medical abortions ( abortion pills ) up to 9 weeks pregnancy.

There are two non Planned Parenthoods that abortion clinics that provide abortions past 14 weeks.

One non Planned Parenthood up to 20.5 weeks

And another clinic ( not affiliated with Planned Parenhood ) up to 24 weeks.

Abortion Clinics | NROptions

It is funny. with all the mental gymnastics to show Planned Parenthood does little other than abortions.....I looked up Oregon and Planned Parenthood, There were 12 Oregon PP and it looks like 5 do not do abortions. What do they think is being done in those clinics? Crocheting condoms?

Seriously.

I got belittled a few weeks back when I relayed a story about my friend's uninsured daughter having a positive pap smear (read pre cancer)She was at a county clinic and was told the first available appointment for treatment was far off. SHe freaked. Who could blame her? If I have a cancer brewing, I would want it the hell out of my body....NOW!!! She was encouraged to go to Planned Parenthood for quicker treatment. They took care of her . she was so happy with them, she even stayed with PP even after she got insurance for her gynecological needs. She stopped when she started having babies. But hell, they nipped her cancer in the bud .

Now, does Planned Parenthood perform more abortion than treat precancers....I am sure.

But when you combine the wide breadth of services they offer abortion is just a part of their services

But given that the government is already giving the medical procedures, screening, and treatment that Planned Parenthood offers in Oregon, what justification is there for taxing the taxpayers even more to subsidize Planned Parenthood?

Planned Parenthood other services outside of Abortion are simply appetizers. It is like saying McDonald's is an ice cream company.

Your argument does not make sense.

As has been said Planned Parenhood provides Title X healthcare, usually has better hours and can handle more healthcare appointments in a timely manner on average than Federally Qualified Health care clinics.

Also as year2late pointed out your anology that PP is primarily for abortions is false.

Almost half of Planned Parenthoods in Oregon do not even perform abortions and of the remains that do none perform abortions past the first trimester.

That's odd.
Since almost half of Oregons Planned Parenthoods do not perform abortions and the other half of Planned Parenthoods in Oregon do not perform abortions past the first trimester.

Move to Chile. Move out of the USofA. Go. You'll be much happier.

Pick one of these countries:

Chile is a fairly decent first world country, it might not be a bad idea.

You don't get to decide where your taxes go. You get to vote for whoever agrees with you and that's it. Don't like it? Suck it up, buttercup.
Yeesh. You want a referendum every time taxes are spent?

I do think it would very quickly end government overreach if citizens got to choose which departments to allocate their tax dollars to.

Coming from someone who lies and intentionally misquotes me....not sure if your response means anything to me. Oh wait, I am sure.

I did a site by site search and I think I found 5 out of 12 that don't. No real difference though. No matter which is accurate...that is still a large percentage that do not do abortions. And the ones that do, perform other services. Should we list some of the non abortion services again?

Contraception short and long term
STD screenings and treatments.
HIV testing, counselling, and referrals
Breast exams and referrals
PAP smears
treatment for precancers found in PAP smears
Vasectomies
Education and counselling
HPV vaccines

Not only do the facilities that don't do abortions do a wide variety of services....the ones that do abortions perform a wide variety of services as well.

I am waiting for the lie about most planned parenthoods only do pregnancy tests and abortions to be started up again.:2razz:

You'd probably end up with all decisions being made by the same small group of zealous wanna-be's. Kind of like a strata council. The vast majority wouldn't involve themselves.

What is with all these ridiculous McDonald's analogies? They payin' you or something?

McDonald's offers:

Apple Pies
Pancakes
Ice Cream
Salads
Coffee
Pumpkin Spice Lattes
Sausage Burritos
Parfaits
Oatmeal
Hotcakes
Cookies

I guess McDonald's isn't a fast food burger place.

If half of the McDonalds only offered the items on your list and did not offer burgers than it would not be a burger place.

About 7 out of 12 PPs in Oregon have surgical abortion services but

Only 5 out 39 Planned Parenthood in Texas offer abortions.

Perhaps we will never come to agreement but the glory days for PP are waning. President Trump and/or Pence will defund PP. The Democrats were to disorganized and dyfunctional to save them. Ruth Bater Ginsburg's legacy will be tarnished as she should have retired during Obama's reign.

My argument makes perfect sense. If Planned Parenthood is not NECESSARY to provide services in Oregon because such services are already provided by the government, then there is no justification for federal funding of Planned Parenthood in Oregon. It's as simple as that.

Those who want Planned Parenthood anyway are still free to support it and subsidize it with their contributions.

Planned Parenhood is needed to help provide the Title X services to the residents of Oregon.

Oregon provides funding for abortions but not for all the Title X services.

From Oregon.gov

The Title X Family Planning Program is the only Federal program dedicated solely for the provision of family planning and related preventive health services. The program is designed to provide contraceptive supplies and information to all who want and need them, with priority given to persons from low income families.

Title X Guidelines consist of two parts. All files are PDF format:

Program Requirements, which can be found in Section B of the Program Manual, and
Providing Quality Family Planning Services: Recommendations of CDC and the U.S. Office of Population Affairs (QFP) which can be found in Exhibit B-1 of the Program Manual.

Oregon Health Authority : Title X-Specific Resources : Reproductive Health Provider Resources : State of Oregon

.......

Title X funding:

Similar to other federal safety-net health care programs, the Title X grant program funds are appropriated to the Health Resources Services Administration (HRSA) through the annual, discretionary appropriations process by Congress. However, the program is unique in that while it is funded through HRSA, it has been administered by the Office of Population Affairs (OPA) within the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Health in the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) since 1983.

OPA provides Title X funding to 91 public and private nonprofit grantees in 3,951 service delivery sites across the country.

State, county, and local health departments make up the majority (51%) of Title X service providers.

Hospitals, family planning councils, Planned Parenthoods, federally qualified health centers and other private non-profit organizations make up the rest (49%) of the Title X network.

Planned Parenthoods roots started in 1916 when Birth Control Federation of America opened its first birth control clinic, to help teach women about birth control.

In 1942 Planned Parenthood Federation of America, Inc. is adopted as the new, more comprehensive name for the Birth Control Federation of America
