“This is why we have always fought: We are willing to mix with one another, but we do not want to become peoples of mixed-race,” said Orbán during a Saturday speech in Romania, adding that Hungary will not join in with Western Europe’s “mixed-race world.

1. It seems that the Republican party is now only a White Christian nationalist party like the KKK or Nazis.
2. I can't understand how any people of color can still vote Republican.

Oh, for goodness' sake!

Of course, Mr. O. could have have couched his opinion in more gentle language.

Maybe something like: "We Hungarians respect our neighbors that believe in multiculturalism. As for us Hungarians, we are like the Japanese, who find that a homogeneous society is more congenial. Please respect our wishes."

How far are the Hungarians from genetic testing?

…….and those that don’t measure up………..history repeats……..

Or he could just not be a racist jackass.

I lived through the cold War.. I felt bad for the people of Eastern Europe.. Having to live under the USSR dictatorship.. I was all for anything we could do to help them get out from under the USSR..

Now? Many of those countries are right back to dictatorships.. This time their own doing..

So F'em...

I guess it figures that someone such as yourself who is on record here as being a white nationalist, would race to the defense of a "white purity" politician.

Hungarians are a mixed race people....

Yeah, but you have to give him credit for finally saying what white conservatives mean when they talk about immigration and "multiculturalism." They don't like race mixing.

Conservatives like Tucker Carlson and Victor Orban are very good at hiding their agenda. But one of Orban's advisers finally figured it out.

Zsuzsanna Hegedus, who is Jewish and a long-time Orban ally and adviser, resigned after the speech.

Hegedus, in a letter published by the hvg.hu news website, wrote: “I don’t know how you didn’t notice that the speech you delivered is a purely Nazi diatribe worthy of Joseph Goebbels,” referring to Adolf Hitler’s chief propagandist. The speech would have appealed to the “most vile racists.”

Hitler didn't care for "multiculturalism" either.

Decades ago the KKK and other White supremacist groups switched strategies. They would get rid of the supremacist rhetoric and move to a less offensive separatist message. We don't hate other races we just believe it's better if we're separated. Tucker Carlson and the new fascist Republican party have polished that turd White supremacist message up real nice.

After reading that speech (it is very very long), I came away with a different meaning of the word 'mixed-race' than a racist one.
He talks about his own people being mixed, but acting like Hungarians. That wasn't mixed-race. He refers to mixed-race as the ones who mingle together and DON'T act like Hungarians first.

This is precisely what we are seeing now in the US. Want to be a melting pot? MELT! Don't stand astride and refuse to assimilate (melt/merge/insert term that means join) within the dominant culture as they absorb the parts of the culture you are bringing in to the fold for use as the American culture sees fit.

He sounds so nice. Bigoted, hateful, racist. No wonder he was invited to CPAC.

Who is standing aside and refusing to assimilate?

What supremacists have long figured out is that they can't win politically if they are honest about their beliefs and feelings. They've become very good at hiding their true beliefs and couching their words.

We're not against Civil Rights, we're for states rights. ;

David Duke's failed in his attempt at mainstreaming his White supremacist agenda by disguising it but future conservatives were successful at using this same approach.

Btw interesting he's speaking at a Republican event..

As they say... Not all Republicans are racist, but all racist are Republicans...

But...but..the Democrat plantation...Democrats were the original Klan members. /s

Yet somehow every admitted racist I've ever known is a conservative and hates liberals.

Or he could just stop being a racist asshole.

Better still the republican party could avoid associating themselves with the racist asshole.

Talk about "bad optics"...

So I found his speech and read more in-depth and it made it worst. Your claim is utterly false.

He very clearly explains what he means by "mixed-race." Viktor Orban defines "mixed race" as mixing with peoples outside of Europe. He explains that people within Europe mixing together is positive but mixing with those outside of Europe is something to be avoided. He couldn't possibly be clearer.

In such a multi-ethnic context, there is an ideological feint here that is worth talking about and focusing on. The internationalist left employs a feint, an ideological ruse: the claim – their claim – that Europe by its very nature is populated by peoples of mixed race. This is a historical and semantic sleight of hand, because it conflates two different things. There is a world in which European peoples are mixed together with those arriving from outside Europe. Now that is a mixed-race world. And there is our world, where people from within Europe mix with one another, move around, work, and relocate. So, for example, in the Carpathian Basin we are not mixed-race: we are simply a mixture of peoples living in our own European homeland. And, given a favourable alignment of stars and a following wind, these peoples merge together in a kind of Hungaro-Pannonian sauce, creating their own new European culture. This is why we have always fought: we are willing to mix with one another, but we do not want to become peoples of mixed-race. This is why we fought at Nándorfehérvár/Belgrade, this is why we stopped the Turks at Vienna, and – if I am not mistaken – this is why, in still older times – the French stopped the Arabs at Poitiers. Today the situation is that Islamic civilisation, which is constantly moving towards Europe, has realised – precisely because of the traditions of Belgrade/Nándorfehérvár – that the route through Hungary is an unsuitable one along which to send its people up into Europe. This is why Poitiers has been replayed; now the incursion’s origins are not in the East, but in the South, from where they are occupying and flooding the West. This might not yet be a very important task for us, but it will be for our children, who will need to defend themselves not only from the South, but also from the West. The time will come when we have to somehow accept Christians coming to us from there and integrate them into our lives. This has happened before; and those whom we do not want to let in will have to be stopped at our western borders – Schengen or no Schengen. But this is not the task of the moment, and not a task for our lifetime. Our task is solely to prepare our children to be able to do this. As [House Speaker] László Kövér has said in an interview, we must make sure that good times do not create weak men, and that those weak men do not bring hard times upon our peopl

Yeah, he was very very clear here. At least he's honest unlike Tucker Carlson and Donald Trump.

Let's talk turkey.

It does not matter what Mr. Carlson or the "fascist" Republican Party say, segregation (both de jure and de facto) is dead.

As this nation continues its demographic changes, people will do their best to live apart from groups which they feel are uncongenial. To do so will require considerable financial resources.

Otherwise people will have no choice but to live in integrated neighborhoods -- or move to another country. (Apparently, besides the thousands of retired Americans happily living in Mexico on their social security checks, it seems that younger Americans are moving to gentrify parts of Mexico City, something that is really irritating a lot of Mexicans.)

Or he could just not be a racist jackass.
You classify him as a "racist jackass."

That is your right.

Other people feel that he -- and his people -- are entitled to their choice when it comes to the kind of country that they prefer.

I notice that few people use unkind words to describe Japan, which is still a largely homogeneous nation (although the government a few years ago announced that it was prepared to take in 300,000 immigrants).

I’ve had primarily positive experiences in integrated neighborhoods.

Japanese policy is racist as well.

And there still would have been praise with a standing ovation. They want us to act like Hungary. Would you let him sugar+coat the truth with rhetorical euphemisms? You wouldn't fall for a slick fake out like that.
