A bullshit article. Omar is either liberal or socialist. She can't be both.
She could be neither, of course, but that might be asking for a degree of knowledge of political ideology that's beyond a commentator in USA Today.
 
If he/she can be successful, you too can do it. You don't need goverment entitlements and handout, you just need to be an opportunist and have good connections. I don't think her position is demonizing the rich jives with her personal situation... but that's just me.

Because the 'rich' are the ones funding her. It's just certain sectors of 'rich' that both sides want to hit.

Also, her 'business' should be nothing more than doing her job as an elected representative. Same for ALL of them.

You are clearly a product of the excellent American education system—one that leaves people unable to distinguish between the words socialist, communist, or even capitalist, for that matter. I suppose you must also be a heavy user of the MAGA thesaurus, given how many trigger words you managed to cram into a single sentence.


Now, let’s look at this logically: yes, she is rich, and she is advocating, “I am rich thanks to the American capitalist system, built on the shoulders of others—since no person is an island—I believe the wealthy should pay their fair share.” In short: me…me…me… but here, take some too.


Meanwhile, people in your camp benefit in exactly the same way as she did, yet hoard everything and leech off society without giving back. In short: me…me…me… screw everyone else.


Of these two mindsets, which one do you honestly think is more humanistic and moral?

Show us why and where socialism supposedly says it's a crime to be well off financially.
Near as I can tell, socialism says no one should be too poor to cover the basics and make ends meet but I am not aware of anything that says it's a sin or a crime to be financially successful.
Now, also...near as I can tell, your best friend Donald Trump wants to arrest and incarcerate people who are too poor because he is doing everything in his power to make being homeless a serious crime.

God, this article makes me cringe. This is the sort of thing that I would have written back when I was a conservative. And back when I was a high school student. Like, when I was fifteen.

Do you think this is a well thought-out article, markdc? Has Ilhan Omar said that people should not be able to attain any form of private wealth? She and Mamdani have called for policies that work just fine in the rest of the world. Why shouldn't we have nice things in the United States, like expanded public healthcare, public college, and public transportation?
