One of my biggest problems with illegal immigrants

I’m all for legal immigration in the USA. I believe we need more immigrants especially from countries like Mexico. I work in industrial construction and there is are very few people from the younger generation here in the USA that want or even can do what I do. Most of the younger men and women who can do what I do are second generation immigrants. We do e-verify and all our employees need to be legal citizens. Which means illegal immigrants can’t get a job with us. This means they are working jobs like sweat shops or migrant workers. Which is pretty much slave labor. This is my problem with illegal immigration. Because they are illegal and they fear being deported they just deal with bad working conditions and poor pay. If they do try to complain or improve the conditions they get deported. There are actually many cases where an illegal is hurt on a job and deported so they don’t have to take care of their medical needs. Illegal immigrants aren’t protected under law like all Americans are. I support boarder security because of this and to help stop smuggling into our country. But for the most part illegal immigrants aren’t smugglers.

That combination would simply encourage more illegal immigration.
That doesn't seem to be the case. From what I've seen, it's the conditions in the immigrants home country that drives immigration

Right now, we have neither amnesty nor any increase in the MW for many years. Yet, from what some people are saying, immigration is so high that it amounts to an invasion

For many, working for a week in their homelands pays less than working for a day here. Raising our MW would make that difference worse - not better.

That would make more sense if the people who are willing to break the law by hiring undocumented workers were unwilling to break the MW laws

Conditions in the home country are one factor, but the (more desirable) conditions of the target country (like the USA) matter, too. There is a reason why Mexicans want to swarm into the US rather than oh...I don't know, some other h*ll-hole to their south.

Good job completely missing the point

Been living in the SW for over 30 years. The "immigrants" do not jump right into our culture. They establish there own groupings. Just take a look at south Phoenix for example.

As far as language, some migrants have been here for decades and still do not speak English. They have no desire to learn. They live in a community that rarely speaks English. Doesn't help when signs in stores are in both English and Spanish, like Home Depot has out.

Ok then so what was your point? Maybe I missed it.
We weren't talking about why they choose the US to come to Instead of heading to some other nation. We were talking about why they choose to leave their home countries

I'm sorry you feel that way.

Your biased feelings are getting in the way to see reality.

What reality. That illegal immigrants create a sub class of citizens. That aren’t afford the same opportunities and protection under law that legal citizens enjoy. I group of people that corporations and politicians can take advantage freely.

Again, "feelings". Sorry feelings has nothing to do with reality.
Have a good one. If you have not lived in the southwest and spent years in New Mexico or Arizona your opinion does not mean much.

Exactly! And your feelings are getting in your way.

You think you have a clear understanding of the picture through your lens of prejudice?

America benefited from the multiculturalism of the industrial revolution and the waves of immigrants that came then.

What's wrong with multi-culturalism? Multiculturalism is diversity and pretty much everything benefits from diversity.

The question here is illegal immigration. I support legal immigration. I think we should figure out how to stream line the immigration process. So more people from countries that need to come here can. I oppose illegal immigration. So I believe we need the wall. I support deportation of illegal immigrants. Unless they where brought here as children. I think if a illegal immigrant was raised here and went to high school here that they should just be given citizenship.

I agree 100% the problem isn’t diversity. If necessity is the mother of invention, then diversity is the father. I personally believe that we as a society need immigrants to thrive. So I support stream lining the immigration process. But on the other hand illegal immigration is a problem.

I oppose illegal immigration, too. But even if you break a law you have rights. I am open to the possibility of deportation so long as it is done humanely, which I don't think it is right now.

Agreed with your sentiment about DREAMers. No reason to do anything but give them a pathway to citizenship.

Agreed

Explain to me how it is prejudice to not want someone to enter the country illegally?
I have no issue when legal means are used. Labeling me prejudice must be an east coast thing.

This is close to rewarding people for breaking laws. Come into the US illegally, pop out a kid, wait a few years, and then your child is made a citizen.

Not really that person oppose illegal immigration. But making it easier to immigrate isn’t rewarding illegals. It’s making easer so they don’t feel like the have to break the law.
