Seriously... the US is built on multi-culturalism.
As for integration... lol Yea right. That is way you don't have places like Little Italy or Chinatown because you know that these immigrants instantly assimilated when they arrived.
Integration for immigrants takes generations. It took generations for the Irish to go from unwanted people like blacks and dogs.. to what you have today. Same goes for Italians, Polish and so on. Some are still discriminated against in the US.. blacks, Latinos and even the native Americans...
On top of that American immigrants (or European) hardly integrate enmass when they move country. Some do, but most don't and the more alien a country is the less integration.
I have lived in many countries during my life, and in no country did immigrants integrate or even attempt to integrate.. at least the first generation.
Here in Spain there are tons of expats who have been here foe 20 plus years and don't speak Spanish or integrate. Funny enough they complain often about immigrants in the home country not integrating...
When I lived in the Middle East... immigrants there from the US and Europe more than not lived in specially built western compounds... how is that for integration?

That is why we need a higher minimum wage and amnesty for all undocumented immigrantsThat (bolded above) kind of competition is simply a race to the bottom.

That doesn't seem to be the case. From what I've seen, it's the conditions in the immigrants home country that drives immigrationThat combination would simply encourage more illegal immigration.

Right now, we have neither amnesty nor any increase in the MW for many years. Yet, from what some people are saying, immigration is so high that it amounts to an invasion
That would make more sense if the people who are willing to break the law by hiring undocumented workers were unwilling to break the MW lawsFor many, working for a week in their homelands pays less than working for a day here. Raising our MW would make that difference worse - not better.

Good job completely missing the pointConditions in the home country are one factor, but the (more desirable) conditions of the target country (like the USA) matter, too. There is a reason why Mexicans want to swarm into the US rather than oh...I don't know, some other h*ll-hole to their south.
You want to know who are some of the worst at integrating into our society? The rich.
They buy their own gated communities to set them apart from the rest of us. They buy their own private schools. They buy health insurance that many of us could never afford. And then when one little tiny scratch happens, they go bananas.
But immigrants? Just the opposite. They jump right into our culture because they have to. They have to just to survive. Language is their only real barrier, and if local and state governments would shell out the modest expense it would take to provide them with English classes, then even this wouldn't be a problem.
Good job completely missing the point
We weren't talking about why they choose the US to come to Instead of heading to some other nation. We were talking about why they choose to leave their home countriesOk then so what was your point? Maybe I missed it.
Been living in the SW for over 30 years. The "immigrants" do not jump right into our culture. They establish there own groupings. Just take a look at south Phoenix for example.
As far as language, some migrants have been here for decades and still do not speak English. They have no desire to learn. They live in a community that rarely speaks English. Doesn't help when signs in stores are in both English and Spanish, like Home Depot has out.
I'm sorry you feel that way.
It is not how I feel. It is what has happened in the SW.
Your biased feelings are getting in the way to see reality.

Again, "feelings". Sorry feelings has nothing to do with reality.
:lamoHave a good one. If you have not lived in the southwest and spent years in New Mexico or Arizona your opinion does not mean much.
One of my biggest problems with illegal immigrants is not them committing crimes, it is the liberals supporting multiculturalism. They are so afraid of being called racists and bigots they believe these people do not have to assimilate to our culture.
Exactly! And your feelings are getting in your way.

You think you have a clear understanding of the picture through your lens of prejudice?
America benefited from the multiculturalism of the industrial revolution and the waves of immigrants that came then.
What's wrong with multi-culturalism? Multiculturalism is diversity and pretty much everything benefits from diversity.
The question here is illegal immigration. I support legal immigration. I think we should figure out how to stream line the immigration process. So more people from countries that need to come here can. I oppose illegal immigration. So I believe we need the wall. I support deportation of illegal immigrants. Unless they where brought here as children. I think if a illegal immigrant was raised here and went to high school here that they should just be given citizenship.

I agree 100% the problem isn’t diversity. If necessity is the mother of invention, then diversity is the father. I personally believe that we as a society need immigrants to thrive. So I support stream lining the immigration process. But on the other hand illegal immigration is a problem.

Agreed with your sentiment about DREAMers. No reason to do anything but give them a pathway to citizenship.
This is close to rewarding people for breaking laws. Come into the US illegally, pop out a kid, wait a few years, and then your child is made a citizen.
