You would need only two things. A picture Id card, either state or national ID card and a thumb print data base. Thumb print readers are not expensive so it would not cost anyone that much to buy and use one and if you know whose print you are looking for, they are accurate . If you want a job, rent or buy property, get a bank account, register your children for school, anything requiring an ID, you have to show your ID and place your thumb on the reader. If they match everything is okay. If they fail to match, you are eliminated from doing any of the above. Without the ability to get a job, find living places or even get cash to buy food, you will have to go back to where you came from. The initial cost of setting up the program is high, but once in place, will reduce the need for all of the present immigration offices we now have except for asylum seekers and temp workers. They would get temp ID's and thumb print approval, but that would be for a limited period. Once the time limit has been reached, approval would be removed. I know that the Dems would hate the whole thing and GOpers would hate the ID's, but it is a simple solution to our illegal immigration problems, now nd in the future.

but that wouldnt fix the problem at all because of how multifaced it is
I'm all for Idenifaction and holding companies accountable but this wouldn't go far enough to do that and the other problem is illegals make up such a large part of the workforce that needs addressed in some fashion too

I'm making these numbers up cause I cant remember them so don't quote me on them but of 20% of the agriculture industry, 15% of the service industry and 10% of the construction industry just disappeared that's an issue

too close to giving them control over citizen bank accounts and livelihoods per China.

Legal immigrat replacements

100% correct IMO but writing it and making it a reality is very different

from pay, to job applicants, to a system to make some of the illegals legal, to an enforcement/crack down system on companies that is actually done etc etc

If you think the only reason people come to America is jobs, you're not paying attention.

I'm making these numbers up cause I cant remember them so don't quote me on them but of 20% of the agriculture industry, 15% of the service industry and 10% of the construction industry just disappeared that's an issue

So we know that if they all disappeared the country would be worse off, and yet there is a big push to get rid of them.

Legal immigrat replacements

I'm all for that except that many of the jobs illegal immigrants have are paid lower than state min wage, they're not provided with benefits (more $), they're often working outside labor laws, etc.

I'd like to see that imbalance addressed...people think it can be done without everyone else making sacrifices, (like paying more for produce, some services, etc) and politicians on both sides avoid it.

And it really does come down to scrutinizing and penalizing the companies that hire them...again...much less 'politically attractive.' It's easier to just demonize these people who are willing to work hard and try for a better life. When they've tried to hire American citizens for a lot of these jobs...they often quickly quit...it's easier to live off of welfare, etc. I'm not aware of any of those programs that worked.

So we know that if they all disappeared the country would be worse off,
yes if we pulled a Thanos on them we would be worse off
and yet there is a big push to get rid of them.
is there?
if there was IMO it would have happened, that's one of the issues, there's really NOT a big push to do so and just disappearing them is NOT the answer

I think so, but I could be wrong.

There's a push to limit immigration, even though the immigrants we have now are making us better off.

With my plan they would be legal with short term ID's

Requiring people to show their papers has worked really well in the past, we should most certainly try it in the name of security and of course for the children.

Republicans had the whole government in 2017 to 2019.. They did nothing
. Them and their business donors don't want to end immigration.. Immigrants work cheap and keep wages down..

All they got to do is Enforce e-verify and put teeth in e-verify..Hold the employers responsible for hiring illegals.. That will stop illegal immigration in a matter of weeks.. But the Republicans won't do it.. They know they can keep blaming the Dems, and it works, their base is gullible..

They don't need your plan. Again, the situation as it stands benefits the American people, so why does anything need to be done?
Maybe because we spent 17.7 billion dollars on the so called problem in 2021. With my plan we could probably do the same with half that amount. Of course it would take away the GOP's talking point, but I really do not care about thatt.

Aren't republicans against things like thumbprint scanners and such?

The only reason? No.
But is there some other primary reason that I am not paying attention to?

What you are talking about is an effective E-verify system. If the system is updated and accurate, along with 2 forms of verifiable ID which is the standard now...that would go a long away to being part of the solution. Of course...there would have to be a real push to first financially punish employers that lknowingly hire illegals and then to incarcerate for future repeat offenses in order for this to have any meat. Combine that with the withdrawal of all financial support to anyone not here legally, and large numbers would self deport. ANd there has to be physical security at the border or we just keep doing this every few years.

What specifically was the money spent on.
Border patrols, immigration officers, immigration courts and staff including judges, transportation items, including cars, off road vehicles and boats of all sorts. I could go on, but you get the drift.

I think so, but I could be wrong.
i dont see how the assumption the country would be worse could possibly be wrong, theres no logic to support it or even get that ball rolling

who said anything about "limiting"
limiting has nothing to do with conversation and is no even in the same solar system as making all the current ones disappear at all

True, they seem to like it both ways: the same political forces that like using illegals as punching bags are generally the same forces that want to keep wages and working conditions low. I doubt DeSantis, Abbott, and Trump are in the vanguard to raise the minimum wage.

Government spends taxpayer money on all kinds of useless crap, I don't see how this is any different.

Conditions in their home country, and not only economic conditions.
