WASHINGTON — Ohio Rep. Bob Ney admitted improperly accepting tens of thousands of dollars worth of trips, meals, sports tickets and casino chips while trying to win favors for a disgraced Washington lobbyist and a foreign aviation company run by a gambler known as "the Fat Man."
Ney, a six-term Republican, had defiantly denied any wrongdoing for months, but he reversed course and agreed to plead guilty in court papers filed Friday. Prosecutors will recommend he serve 27 months in prison. Ney was expected to formally plead guilty in court Oct. 13.
"I have made serious mistakes and am sorry for them," Ney, 52, said in a statement. "I am very sorry for the pain I have caused to my family, my constituents in Ohio and my colleagues." His lawyer said he had begun treatment for alcohol dependency. - source
For our GOP apologetics, another of your neocons bites the dust on corruption charges. Hey I even linked to one of your favorite sources, Faux news.
What's interesting though is how the Republicon House majority leader does not call for Ney's resignation, nor does Ney himself say he's going to resign as congressman either; quite contrarily back in August he was even still seeking re-election (though he's retracted that now) has he no shame? Pathetic.

I've said it a million times, this culture of corruption needs to be outed from our government, any government.
Convicted or admited criminals have no place in government and should be tossed in prison, locked and toss out the key - in particular corrupt officials who are by far worse then child molesters IMO.

Considering that he's pleading guilty, he should of course resign. Simply declining to run again is not enough.

Jfuh-do you call anyone who is not a Dem or a Moonbat a "NEOCON"? DO you have any clue what the term properly means? Do you have evidence Ney was once a liberal or a socialist or communist?

He's a schmuck I admit but I think the term NEOCON is as overused as it is misunderstood

At lest he's chosen to finally do the right thing. Now, if we could get some of the congresscrooks on the left to do the same.

Tru dat. But it's the same when neocons call anyone who is not a neocon a democrat or a moonbat.

The term is definitely overused. Right up there with liberal and moonbat.

Choosen to do the right thing? He's still a member of congress and refuses to resign, nor does the house majority leader call for his resignation. How is that the right thing?

Not quite true. I see too few truly conservative ppl in congress today. Who would be how I define a conservative? Barry Goldwater. The GOP today are nothing more then wannabees touting the term conservative on thier forehead when they are anything but.

BTW: I know of some crooks on the left, Im just seeing if you are spouting off, have done your research or are willing to do your research.

Neocon is a political term-much like Communist, SOcialist, Monarchist or Libertarian. Liberal is now mostly a meaningless term that has changed in meaning several times. FOr most people it refers to the tax and spend attitude in the Dems today rather than say "liberal" such as America has "liberal gun control" laws compared to Japan. Moonbat is an opinion laden term that in some ways accurately depicts the lunar madness of some one the left.

Well, not to split hairs, but there's a difference.

"Democrat" just refers to a party.
"Liberal" just refers to a broad ideology.

I dont think the right would necessarily object to being called a "Republican" or a "Conservative."

And "moonbat" is just a derogatory term that has no real meaning.

"Neocon," however, describes a very specific, well defined political ideology. It's got specific characteristics, and has a fairly well defined membership. If people use it to describe everyone on the right, then it loses its meaning and becomes foolish.

Let's not abuse the english language. It's the only one we've got.

agree with all the above. A real neocon is a former liberal forced into the republican camp by the cynicism and neo-isolationism (that often results in forsaking Israel) that has infected the dems since Vietnam. Many Neocons are quite "liberal" on social issues and are often opposite the side of the evangelical or Christian right on issues such as abortion and gay marriage

That's why it's extra hilarious to see ignorant members of the far left hiss with unbridled rage against the "damn neocons," despite the fact that neocons agree with them on probably 8 out of 10 issues, unlike most traditional conservatives who disagree with them on nearly everything.

many of the "neocon" elite are Jews from leftist Jewish families. Yet, many of in the Moonbat cave hiss that neocons are the people pushing a rightwing Christian agenda on abortion, gay rights etc.

Doing the right thing and not running for re-election? How noble of him.
/sarcasm

How many people has he ****ed over by using the powers of his office for special interests? And how will him leaving office ameliorate the damage already done?

I think the only proper course of action for any malfeasant public officeholder is seppuku. If they get convicted of violating the public's trust, they should be sentenced to a slow, agonizing death by torture, and have their body donated to the most perverted necrophiliac we can find.
