Official thread for nominating DP Constitutional Convention President

I'm wondering what the rush is. I was out all last week, so missed the initial threads/poll. It appears that time is given for things, but then the next item of business is immediately posted for a vote prior to other business completing. I saw someone made the secretary in one thread, followed by a thread to nominate a secretary. Does that make sense?

no but the officers should be limited to those with at least 5 years tenure or more!

Make me Sergeant at Arms, and I'll shoot the hacks. :gunner::blastem:

We'll make Chief Justice so you can declare everything null and void.

Some people may want to vote based upon that criteria. Would you mind compiling a list of people who meet that criteria?

It will all work out. Chaos should be expected. I think that will change drastically once a President is elected.

I frankly don't even know half of the people on this list.

Be nice to have a short proposal/synopsis of a poster's position(s) to give us some idea who might make a good nominee?

Or is that better left for the voting...

Leave that for the voting. I have no idea who would make a good nominee so I'm just keeping quiet and waiting for that stage of proceedings. Judging by how things have been going so far, I think it'll have to be made clear that taking one of the position will probably require a fair amount of time/effort, and it'll probably be best to have the 2nd place nominees as backups in case someone has to step down for IRL reasons.

No list? I guess we'll end up voting for newbies. Oh well. Hopefully we won't die a slow and miserable death because of it.

These positions for all intents and purposes will be administrative only and apolitical as best as possible. At least that's how I see them but others may see differently.

Dude, keep your shirt on man. Some people work and can't do this 24/7.

That's how I see it too. Keeping track of things, suggesting direction for discussion, etc...all of which are things anyone can do even if not elected to any administrative position.

I am checking out their posts and overall interests and will vote accordingly. While a great exercise in constitutional matters, what we produce, or fail to produce, won't change much in the greater scheme of things. We will just have to adjust as we progress. :)

That's not it. Flippant comments are made all the time and never followed up with any substance. That is the case with some posters more than others.

Would you like to bet $10 that we never get a list?

You could PM him and ask. Frankly I think he was joking, but you took it seriously.

what list. I think American ought to be the grand poobah. He is,a after all a long time member and has official seal of trustworthiness. They don't make just anyone a bartender.

and you can easily go through the list and see their join date. You'd be screwed as would be Palecon because you joined about a year ago:mrgreen:

I'm almost certain that he was. We'll probably never get the list.

lets see

albqOwl-one of the first members (1-12-05)
Me-05
American 06
Americanwoman 05
Hatuey 06
Kal-Stang-09
Korimyr the Rat 06
Navy Pride-05
Psychoclown 06
roguenuke-07
The Mark-05

Albq Owl is the most senior so I would move she be president

Americanwoman, The Mark and Navy Pride appear to be the next most senior and a good cross section of political leans, I'd say one of them should have the other office(s)

Two of those people have already been nominated. Maybe they'll win.

Ladies and Gentlemen,

First I would like to thank you all for your participation in our convention. We now have 59 participants. 4 more than the original Constitutional Convention. :)

Second as you all may be aware we are in the process of nominating a convention president and secretary. The deadlines are approaching for the nominations to be completed. If you wish to nominate someone or yourself, or second someone now is the time. These are the relevant threads:

http://www.debatepolitics.com/us-co...g-dp-constitutional-convention-president.html

http://www.debatepolitics.com/us-co...n-dp-constitutional-convention-secretary.html

The deadline for the Presidential nomination is 11/6 at 23:59 or 11:59pm PST.
The deadline for the Secretary nomination is 11/8 at 23:59 or 11:59pm PST.

We then have a vote for president and secretary, with the requirement being a 2/3 majority for their election. I will announce that thread on 11/9 and begin the polling process which will be for a period of 5 days.

This message is NOT private and therefore maybe used in forum itself or amongst yourselves.

Again thank you for your participation.

I have only counted 7 official nominees.

AlbqOwl
Fletch

That's only 29 hours and 10 minutes away.

Yep. I hope everyone gets the post I made so they nominate their preferred choice. I will have the moderators close the thread after the closing announcement on the 7th.
