What do you think would happen to Mom or Dad if they used a 50000 VOLT Taser on junior?

My bet is they would be arrested and charged with child abuse, yet this has been done to children by stupid police officers more than once.

i wonder what long term affect this might have on a child that already has behavioral issues.

There is a case of a 72 year old woman being Tasered by police, and they got away with it.

When you see the Officer Taser the ols woman you can judge for yourself it it was an overreaction.
I say it clearly was over the top.

If I were hit by a Taser it would kill me because of a heart condition and people with Pace Makers are in trouble already.

Texas cop Tasers great-grandmother

2 Martinsville Officers Suspended After Day Care Incident

MARTINSVILLE, Ind. -- Two Martinsville police officers have been suspended after they were accused of using a Taser to subdue a 10-year-old.

A news release from the mayor's office and the Martinsville Police Department said the officers responded Tuesday evening to Tender Teddies Day Care on reports of a 10-year-old who was out of control.

The release said that the officers, trying to prevent the child from hurting other children, staff members and himself, slapped the boy and then used a Taser to subdue him.

"While the department will not condone the unnecessary treatment of any subject, regardless of age, in any apprehension situation, additional comments will not be made pending results of the final investigation," the release read.

Standard procedure, they've been suspended with pay. Also known as a vacation. :doh

The main problem is that with every new regulation that comes into being, common sense flies out of the window.

So one gets a Grandmother indicted as criminal for the sale of a Goldfish to an under 16 year old.

Two 'Nazi type thuggish' Policement using a Taser on a 10 year old.

A 12 year old being subjected to a traumatic arrest for daring to do a childish scribble on her desk at school.

Common sense should be used in instances such as these.

There again the idea that any Cop might have common sense is very likely an oxymoron.

The tasers are non-leathal (according to the corporation that issues then, I'm not yet convinced), leave behind only small marks, and are extremely painful. These weapons are going to be prone to way more abuse than guns or other measures.

I agree. That's what nightsticks are for.

There is NOTHING standard about tazing a 10 year-old.

It's time for these two idiots to be fired. Then they should be ordered to undergo 10 tazer hits each.

They deserve NO PENSION, NO PAY, and ABSOLUTELY NO RESPECT.

Hold on a second you all. This is another deceitful and distorted article by the media, and they really know how to put a spin on what actually happened. If you notice in the article it says "using a Taser to subdue a 10-year-old.". They didn't mention anything about 'shooting' or 'discharging' the Taser which means they never actually fired it. What the officer did was 'dry stunned' the kid which is a huge difference.

Dry stunning is tapping the metal part of the Taser onto your body which sends a minor jolt to that area. Dry Stun and a Taser are like night and day. I would say a dry stun is probably the equivalent of touching an electric cattle fence. Even though the cop still made a mistake he's not nearly as evil as the media are painting him.

I hate the media. The media does this quite often when printing articles on law enforcement. They always seem to conveniently leave out key facts just to get the readers attention.

The police officers I know, have been tazed so they know precisely what this device does to a person who is on the receiving end.

I wonder if this is the case here?

Either way, I think there is more to this story than meets the eye at first read.
