the occupy wall street movement has been completely muted by the US mainstream media so that people in general shall not understand their messages.
instead the movement has been simplified to mean only its name and been shown on tv as punks who are up to no good with police having to "clean up".

The US media in general deliveres a message of manipulation and propaganda so that the messages people receive is not what is going on at all. And whatever goes against the accepted opinions is muted and drowned out.

The occupy movement actually has a very diverse message about a range of topics going from capitalist greed, to lobbying, economic policy and new political models. Such a shame that is all drowned out and simplified to "occupy wall street" in US media.

Look at Ron Paul, he suffers the same censorship in the US mainstream media.

F*ck the US fascist government. F*ck the fascist media. May they all burn in hell for what they do.

I'm not convinced. These days you don't need the support of mainstream media to get a clear message out to some extent and I don't believe that at least some parts of the mainstream (more print than TV) wouldn't be interested in intelligently presented detailed proposals for changes to the financial and political systems. I see zero evidence that such proposals actually exist though, at least not among the OWS protestors - they seem limited to slogans and rhetoric.

Point proven I'm afraid. Here you had a clear opportunity to give at least some basic idea of this diverse range of topics you refer to but instead you descend in to meaningless hateful rhetoric. Not many problems can be solved by shouting at them until they go away.

Huh....seems to me the media has you pretty much nailed. The 'primary' message of OWS is horse****...they pretend to be upset about banker/broker/lobbyist influence in politics, but voted in the biggest recipients and will again. So...fail. Then you have a gathering and collection of people ranting about their own special causes...targeting all the wrong people. The pretend they understand their rights while completely disregarding the rights of others. Nah....the media didnt black them out. They have very accurately described them. If anything, the media has sanitized the movement in their favor.

Well I can speak from personal experience: my husband was jibbed out of training that was on the books for months because and OWS thing popped up in the city where he had to go in October.

OWS doesn't actually CARE about the astounding negative effects it's had on people. They refuse to accept that a lot of people are STILL employed and STILL need to work to earn a living - they might be poor or barely getting by. But they're GETTING BY and working hard is better than being vandalized and targeted as many small businesses have learned.

It's toxic - and their efforts are turning the people they claim to 'represent' against themselves. Ironic that they managed that.

And Obama supports it all - isn't he just a gem  But when Beck claimed that stuff like this would happen in the future everyone called him deranged.

Geesh man - nothing makes sense these days.

Of course Obama supports it. They are his voters. They put him in office even though he is THE largest recipient of the very funds they pretend to be about and are going to do it again.

I think the movement is questioning that whole model. the fact that the value of labour is stolen by people who produce nothing, badly distributed and leads to inequality, despair and poverty. I think their mainn aim is a change of a rotten to core political and economic model.

Obama is the same **** wrapped in a new package. he is a symbol of the failure of the political model.

Spite the fact that their actions are directly negatively effecting other people who are "the 99%" . . . they seem to actually look at all businesses as an entity to be purged.

it may be that we have different info here. as I said the US movement has been hit by censorship, so there has been no info about their opinions in mainstream US international media. I have only heard from members of similar movements in Europe, particularily the Spanish movement and they have opinions that I share.

I dont live in despair but I find the political model completely rotten. if you dont I think you just dont understand it well enough, or have any opinion on how things should be.

Peel your eyes away from the TV and read from news sources online - including the OWS various websites that are apart from media . . . and things seem more clear.

I haven't watched 24/7 news in the longest time and yet I'm very much so abreast of all the going-ons.

so if you cant trust mainstream media and have to look at the small outlets. what does that make the mainstream media? spewing propaganda machines? what does that tell you about our society?

"media" is not JUST "mainstream media" or "24/7 news channels"

What does it say about people when they think 'news / media' and think of only the large few networks that air the same repeated stories 24/7?

personally I prefer books and magasines. sadly I am a minority, most people watch mainstream media.

Well then we're in the same boat - I simply can't comment what the mainstream media is saying RE OWS because I don't watch it - my parents know a lot about it and they don't even get 24/7 news so the news on it can't be too hidden and skewed.

Obama is the same **** wrapped in a new package. he is a symbol of the failure of the political model.

No question. Regardless...the OWS folks voted for him and will vote for him again. Which is why their movement is **** and they have zero credibility.

My ride to chelsea this morning.....

What do you think the media is supressing and censoring?

The rampant drug use? yup

The assaults? yup

The rapes? yup

The grime and filth? yup

That's if anything what they are "Censoring"....

I've been, you?

I'm just missing all the words today - I couldn't help but gawk at those gorgeous flaming orange and yellow trees, there . . . so pretty.

We don't get fall colors like that around here.

We missed most of them, The october storm had all the trees go straight brown. Most of the foliage survived in the city though.

The media is all about two things...money and pressure. They get money from business to "stay in business" and they get pressure from our government. Inbetween we are given gossip...sometimes gossip that is factual, sometimes slanted. It's just one step up from reality tv.

aha. Unlike you, I also pay attention to mainstream media. Them spewing out propaganda is utterly clear. I sure hope the internet make the mainstream media obsolete sooner rather than later.

Isnt it ironic that the international mainstream media channel that tells most truth and least propaganda is Russia Today?

Yeah? but you dont understand why. They have no opition! They either have to vote for Obama or some right wing extremist Republican. In the US you have only the choice between bad and worse.

The whole way the election and democratic system works is that it does not work.

No other parties? no other choices? At the end of the day, all that matters is your pretense of care and outrage is just that...pretense. Politicians know..."Blah blah blah. Blah blah...now get your ass in there and pull the switch monkey boy."

Yeah, yeah I'm sure that OWS is against totalitarianism, fascism, socialism, violence, and propaganda, and is fighting against the big, fascist, evil government of the US and the bad, evil mainstream media that spews propaganda, and the right way to protest is to take drugs, infringe on other people's rights, make a nuisance, deny access to public areas, and physically assault the police and bystanders. Got it
