Facts are pesky things.
The share of residents without health coverage fell in 20 states last year, Census data released yesterday show, while rising in just one. This improvement largely reflect increased private coverage among young adults — helped by a health reform provision allowing them to stay on their parents’ insurance plans until age 26 — and greater enrollment in public programs such as Medicaid and the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP).
These findings are consistent with last week’s Census data from the Current Population Survey (CPS), which indicated that the number of uninsured Americans fell by 1.3 million in 2011 and the share of Americans without health insurance fell from 16.3 percent to 15.7 percent, the largest single-year drop since 1999.[1] Yesterday’s data come from a different Census Bureau survey — the American Community Survey (ACS) — that allow for more detailed analysis of health insurance coverage changes at the state level than the CPS data, which have inadequate sample sizes in some states.
Dan Pfeiffer, one of President Obama’s top advisers, played down the initial estimation that 7 million people would need to enroll in Obamacare exchanges in order for the program to succeed. He said the White House wasn’t going off of that figure offered by the Congressional Budget Office, but rather just try to “as many people done as possible.”
As many people as possible. I don't know whether to laugh or cry at such an idiotic statement.
So you favor allowing providers to deny care to the uninsured? Its a "personal" choice after all.No, it is about personal choice, people choosing not to buy health insurance
Facts are pesky things.
My comments were in response to another poster who claimed the number was 48 million so if 6 million are signed up wouldn't that make 42 million uninsured assuming that all 6 million were uninsured in the first place? Try to keep up and see who the response was to

I know what you were responding to. Just as you know that the 48 million unisured estimate was a very early esitmate... We both know.
If you want to back away to that...so be it.
Well, they
finally devoted a whopping 60 seconds to the story at the 1 hour 6 minute mark! They had a panel of 5 on, including Chris Matthews, who was the only one who talked about it with Joe & Mika. And what was Matthews' take on it? I'm paraphrasing here because I didn't write down his exact words but you can see them on video later I'm sure.
He said the problem is that the ACA was aimed at the "working poor" who he described as people with jobs who take the bus to work but can't afford to buy insurance. He said the "non-working poor" weren't the target of the ACA and their inclusion isn't going to be the basis for success. He went on to say that the "working poor" should be front & center, jumping up & down cheering about how great the ACA is and how it helped them - and they aren't.
Even Chris Matthews knows what a joke this story is.:lamo
When I am wrong I admit it, I was responding to the poster who made the claim of 48 million and with 6 million now reported that leaves 42 million.
No, the 6 million only includes people who are insured through the exchanges. It doesn't include people who are insured outside the exchanges. I've already explained this to you
It is people who signed up on the exhange many of whom lost their insurance because of Obamacare and weren't counted in the 40, 48, or whatever number of millions reported as uninsured. How many of those people are included in the 6 million? How many of that 6 million were people who were eligible for Medicaid prior to Obamacare? Seems like reasonable questions and shouldn't you know before touting the 6 million number?
Oh, and by the way signing up doesn't assure being insured, paying the premium does
Who's Obama trying to fool ?
People like Top Cat ?
Doesn't he realize those people are already under the influence of his perennial Bull S*** ?
I mean he could have told the media that 66 Million people signed up, and Liberals would have bought it and then showed up here and embarrassed themselves.
People like Top Cat HAVE TO take what ever he feeds them, because they've devoted so much energy and time to that corrupted ideology.
And since Liberals dont understand or appreciate the concept of humility, they WON'T change their minds.
Facts are pesky things.
Don't you love too how they said they needed 6 million - and they got 6 million with only days left to go?
15 million didn't sign up. Nor did 9 million. Nor did 2 million. Nor did 20 million. They needed 6 million - and they say they got 6 million.
Obama and his cohorts should play Powerball. It's amazing how they hit almost exactly the number they said they would hit.
Since you've gone back to worrying about the uninsured, I'll once again point out that the uninsured rate has been going down thanks to ACA
break out the champagne!!!
What is the number of uninsured that you are willing to accept and doesn't it bother you that after 3 years of a program being passed and promoted we have a total of 6 million signed up and we don't know the make up of those 6 million? You think Gallup is credible? They ask people if they are insured and if they signed up they believe they are insured even though they haven't made the premium.
Now answer the question, since you want badly to buy the 6 million how many were previously insured but lost their insurance and how many were eligible for Medicaid prior to Obamacare but didn't sign up?
What untenable healthcare costs? The current ones under the ACA?
I don't care where they get their insurance from as long asthanks to ACA!!!the uninsured rate goes down, which it has

“We hear a lot these days about 45 million Americans who don’t have health insurance.
…According to the US Census Bureau, 17 million of those without health insurance live in households having over $50,000 in annual income. That’s 38% of the uninsured in America.(2)
In fact, 9 million – 20% of the uninsured – reside in households pulling down more than $75K a year. (3)
…And then there are the young invincibles. Over 18 million of the uninsured are people between the ages of 18 and 34. (4) They spend more than four times as much on alcohol, tobacco, entertainment and dining out as they do for out-of-pocket spending on health care.(5) They represent 40% of the uninsured in America.
…14 million people without health insurance are eligible for government health care programs like Medicaid and S-CHIP but choose not to enroll. (7) They represent %31 – nearly one third – of the uninsured in America.
…The U.S. has 12 million illegal immigrants who don’t buy health insurance but still get health care.
…So, how many are truly uninsured? Around eight million. Just
You think the current system is sustainable, without intervention?
You keep using the 40+ million, where does that numnber come from?

Of course you don't care as long as someone else is paying for it. Tell me why an uninsured in TX is of concern to you when I bear their cost not you? You want people to believe you really care about someone else? LOL, that is liberalism where spending in the NAME of compassion trumps actual compassionate results.
