Obamacare tops 6 million signups - Mar. 27, 2014Funny, no mention of this on Fox? Shocking I tell you. Shocking.
Reaching 6 million is a symbolic victory for the Obama administration following the botched launch in October.
The right is so desperate for Obamacare to fail. It is pretty pathetic.
Cause it's bull****.
Desperation has nothing to do with it.
.
Actually, the desperation here lies totally with the Obamacare defenders. So desperate are you for any kind of good news about what is objectively a bad law, you start meaningless cheerleading threads like this. That's desperation. It has everything to do with it.
Medicaid pays the doctors at a 50% reimbursement rate for the approved costs vs. Medicare's 80%, if we are going to put the poor on medicaid and expect it to actually help them, then we must raise the reimbursement rate so doctors will want to accept medicaid patients. New Jersey believe it or not has the lowest number/percentage wise that will accept medicaid insurance, that is 40%. Perhaps you are right, it was planned this way. Why? I don't know, but what I do know is putting more and more people on medicaid without increasing the number of doctors who accept medicaid and new patients it is not solving the problem.
I was referring to both a Gallup and a Rasmussen poll which stated the ACA was hurting more than twice as many people as it has helping. Perhaps that is doom and gloom, but I always thought the idea was always to help more than you hurt. The social safety net is necessary, but I am not sure if the ACA actually classifies as one. But that is just a matter of opinion. According to a CNN truth squad, there were 14 million Americans who qualified for Medicare/Medicaid prior to the ACA, but were not enrolled. Just getting those enrolled would have solved half the problem without any additional legislation. So when I look at the ACA, I just say Hmm, figures.
It has everything to do with it.

Finding a doctor to accept Medicaid or even Medicare was a big problem before ACA.
For the last couple decades the majority new doctors specialized to the point where general practioners started to become almost obsolete. The ACA apparently has some carrot sticks for medical students to become general practioners and help fill some of the gaps in areas that are short of health care givers...ie: rural areas. So the law does seem to be aware of the doctor shortage problem and has some incentives to help produce more doctors and nurses.
A solution for medicaid insured might be an HMO...like Kaiser, etc.
I think the only solution for medicaid is to increase the reimbursement rate to at least match medicare. We may add more doctors, but a doctor isn't going to take a bunch of medicaid patients if they lose money on them. Some take a certain percentage of their total patients here in Georgia, but it seems each office limits the amount of patients on medicaid they will accept. The average charge around here for a doctors visit is 120-150 dollars. Medicare will pay 80% of that, 96-120 dollars with the patient expected to pay the rest or have their secondary insurance, medicare supplement pick up the rest. Medicaid only pays 60-75 dollars.
I am not too sure how hospitals work. But the problem is not the shortage of doctors per se, it is the number of doctors who accept medicaid. Which is shrinking. Adding a bunch more people to medicaid will probably help them if they can get find a doctor who will accept medicaid. Signs have gone up around where I live in different doctors offices stating they are not accepting any new medicaid patients and some have dropped their old patients. I personally think the ACA has made matters worse for those on medicaid. Time will tell, but I think the ACA is a flawed law which if Gallup and Rasmussen are right, is ending up hurting more people than it is helping. Here are those two polls if you are interested.
According to Rasmussen 14% helped, 33% hurt, 50% no impact
33% Say They
Per Gallup 10% helped, 23% hurt, 63% no impact
Number of Americans Saying ACA Has Hurt Them Inches Up
It has everything to do with it.
Does it really matter to you? Let's say all of them have paid, would you call Obamacare a success?
Greetings, Pero. :2wave:
It might be a stupid question, but I can be counted on to ask it, I guess!
Are people currently using Obamacare for their health care needs, or is it still just sign-up time? I don't know anybody to ask.
Fake News will not be caught dead saying anything that would lead any of the sheep to believe Obama can do anything productive. Let's not kid ourselves.
Still hoping for a 'symbolic victory
The actual desperation lies with those Democrats up for re-election who don't want Barrack Obama's name mentioned during their campaign.

Its funny because he didn't realize he was posting bad news.
The Obama adminsistration has been running adds reminding people they need to pay before they are covered.
So they know exactly how many people have paid up.
If ANY Substantial number of sign ups actually paid you know the Obama adminstratiom would have released that data along with this sign up #.
Democrats are hard up for any Good news given the damage this law is doing to their re-election chances.
They chose to not include that information for some reason.

Here's a story about a guy who had his Obamacare pay for more than $400,000 worth of medical care
Larry Basich gets health coverage after $407,000 Obamacare exchange glitch | Las Vegas Review-Journal
Seems like we won't know that until we know how many of the supposed "sign up's" have paid for their policies.

If the government couldn't tell us before how many people have signed up why can they all of s udden tell us with accuracy how many people signed up?

The latest figures reflect those picking plans, not paying their premiums.
