Airstrikes hit suspected Al Qaeda members in Yemen

The government says the attack, supported by U.S. intelligence, may have killed a cleric linked to the alleged Ft. Hood gunman. U.S. says it cannot confirm he was among up to 30 reportedly killed.
. . .
Anwar al Awlaki, a cleric who communicated with the accused Ft. Hood gunman before the attack last month at the Army base and who afterward applauded the carnage that left 13 dead, is among those who "were presumed to be at the site," the Yemeni government statement said.
. . .
Awlaki is a U.S. citizen who was born in New Mexico and was associated with mosques in San Diego and Falls Church, Va., before moving to Yemen in 2002.

Yemen airstrikes hit suspected Al Qaeda men - latimes.com
The Left railed against Bush for supposed civil rights violations in waging this war. He never targeted American citizens for execution.

Obama is targeting an American citizen for execution. No rights. Not trial. Just instant death.

When will we hear the liberals screaming and crying???

Obama is granting the underwear bomber and KSM, both not American citizens, Miranda rights, lawyers and trials in civilian criminal courts yet waging war on American citizens.

Total madness. Obama is giving al-Qaedists Constitutional rights, while at the same time targeting an American citizen overseas for death.

The insanity continues. Change you can believe in.

Reading comprehension is a talent. This is the first paragraph of your linked article.

Reporting from Washington - The Yemeni government said it carried out airstrikes Thursday on a suspected gathering of Al Qaeda operatives and indicated that a radical cleric linked to the shootings at Ft. Hood, Texas, may have been among those killed.

We should not support strikes on gatherings of Al Qaeda operatives?

Obama is targeting an American citizen for death with missile strikes. That is a fact.

What don't you understand about that???

"Yemeni fighter jets launched an aerial assault" before dawn on a compound in the southern part of the country, says a statement issued Thursday by the Yemeni Embassy in Washington.

Hyper-Partisan attack against Obama failed. Please try again.

You have not shown he targeted an American citizen.

Hyper-Partisan attack against Obama failed. Please try again.

Are you unaware that the strike was supported by Obama and aided with American intelligence?

I read through the article, and the most you could link between this strike and the American Government is this:

At the prodding of the U.S. and Saudi Arabia, the Yemeni military has escalated its campaign against militants in recent months.

Note how that is not proof of a direct involvement in this military strike, and that other than that, there is NO LINK between Obama and Yemen when it comes to this attack.

You need to read it again, then.

The strike was supported by American intelligence, which is, ultimately, granted by the Commander in Chief.

Yeah, I have, it's in the OP.

No it's not. The Yemeni government attacked a gathering of Al Qaedi operatives. This is appropriate. Nowhere does it say the attack was to get this one guy, or that he was a target of the attack.

Quote it then from that article.

For posters other than the two already here in denial.

The first sentence of the news report:
The government says the attack, supported by U.S. intelligence,

Third paragraph:
Anwar al Awlaki, a cleric who communicated with the accused Ft. Hood gunman before the attack last month at the Army base and who afterward applauded the carnage that left 13 dead, is among those who "were presumed to be at the site," the Yemeni government statement said.

Does not say he was the target of the attack, or that we even knew he was there.

If he's taking up arms against the US, then he's a target. So sad.

:lamo

We never know anything for sure until we get eyes on the ground. But, it was presumed he was there. The strike was aided by US intelligence. Obama is the Commander in Chief.:doh

Obama is targeting an American citizen for death with missile strikes. That is a fact.

What don't you understand about that???

That FACT is not supported by the article. So it is not fact at all.

What don't you understand about that?

You're trying to spin the article to say something it doesn't-- Oops, busted!

Sorry, friend, your **** stinks pretty bad on this one.

Better luck next time.:2wave:

This latest air strike is merely the latest in a series of ongoing attacks (noted below) ordered by Obama, aided by US intelligence and targeting an American citizen.

U.S. Military Attacks al Qaeda in Yemen for Second Time

Second Attack in a Week May Have Targeted Imam Who Advised Fort Hood Shooter

By PIERRE THOMAS

It appears that Yemen is emerging as a focal point in the U.S. government's ongoing war against terror. For the second time in a week, an attack against suspected al Qaeda operatives was launched in Yemen with U.S. support, sources tell ABC News. A radical imam associated with the suspect in the recent Fort Hood massacre could be among the dead.
. . .
Among those targeted: Nasser Al-Wuhayshi, the regional al Qaeda leader and his deputy, Saeed Al-Shihri. Also presumed to be at the gathering of suspected militants, Anwar Al-Awlaki, the radical imam who exchanged e-mails with Nidal Hasan, the U.S. Army officer accused of murdering soldiers at Fort Hood.

Um... putting things in bold doesn't cover up the moronic spin you're trying to lay on us.

**** still stinks, daddy-o.

In general, persistence and getting back on the horse is a good thing... but in this case, you can bend, spin, misconstrue the facts as many time as you want, but it's still not going to say what you so desperately want it to say...

What a doofus question.
As I thought. Can't answer the question, and can't provide anything of value with respect to a well reasoned argument.:lamo

Empty rhetoric tendered in a pathetic transparent attempt to hide your partisan denial of the obvious. :lamo

This is good stuff.

Yeah.

The Constitution has what to do with attacking an enemy camp?

What, that absolutely NOTHING in the article backs up anything you're trying to say?? That is what's obvious.

This is baiting thread, trying to stir **** up on Friday night with an outrageous title that is not backed up by any facts...

You just bored or what? Not getting enough attention?

The article backs my comments. Your frustration in not being able to refute anything is noted.
