Which is the same thing as saying "If I have a kid I can write him off on my taxes. Therefor if I don't have a kid I'm fined by the government by more taxes. The government is forcing me to have kids!"

They also are making me buy a house.

There isn't just one option that you can pick from. There's many plans and as long as it fits the minimum criteria it's all good. Most plans already do. By definition, if there are at least two plans to pick from, you're getting a choice. Unless you're claiming that they are banning all insurance plans and companies except for one you are wrong. If you are claiming that then please provide evidence.

Just noting....... Most people that know me are surprised and I believe some do not even believe me still that I didn't vote for McCain. I've voted GOP in the presidential election every time since 1984. (I turned 18 in Oct of 1979 and really had other things on my mind at the time).

I believe more and more are having a difficult time voting for the choices that are gave. Even if in the end they go ahead and vote for what they believe is the lesser of two evils, I wouldn't dismiss a statement right now from someone having a difficult time making the same old votes they did in the past.

Is there any secret that he can afford it? Or are you saying he should not be able to afford it while other Americans can't? Or that if he can afford it, he shouldn't be talking about helping poor people who can't afford it?

Look at it in anyway, using the fact that he visits his birthplace, where he grew up, where he might want his children to get to know as part of their father's history, is an attack of the silly illogical sort practiced by Fox and followers.

Actually, as your article states, Obama overpaid his taxes:

"Through withholding and estimated tax payments during the year, the Obamas paid $466,104 to the Internal Revenue Service. That was an overpayment, so they are getting a $12,334 refund."

Lol, oh lord lets see if I can explain this to you.

He did in fact pay on a 35% tax bracket. That only applies to income over $372,951. Everything below that you pay the tax rate that it is under. If you earn 100,000, even though that puts you under the 25% bracket (filing jointly) that isn't the exact rate you pay because not all of your 100,000 is taxed at that rate. This isn't something they only do for the president.

He paid the taxes that he was obligated to pay and if the tax rates on the wealthy are raised, he will pay those elevated taxes also.

So what say you about Job Core, Pell Grant, Subsidized or Unsubsidzed student loans, the government helping people out that get laid off to go back to school to make more money (which in turn, becomes more tax dollars for them in the future) I could go on. Government of course is not the only answer, but the government is here to serve the people, and sometimes it does a good job.
 
He is right-it is during tough times like these that the middle class (which is dying thanks to the rightwingers) are what save this damn country. Time and time again! The middle class is what keeps this damn country flowing and why you do not have riots in the streets. They along with the poor are this countrys saving grace. It is damn sure not that of those on the Hill and/or the rich.

Because we have a marginal tax rate system, which means you pay taxes on earnings that fall within a particular tax bracket and if there is more income you'll pay the rate in that bracket and so on. So Obama pays 10% for all income below $16,750 and 15% for income above $16,750 and below $34,000 and so on.

Because there are such things as tax write-offs, deductions etc. If you own a house, have kids etc. you get deductions. Have you ever filed for taxes before?
