Obama publicly admits he's a failure. If he can see it why can't liberals here see it

Obama on his Self-Pity Tour: 2011

Like a leaky balloon, Barack Obama keeps getting smaller. "The president is declaring to the world that he is simply too weak to govern," Peter Wehner observes. "Not only that, he wants all of America to know that he's darn frustrated about it. You can even hear it in his voice." That last comment isn't Wehner's evaluation but a paraphrase of the president's own words: "Maybe you hear it in my voice--that's why I'm frustrated. Because you deserve better."

Wait, it gets worse. Last night Obama was in New York for a fund-raiser. At that event he elaborated on the "you deserve better" theme: "What was remarkable was to see outside of Washington the enthusiasm, the energy, the hopefulness, the decency of the American people. And what I said to them is you deserve better. You deserve better than you've been getting out of Washington over the last 2½ months--for that matter, for the last 2½ years."

For the last 2½ years. Is that not as explicit an acknowledgment of failure as has ever been heard from a sitting president?

This is what America gets for electing an incompetent man with no executive experience who is the posterboy for the Peter Principle.

He has been a failure, but his lack of executive experience is not why. How much executive experience did Abraham Lincoln have? The man served ONE term (that's 2 years) in the House of Representatives which came 20 years before he was President. Lincoln did OK.

I think his lack of experience has a part to play in it, but he's just not a leader. It's not in him. A lack of experience can be overcome given the right personal characteristics but he (Obama) just doesn't have what it takes. He's way over his head on so many fronts... I think the biggest mistake he made was also what got him elected. The amount of rhetoric and promises he made (and subsequently this drove the very high expectations of the American people who voted him into office based on those promises) were beyond the pale; coupled with the mood of the country it was a perfect mixture. The reality however has now set in where those who had such high expectations are now wondering what happened.

Well I just feel like a 5th child in our family rather than a wife sometimes - I told that to my husband and he was hurt like I stabbed him in the back.

 Individuals usually don't see theirselves how others see theirselves.

This nation is divided, and nobody is going to fix it... the parities are ruined this country, and it's destined to fail. All presidents are going to have to put up with this kind of smearing now. All presidents will be a failure. It's great for our country.

He is absolutely right. The infighting over the last 2.5 years is starting to seriously harm the country.

And a lot of people thought Bush was massive failure too... The GOP leader is Mitt Romney, and I don't think he is very promising as a leader. He can't even stick to his guns. What kind of leader constantly backs out of all his statements? The guy has no balls... we aren't going to get anybody better than Obama. Romney isn't going to fix anything Obama failed to fix.

Which makes the OP hilarious.

Its pretty obvious by the context of what is posted that Obama is speaking for all of Washington and not himself personally.

I agree, it's not all the president's fault... The congress and senate are full of a bunch of idiots. The problem is the extremist in both parties. I think this nation would be a lot better off if we just elected moderates that worked together.

How can you say that the bottom of the barrel is the best that there is in this nation?

If only the extremist didn't get so much attention.

I agree. It is good that people fight for their principals, as long as they hold their principals honestly and sincerely. However, what people seem to not recognize is that the country is pretty evenly split on most issues, so even if we each have our principals, we have to live within a society where people will have other ideas and that means we cannot realistically have everything we want and will have to compromise, because of the sheer weight of numbers, if nothing else.

We seem to have lost this little bit of wisdom.

And therein is your biggest problem.

"working together" has become the ultimate no no. Because if you've spent a great deal of time and effort trying to make your opponent seem like an evil communist foreign occupier, turning around and working with them is unnacceptable to the people that elected you.

Until that changes there's no hope.

How can you say that the bottom of the barrel is the best that there is in this nation?

I thought so, but apparently some are confused.

Its called selective reading.

Because both parties in our two party political system come from the bottom of the barrel... I expect no better than Obama until people start electing different types of candidates and expect a better government, not extremism, and give Obama and the next president a Congress and Senate that has an approval rating over 10.

Re: Obama publicly admits he's a failure. If he can see it why can't liberals here se

We were having this same discussion in the late 70's. We had just went through Watergate and Carter had run the economy off a cliff. We then elected a leader that believed in the country.

The problem is, I don't see a comparable person running today.

How is it in Canada? You guys haven't been in the news lately, and you are not rioting in the streets... I really don't know much about the Canadian government...

Indeed it is. Obama has even came over to the dark side.

Linocln was a terrible president, but that's a whole other thread in itself.

Yeah that whole saving the Union thing, big mistake!!

Yeah that whole saving the Union thing, big mistake!!

A surprisingly large number of people still believe that.

Fortunately, it seems to be a dying belief.

Ridding of Habeus Corpus, locking up journalists for things they said, closing down newspapers because they said things he didn't like. Ya these were just great things in the history of America.
