LOL, yet "your" President yesterday said "We are at war" so which is it, war or police action?
Do we try enemy combatants in U.S. Courts under U.S. Constitutional Rights or just continue to attack villages with drones without giving the innocents there U.S. Constitutional Rights?
The liberal response I believe is going to be "Do Nothing" Here is a consummate liberal, Ted Koppel outlaying it to the BBC.
BBC News - World News America - Is Obama 'overreacting' to Al Qaeda?
j-mac
Koppel is correct. He isn't suggesting nothing be done (a miss reading it appears on your part), but noting that we over reacted. Keeping our head, not running around screaming our hair is on fire, is a more proper reaction.
then why is your man pursuing a more aggressive approach? That has to just tick you off.
j-mac
He's smarter than Bush, but if he gets to aggressive and invades Yeman, I'll declare him a fool like Bush. When will this sink in, it's not about people or parties, but about actions and policy.
Smarter? I don't know about that. More cynical, and secretive....yes.
And Nah, it's about party with you. I know that for a fact.
j-mac
No, it's not. But again, you confuse fact with opinion.
Nah, I think you are projecting here.

If this is true, I think the entire Democrat Congress should be censured for not impeaching GWB.I commend you on your stamina with this exhausting thread/subject. Keep in mind, all those who blindly defend all of Bush's illegal, immoral and unconstitutional actions, no matter what the facts are, don't think that any "innocents" were kidnapped, imprisoned, renditioned or tortured (some to death!) no matter what the facts prove. Some also don't seem to believe that "the rule of law" or the U.S. Constitution applies to non U.S. citizens. Hmmm... maybe there's a second version of the Constitution floating around out there that we haven't seen yet.
Keep up the good fight.
It's not always easy to do the right thing.

Anyway back on topic, maybe we should consider covering Tora-Bora and northeastern Pakistan with pork rind dust. We could call it Agent Pink unlike the real Agent Pink.

And it's even worse than that. Obama calls it a war, but then reads enemy combatants Miranda rights and give them a lawyer and trial in civilian criminal court. It's lunacy. Even by his own standards.Wrong. Bush knew it was a war on Terror. Obama no longer calls it a war on terror and has now made it a war on AlQaeda only.
I said he had a history.
Actually we kidnapped civilians in WWII. And didn't count them as POW or non combatants. We knew even then that it was wrong. It was mostly kept secret.
I said choose a rule of law, but don't be silly and say they are spies. Or even Saboteurs.
Same due process due all men. Remember, some are innocent. And innocent men are due justice. Not knowing which are which requires a process of knowing, due process. Rule of law.

wade into them, spilled their blood and don't stop hammering them until they are on their knees. In the long run this would be the short run.So...You're the president of the United States. A failed terrorist attempt just occurred. The government of the country in which the terrorist comes from is willing to work with you...It's 3 am. What do you do?
Your comparing apples to oranges, the murders in the U.S. are committed mostly by U.S. citizens, the constitution is clear in this regard. Attacks by terrorist are committed by people outside this country and the government's 1st and foremost duty is to protect it's citizens from outside attacks. To ignore this would make us insignificant in the eyes of the world. So under your theory we should have ignored Pearl Harbor?More people were shot by some white christian loony in St. Louis since the last time I posted in this thread.
While you were arguing about the "differences of civilizations," or how dying at the hands of a Muslim is worse than dying by way of crazy white guys, more white guys killed white guys. That's my only point, and none of you understand it.
While you guys were debating about the Ft. Hood shooting the days after it happened, people were shot mass shooting style in Atlanta. There was the gym shooter too.
Here - There have been an average of 44.5 murders every day in the United States since 9/11.
Its been about 3,000 days since 9/11 when roughly 3,000 people died.
That's an average of ONE murder every day by Muslim extremists in the US.
How can this be anymore straight forward? You guys are so worried about something that statistically speaking is ultimately insignificant.
You are 44x more likely to be killed by a US citizen than you are by a terrorist. But lets fight a war against Islam...
Let's talk about Ft. Hood while people are getting shot in their offices, police are getting shot in the coffee shop and people are getting shot at their family's Christmas parties.
Terrorists want us to continue this conversation.... They want us to think they are significant. They want us to say things like...
TERRORISTS AREN'T GOING TO CHANGE THE AMERICAN WAY OF LIFE!!!!!
(so long as we pass the patriot act so WE change the american way of life)
And then on top of that, Obama continues to incarcerate still other enemy combatants indefinitely without charges. There is no logic to his policy. We're in a war but some of our enemies get civilian trials and Miranda rights while others are locked up for as long as we like with no charges. It's madness.Exactly right, Obama calls this a War against al Qaeda and there is no question that KSM the mastermind behind the 9/11 attacks is a member of al Qaeda yet is being brought to this country and given U.S. Constitutional Rights. No wonder the American people are angry. This is indefensible and Boo runs from that reality.
How is this different than during most other wars America has engaged in?More people were shot by some white christian loony in St. Louis since the last time I posted in this thread.
