Obama another Jimmy Carter?

They are clones, 2 peas in a pod.........McCain will wipe the floor with Obama........You think its bad with Hillary........You ain't seen nothing yet.........

I don't think so, McCain lacks of personality.

Ire, if you don't mind me asking, what do you think about Obama's policy to spend 50 billion dollars to try and fix up the 10 poorest countries in the world? I don't believe 50 billion will even scratch the surface, and shouldn't we be spending that money on our country since we are in a recession? How do you feel about that policy? It's on his website... either he is going to have to compromise and not go through.. or spend even less then 50 billion, or spend 50 billion when we are in a recession? If he goes through with his promise, then isn't he spending a large amount of money that could go to our country? What say you?

I think its still not enough.
But as far as giving away money during a recession goes...

McCain is trying to piss away half that much just to buy votes in a way that helps no one.
This gas tax crap is going to cost us billions and help only truckers.
Truckers do need some help, but this is barely going to help them and have the opposite effect on the average American.
Saving a buck or 2 in change each week will do nothing but wind up on the floorboard.
And for that floorboard change, we end up with a government that is already billions in debt that is now losing billions more.

The wost part about it is that once this "tax relief" is through, gas will jump the 18 cents in addition to the normal steady increase that is already taking place.
The "tax relief" won't even be noticed by the American people with gas rising every day already.
But McCain will have bought himself some votes with our own tax dollars.

50 billion in aid still would not even place us in the top 10 for aid vs GNP.
But at least it would help save lives and feed people.

Ire this is what I was referring to.

Not IMO. No one called Carter the great communicator.

I'll read you some tidbits you left out about Carter. This is straight out of "The American Paradox" by Steven M. Gillon

You said that. It wasn't in "quotes" so I thought you were stating that. That's why I thought you had the book. Heh.

I thought Kissenger stayed on during Carter's admin? Sorry if i was mistaken.

Ire let me see if I can find you what Obama states on his site.

Ah, it seems I may have misread some of his statement. Here it is.

Fight Global Poverty: Obama will embrace the Millennium Development Goal of cutting extreme poverty around the world in half by 2015, and he will double our foreign assistance to $50 billion to achieve that goal. He will help the world's weakest states to build healthy and educated communities, reduce poverty, develop markets, and generate wealth.

He will DOUBLE the money so he will only spend 25 billion extra since he is doubling our current to 50 billion. Cutting extreme poverty in half by 2015... kinda broad... he should elaborate. Ah and I don't know where I got the 10 countries but here we are "Help the worlds weakest states to build healthy and educated communities..." How does one define educated? What if their beliefs are different? Like radical islam? What if some of these "poorest" states do not want to be changed? Will they receive money anyway? Will an increase in 25 billion truly develope or help these countries in a significant way? Should the tax payer be paying for this? Since democrats say we are spending far to much, should we really spend on this type of program?

I hope this clears that up Irie. And please don't take me as some hardcore conservative who can't defend my points and just does ..... after everything I type "no names" I listen to the other side, I hear what yall have to say, I too think honesty, trust, and hope should be renewed in Washington. I just am comfortable saying I have no earthly clue how that is going to happen. Thank you.

No I don't, it's hard to justify spending money on other nations when our leaders can't take care of business at home. But you could make that excuse for all charity.

I do think that the presence of additional aid worldwide helps to promote greater appreciation of the US abroad and shows we are trying to be a good world citizen. That kind of stuff helps, IMO. I know others disagree.
