NYT: We Were Badly Misled About the Event That Changed Our Lives

Look how the lefties go partisan right away in reaction to this huge admission from the NYT.

Shouldn't we all be angry that we were lied to about something that killed millions?
You speak of partisanship. Are you angry that Taco lied to us through the entirety of his first term in regards to COVID?

Wrong. ^^^^^
You are welcome to provide the science behind your assertion but we know you have none.

Tell me. Modern medicine can cure cancers, prevent heart attacks, replace livers and kidneys.
But you think the same medical professionals have it all wrong about vaccines?

Please explain.

I mean if you get cancer do you plan on getting treatment from right wing bloggers?

The dude who still claims the discredited Proximal Origins paper is proof that covid was zoonotic is talking about facts and science?

🤣 🤣 🤣

Please provide the science supporting your position.

Oops that’s right . You can’t. Meanwhile I provided SEVERAL citations supporting zoonotic transmission.

Cripes your “ discrediting” isn’t any science it’s a right wing conspiracy theory

For the majority of Americans NOT taking the vaccine would fit easily into any honest risk analysis concluding it was acceptable risk to opt out of the shot.
Only the logically challenged believe that BS and yes there are a lot of logically challenged Americans as proven by the fact a felon won the election

Its true. The majority of Americans were not at risk of severe covid therefore making the vaccine moot for many.

In fact, only 4 out of 10 were at severe risk.

And then, the risk was divided among race, ethnicity, and age.

Here is the thing. How did those 6 out of 10 know they weren’t at risk?

How do you know they won’t discover you have prostate cancer next week? , or have an immunosuppressive disease?

The author points out that those who speculated that the virus came from lab leaks were considered to be "kooks and cranks," but goes on to affirm that some, in fact, were. And now they have a dangerous legitimacy that is apt to make things worse, not better.

"It’s not hard to imagine how the attempt to squelch legitimate debate might have started. Some of the loudest proponents of the lab leak theory weren’t just earnestly making inquiries; they were acting in terrible faith, using the debate over pandemic origins to attack legitimate, beneficial science, to inflame public opinion, to get attention. For scientists and public health officials, circling the wagons and vilifying anyone who dared to dissent might have seemed like a reasonable defense strategy.

That’s also why it might be tempting for those officials or the organizations they represent to avoid looking too closely at mistakes they made, at the ways that, while trying to do such a hard job, they might have withheld relevant information and even misled the public. Such self-scrutiny is especially uncomfortable now, as an unvaccinated child has died of measles and anti-vaccine nonsense is being pumped out by the top of the federal government. But a clumsy, misguided effort like this didn’t just fail; it backfired. These half-truths and strategic deceptions made it easier for people with the worst motives to appear trustworthy while discrediting important institutions where many earnestly labor in the public interest."
And Some of our Public Health officials were either kooks and cranks or deliberately Lying to us. Good reason to take anything Anyone says to us in this area with more than a grain of salt .

If the Biden admin had not been so heavy handed, aka, bullying, I believe more could have been convicted to take the vaccine.

But the intense pressure didn't align with the risk. Then one had to ask why? They admit they lacked data yet made unreasonable demands of Americans anyway.

They wanted to provide a solution in search of a problem.

Neither were true.

For sure Trump left the door open.
Biden just opened it wider, and didn't take steps that slowed the number of horses escaping.

Neither is good, for sure.
What does "left the door open" even mean? I know that Trump opened the door to Americans in China who came back here in droves and they were not quarantined or monitored. By the time Biden came in the horses were all gone.

I'm not the one who thinks taking advice from a brain worm is a good idea
Do you have anything other to say that brain dead talking points?

you realize that age race and ethnicity still doesn’t determine whether in individual is at severe risk. Right?

It determines increased risk within the 4 out of 10 who are at severe risk.

Has anyone figured out a way to diplomatically suggest to their friends or family members that repeat COVID infections may have given them subtle frontal lobe damage that decreases empathy and the ability to accurately assess risks?

No it doesn’t. Say a person has an undiagnosed cancer.
which puts them at severe risk. How would they know they need the vaccine.
Say a person has an undiagnosed heart problem. That puts them at severe risk? How would they know?

Are you saying that President Trump's Operation Warp Speed was a waste of taxpayer money? Yes or No will do.

You know. This is not as crazy as you think.
Rather early on in the pandemic a physician on on of the cruise ships did a study where he took CAT scans of the lungs of patients who had Covid and those who tested positive for Covid but were asymptomatic.
He found that the asymptomatic patients with Covid had what are known as “ ground glass” opacities in their lungs .

My fear is that years from now we will discover “ Covid syndrome” , especially in unvaccinated adults and children . . Perhaps an increase in COPD , or asthma etc.

Acceptable risk.

You appear to struggle at statistics.

Acceptable risk.

You appear to struggle at statistics.
How is it acceptable risk?
You said 4 out of 10 had risk of severe illness .

You could unbeknownst to you be in that high risk pool. You may have an undiagnosed cancer, an undiagnosed heart problem , or undiagnosed clotting issue, . Or you may develop one in the future,
Heck , you pointed out age was a factor in that risk. Each year you age your risk goes up .
Tell us vysky, when you reach a certain age will you then take the vaccine??

Now here is the thing , you could be or develop into that high risk group 4/10.

Now show me the evidence that shows 4/10 people who get vaccinated have sever illness or death.

Getting vaccinated is what smart people do..

of course you believe that.

Yet, your comments about the covid vaccine does not really support the position of No.
How so?
