NYT: Trump’s ‘Great National Infrastructure Program’? Stalled [W:258]

We had two choices, Hillary or Trump, didn't like either but voted for Trump who had zero political experience and wouldn't continue the Obama agenda. I am getting what i voted for, actual results matter not tweets. Not sure what you are looking at but BLS sure shows that businesses are paying attention as is the stock market that set another record today. As a business person I would never invest or grow my business knowing that Obama was going to penalize me through higher taxes

Did Obama in fact raise taxes? Has Trump lowered them?

or is all that just partisan rhetoric?

You tell me what the EO's regarding ACA did? then there is the Trump tax policy under debate right now. He has been in office 6 months and the hatred from the left is the worst I have ever seen totally ignoring anything positive that has been done. The EO's were positive, the jobs performance is positive, the stock market went over 21800 today so call that partisan rhetoric but I call that results and business reacting to someone in the WH that isn't going to punish them for success

Interesting.

When did Obama raise taxes?
When did Trump lower taxes?

Doesn't Congress determine the tax rate anyway?

Obama raised taxes when he signed ACA and Trump lowered them when he reversed that taxes in ACA

Good. Leave some fruit on the vine for others.

I give Trump credit for continuing the economy in a positive direction (something that you never have and never will give Obama credit for)....but don't fool yourself Con....the Stock market has been climbing steadily for the last 4 years. Unemployment has been dropping for the last several years as well. So before you refer to someone has "partisan rhetoric" take a look at your own posts. However, I know that like Trump....you aren't capable of doing that....so the irony goes right over your head.

Trump hasn't lowered taxes in the ACA...what are you talking about.
So there still is a tax for non compliance? How is President Hillary doing?

You are so right, I personally want to thank Barack Obama for giving us Donald Trump. That positive economic growth from 1.6% in 2016 is staggering

Thank you for demonstrating my point Con....you walked right into it. Too funny!

Trump’s ‘Great National Infrastructure Program’? Stalled

There are some interesting takeaways from this article.

1: Trump dropped the ball...

2. Ineptitude:

3. Plan relies upon private partners:

4. Reps don't want to be bipartisan:

Trump;s infrastructure is just more profit for the Corporate Welfare Queens. All the money goes to big Corporations to "trickle down" and I've had enough of those little brown balls that trickle down. Infrastructure should be targetted to LOCAL, not public Corporate. Projects that keep monies rolling in local communities, not Corporate that siphons most of the money off the top. Renewable energy, energy efficient housing, small farms, local industries resource centric to location, free Internet, satellite telephony, etc.

Everything the fat orange slob has tried has flopped. He needs to start believing he is doomed.

Is Gitmo closed?
Was that one of Trump's promises?

No.

Is this thread about Obama?

No.

I can see the gears in your head creaking and sputtering..."Damn, he brought up a point that I can't refute, what do I do? Concede in a dignified manner? No, no, that's not me. Intelligently discuss the point? No, that's not me, either. Oh, I know, I'll divert to something totally unrelated. Intelligent people never fall for it, but I would so it must be good... ***OBAMA!!!***."

It was one of Obama's promises. He also promised to end illegal surveillance. He increased it. You folks were and still are crickets.

Failures of politicians aside I would totally LOVE the right infrastructure bill (which should include UTILITIES also). It's should be a very large term plan, with recurring aspects and should focus a lot at the local level. It should also have some money in it for R&D for new ideas. Other nations are ahead of us in many ways in these areas. I know it's way easier said then done but IMO one thing I'd love to see before I die (I'm still younger) is high speed trains if they prove to be feasible here in the states.(Terrain is an obvious issue) Not all of these but ill do my area first.pittsburgh to philly, pittsburgh to DC, DC to baltimore/philly, Philly to new york, Pittsburgh to Columbus to cincinnati to Louisville to Nashville. Making commute times like from philly to DC 30 mins. Pittsburgh to columbus 2hrs. Stuff like that can greatly improve out infrastructure and economy in my lowly opinion. :)

Others could be Charlotte to Atlanta, Nashville to Atlanta, Nashville to Louisville, San antonio to houston, San antonio to Dallas, Dallas to Houston. Stuff like that. Next I'd love to see are utilities improve greatly, especially internet/communications. But I fear stuff like this will never bee done in my lifetime and the US will never do it until its critical and too late.

Good post. I'm with you, I'd like to see a plan and have it carried out. And I don't give a rat's ass which party gets credit for it.

As far as high-speed trains, another factor that we have that other countries don't is distance. Just the sheer distances make them prohibitively expensive, at least right now. Though some of the shorter corridors you mention could be doable and a place to start.

Amen!

Exactly and I agree, you are right, NY to LA isn't feasible but tri state stuff like I had in mind could get down if terrain doesn't make it to monumentally to large. A DC/Baltimore/Philly/Newyork would be awesome. So would a triangle in texas from Dallas, to San Antonio to Houston. And A Long one from Nashville to Louisville to cincinnati to columbus to pittsburgh would be great, do it in sections, could incorporate Indianapolis in there too. Now of course thats just my thinking while Im sitting my but in a chair in front of a computer haha. For all I know geography and terrain may make some of those routs impossible but it needs explored.

It forces people who don't want insurance to pay a tax for not having insurance, those people got a tax increase

So, when those people go to the emergency room and are treated, who should have to pay? You? Me? Sorry, Charlie, I'm all paid out. Let them pay a fee for that service.
