NSA Scraps Iran and Hezbollah As Terror Threats......

1.)Iran helped overthrow the Taliban and continues to aid the Afghanistan government in combating the Taliban
2.) I wish your source would quote the whole part of the document to give proper context: "Concurrently, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps – Quds Force (IRGC-QF)
provides calibrated lethal aid to the Taliban to attrite ISAF and expedite force withdrawal.
Tehran is opposed to a U.S.-Afghan Bilateral Security Agreement, which it fears will lead to the
establishment of permanent U.S. bases in Afghanistan. However, Iran fears a precipitous
departure of NATO forces will increase instability on its border and perhaps lead to the return of
the Taliban. At a minimum, Iran seeks to ensure its security concerns are addressed by
maintaining pressure on GIRoA officials and seeking its own security agreement with Kabul."
http://www.defense.gov/pubs/April_1230_Report_Final.pdf

3.)As you know the Taliban is not a terrorist organization as defined by the US government.

Your dodge about sponsoring terrorism is noted. Any sponsor is a terrorist threat.

How is it a dodge? The Taliban isnt even considered a terrorist organization by our government... Your example doesnt even hold to be true. Nor does the report state that Iran "is not supporting terrorism" it states that Iran is not a TERRORIST THREAT...

Iran just backed the coup in Yemen.....they have been working against US interests and they have killed Americans. Supplying Hamas and Hezbollah with rockets to fire on Israel and creating the sectarian rift to be what it is.

The Pentagon's report isn't wrong like you think, and again.....sponsoring terrorism makes them a terrorist threat.

What did BO peep and Susan Rice just try to do here? Why would the NSA remove Iran and Hezbollah from the terrorism list. Has BO peep and his Team Lost their damn minds. The Dept of Defense has them listed. What did BO think this would help him get his Deal with the Iranians. This BS needs to be dealt with and BO should make public what he tries to hide from, and at the very least Susan Rice should be called forth to a full Congress.....Immediately! What say ye?

According to a report in The Times of Israel, the National Intelligence Agency delivered a report to Congress that scraps Iran and Hezbollah from the terrorism list, citing the country's work against ISIS as one of the reasons why. An annual report delivered recently to the US Senate by James Clapper, the director of National Intelligence, removed Iran and Hezbollah from its list of terrorism threats, after years in which they featured in similar reports.

The unclassified version of the Worldwide Threat Assessment of the US Intelligence Communities, dated February 26, 2015 (PDF), noted Iran’s efforts to combat Sunni extremists, including those of the ultra-radical Islamic State group, who were perceived to constitute the preeminent terrorist threat to American interests worldwide.

“We believe that this results from a combination of diplomatic interests (the United States’ talks with Iran about a nuclear deal) with the idea that Iran could assist in the battle against the Islamic State in Syria and Iraq and maybe even in the battle against jihadist terrorism in other countries,” the Meir Amit Intelligence and Terrorism Information Center said in an analysis of the report (Hebrew PDF). It also noted the Iran and Hezbollah were both listed as terrorism threats in the assessment of another American body, the Defense Intelligence Agency....snip~

In The Middle of Nuclear Negotiations, NSA Scraps Iran and Hezbollah As Terror Threats - Katie Pavlich

The worlds #1 nation for funding terrorism is not longer on the list of terrorist threats. That could only make sense to the dumb@$$ in the white house.

Some liberals think because the US has a separation of church and state, ALL nations have the same. The is certainly NOT true with islamic states, the religion IS the state.

The usual suspects screeching about this report are only reading what they want to read.

A rational person understands the only reason O is magically doing this all of a sudden is so the world banking system to can free unfettered interaction in Iran, which will make it even easier for Iran to launder and fund terrorism. Know why , Big Lebowski?

I'm reading the report now. Iran is mentioned under the subheading of "Weapons of Mass Destruction and Proliferation," regarding its nuclear ambitions, which falls under the main heading of "Global Threats." It's also mentioned under the "Cyber" and "Counterintelligence" subheadings in the same part of the report.

Under the main "Regional Threats" heading, Iran has its own subheading, with the clear first sentence:

The Islamic Republic of Iran is an ongoing threat to US national interests because of its support to the Asad regime in Syria, promulgation of anti-Israeli policies, development of advanced military capabilities, and pursuit of its nuclear program.

So really, Iran is clearly in the report and specified as a threat; they're just not mentioned as a bullet point under the "terrorism" section. Oh, the horror.

A rational person understands the only reason O is magically doing this all of a sudden is so the world banking system to can free unfettered interaction in Iran, which will make it even easier for Iran to launder and fund terrorism. Know why , Big Lebowski?

Oh, I can't wait for you to tell me why, given how unhinged you've come across so far.

Britain, fearful of Iran's plans to nationalize its oil industry, came up with the idea for the coup in 1952 and pressed the United States to mount a joint operation to remove the prime minister.
The C.I.A. and S.I.S., the British intelligence service, handpicked Gen. Fazlollah Zahedi to succeed Prime Minister Mohammed Mossadegh and covertly funneled $5 million to General Zahedi's regime two days after the coup prevailed.
Iranians working for the C.I.A. and posing as Communists harassed religious leaders and staged the bombing of one cleric's home in a campaign to turn the country's Islamic religious community against Mossadegh's government.

Oh, I can't wait for you to tell me why, given how unhinged you've come across so far.

Geez,...I already told you, pay attention. It is all about the Patriot Act restriction on banking with countries/groups on 'the list'. Unbelievable.

Well, Iran did take away BO's Trophy of Yemen as a success story. Did you forget about the Americans that the Iranians killed in Iraq?
unfreaking real.. as Bib did say of Iran
:" The enemy of your enemy is STILL your enemy!!"
Just because Iran/Hez go up against ISIL doesn't mean they are they own brand of terrorist / state sponser of terrorism

In a rare interview with the New York Times Last September, Hezbollah’s newly appointed public relations chief, Mohammed Afif, implicitly acknowledged the rise of an indirect coordination in the fight against terror between the party and Washington, though their broader goals and views sharply diverge.

“All have an interest to keep the peace” in Lebanon, Afifi told the NYT, but added that each had its own ways to combat their common enemy.

The U.S. paper suggested that American intelligence had indirectly shared information with Hezbollah that helped the party stop suicide attacks in its stronghold in the southern suburb of Beirut

It's not very convincing to imply you're opposed to ISIS, while at the same time covering for another group of Islamist fanatics in Tehran that has been responsible for the murders of thousands of Americans, both civilians and servicemen. It's less convincing yet when you accompany it with the implied anti-Semitic slander that Israel is the hidden hand guiding U.S. foreign policy. Before B. Hussein Obama, every U.S. president since Israel's creation in 1948--even Carter--considered Israel a close ally of this country.

Andy McCarthy hit the nail on the head in his very fine book, "The Grand Jihad: How Islam and the Left Sabotage America".

Show me proof that Iran has killed thousands of Americans. Im waiting.

Well in that case we should consider Isreal as a threat since they sponsor terrorists too.

You asked me if I know why they would want to do that. You tell me.

You should tell this idiot Sheehan about the eight year Iranian war with Iraq, or the treatment of Jews by Muslims. It's better to quote intelligent people.
Well in that case we should consider Isreal as a threat since they sponsor terrorists too.
Muslims have long been jealous of Jewish success while they continue to live centuries behind. It is Muslims creating terror throughout the world, not Jews.

Quoting intelligent people?

Like your pal matchlight who claims thousands of Americans were killed by Iran?

Seems you guys have gone over to pure fantasy now. Its ridiculous assertions like these that are the reasons I cant take neocons seriously.

Wrong. Isreal has been annexing land that isnt theirs. Thats the whole reason for hostility against them.

You've got a long wait. What I said is completely accurate, and whether you believe it does not concern me. If some other poster makes what I think is a good faith request for more details, I may supply them. This has been going on for thirty-five years, so there are quite a few attacks to compile.

Right here: "The Islamic Republic of Iran is an ongoing threat to US national interests because of its support to the Asad regime in Syria, promulgation of anti-Israeli policies, development of advanced military capabilities, and pursuit of its nuclear program."
And here: "For example, Iran’s intelligence and security services continue to view the United States as a primary threat and have stated publicly that they monitor and counter US activities in the region"
Both found in the report..

Seriously?
You give examples of why Iran is a threat and you claim that these show it isn't one?

Except it does. When Iranian groups are not directly attacking US forces, and instead are fighting the same enemy we are, it means their groups are currently not a direct terrorist threat.

Then why don't you claim that ISIS and al-Qaeda should not be opposed as well?
After all the Sunni terrorists are fighting Shiite terrorists, so according to you they currently aren't a threat right?
Ridiculous. You're taking sides with one type of terrorists over the other (and the more dangerous type) and that's all there is to it.

Iran and (to a lesser extent) Hezbollah were not a serious threat of direct terrorist attacks on America and (imo) the NSA should have removed them from these lists years ago.
But, like most things, the government had put it into the masses heads that these two were horrible terrorist sources...which was in the last decade or so, a huge exaggeration (again, especially Iran). Most Americans know squat about the world and the Middle East, so they tend to believe what the government/major U.S. news sources tell them...especially since 9/11. And the latter clearly says what the government wants them to say since 9/11 on war/terrorist issues.
The U.S. government hated Iran and loved Israel. So, since Iran funded Hezbollah and Israel hates Hezbollah (not without reason), then the American government hated both.
Now the government is trying to make a deal with Iran, they have to take Iran (and Hezbollah) off the terrorist list.

Actually, though I totally agree with taking Iran off of the list (not as sure about Hezbollah), I would not be surprised if this was a condition Iran asked for in return for dropping it's nuke program.

Quoting intelligent people?
Yes. try it some time.
Like your pal matchlight who claims thousands of Americans were killed by Iran?
No, like the idiot you quoted, Sheehan. That should have been clear.
Seems you guys have gone over to pure fantasy now. Its ridiculous assertions like these that are the reasons I cant take neocons seriously.
Then show where it's wrong and I'll show you where I'm absolutely correct. If you take a fool like Sheehan seriously any other opinions you might have along these lines will probably be as equally ridiculous.
Wrong. Isreal has been annexing land that isnt theirs. Thats the whole reason for hostility against them.
Wrong. Islamic hatred against all 'infidels', including Jews, have existed for centuries. But get on the proper thread if you want to discuss the Middle East and then get ripped apart by those who may have some interest in your opinions.

Yeah and.....just because it states they are not a current threat. Doesn't remove them as a threat. See how that works.

Well at least you can read once in a Blue Moon.....now whats your lame excuse for what the Israelis had to say about the report. While crying about usual suspects....which are ANY of those on the Right. Don't worry the Israelis wont bite.
