Shmoocon, a hacker conference that started today and runs through the weekend, includes a cutesy display with this exact dilemma. The text on the NSA’s display even says, “You know you want to try it!”

NSA official Rob Joyce tweeted out a photo of the display (above), and the spy agency says that it’s in on the joke.

“It’s tongue-in-cheek,” NSA media relations officer Chris Augustine told Gizmodo over the phone. “It was created for this event so that it would allow for... exactly what you’re seeing on Twitter.”

If I were the host, everyone would get a 'goodies bag' at the door. One of the items being a name badge with 3 tiny green LEDs as part of a logo. You would be invited to link your phone to the badge via Bluetooth to receive online discounts and more in-person rewards.

What would be left for you to discover on your own, is the 3 green LEDs represent 3 files stored on your badge. When a file is stolen from your badge (remember, hacker confrence), one of the LEDs turns blue. One of the files has loose encryption, one has moderate encryption, and one has hard (but not impossible) encryption.

Each file is a piece of a puzzle, it's your job to put the puzzle together by acquiring pieces from other people's badges.

• The loose encryption puzzle is a recipe (the exact dish can be whatever is populer) with a code and an IP address. Go to that IP address and use the code to have a kit, with all the ingredients and cookware, sent to your home for free.
• The moderate encryption puzzle upgrades your conference pass to the highest level, upgrades and pays for your hotel, and invites you to a private party with the leaders of the industry.
• The hard encryption puzzle is the account info to a Swiss bank account containing a large sum of money.
