I will be on vacation with no way to chat on a message board until May 5, then crash to recover from jet lag. So May 6 is the next time you will see me. I turned off all of my alerts.

Even if there was a desktop computer I could use somewhere, I would not want to use it. I have enough to do in France and at the Atlanta airport without wasting my time here.

Don't eat the fish while underway on Tuesday nights. Just saying.

Paris in the spring...have a great time!

Have a great time, PV. We'll see you when you get back!

If I recall correctly you are going on a Tauck river cruise. Tauck is amazing, absolutely amazing. You will really enjoy your experience. I'm jealous.

Tauck truly is amazing both on land at on water. It is also the #1 tour company for repeat customers, according to our AAA travel agent. You can easily see why.

Unfortunately a D-Day presentation and D-Day movie were at times we needed to be in our cabin, not the lounge. If they had been at tines that were good for us, we would have attended both events. So my mom suggested changing the D-Day movie to when all of the passengers can watch it. I fully expect Tauck to take her complaint seriously.

One of the things that makes Tauck amazing is its ship officer. I think that is his job title. If the ramp from the ship to the deck was steep, he said, "Can I help you?" and pushed my back the whole way up while I held onto the ropes, so I would not fall backward. on it. As someone with a slight balance disorder, I can't think him enough for helping me unsolicited. Sometimes the little things make a difference.

Paris one year before it is hosting the Olympics . . . not so much. This was our year to go because it had already been canceled twice, but there is a lot of "restoration" construction going on to make the city as perfect as possible for the 2024 Summer Olympics since millions of spectators (not to mention some of the athletes) will want to see all the big attractions while they are there. Part of that apparently is the Paris Opera House auditorium, which had been one of my mom's top priorities the whole time she planned it. Also, it is not the best time to see the Versailles Gardens anyway. But because of the Olympics next year, they turned all the fountains off and have scaffolding on one side of the main building.

Always make sure your next vacation city is not the next Olympics city if you travel internationally.

That's a shame! Hope the rest of your trip was worth it. Are you going to tell us all about what you visited? I love travel stories!

We were still able to go in Palais Garnier's fanciest room, just not the auditorium. At Versailles, the guided tour did not change, just the outside appearance.

I can't tell you everything, but can safely say despite having a lot of fun up there, I feel good about being back in the United States.

Does anyone have suggestions for recovering from a six-hour jet lag? I sit in my desk chair wondering if I should stay up or go to bed because I feel exhausted. but this is afternoon in France.
