No kidding half of all U.S. farm workers are undocumented

First of all, it's obvious that you are math challenged. I mean, I'm not a math whiz, but even I can see that half of 73% is not equal to half of 100%.

Anyway, farmers are just going to figure out how to make up the loss of 36% of their labor force. I have no sympathy for them, since they've been breaking the law for decaded.
I should have read more posts before I posted.
I'm sure someone has pointed this out already, but...
Half of migrant farm laborers being undocumented means half of 73%, which is 36.5%.
oops

Also, if Trump deported 36.5% of all farm labor in the US, and we had some kind of economic crisis because of it, then at that point if you want to call Trump a "genius" ironically you will maybe have a point.
Seems you're slightly jumping to conclusions, no offense.
Yes I messed up the percentages and admitted it, but I'm not aware of calling Trump a "genius." Not even remotely. He's an idiot. What's your point?

I take it you won't say a word if the price of veg goes through the roof in the next 4 years?
If it ends slave labor in this country it is a price we must pay. These people need to be documented and be here legally. They also must be paid a decent wage. No matter what it cost. I buy most of my food from local farmers who do not use illegal workers and the price seems reasonable affordable to me. All this illegal slave labor needs to end yesterday.

I agree with you about farm workers being paid a reasonable wage and people who work should have a route to citizenship.

It won't take that many to cause inflation and lost crops.

Yes, Democrats argued that when people wanted to free the slaves 160 years ago...

Turns out it wasn't that big of a deal, and things were better without underpaid manual labor who worked in fear.

To be honest, I think the tariffs will end in either a stalemate or with one or even all three countries looking for a face-saving way out. I don't think this will drag on forever.

It's the thought of failed harvests that concerns me more, and if I were a WH advisor with any knowledge of, or interest in, anything beyond where to find the best booze, blow, and blowjobs in or around Capitol Hill, I would be laser-focused on talking him down from a full-on crackdown -- at least until he gets his political legs under him for his second term.

Who, Trump?

This IS his second term.

Meanwhile... inflation is here. It's kind of a big deal.

It's transitory.

And if you have to pay ten cents more for your bacon egg and cheese from McDonald's so that farm workers can have a living wage, tough. Get over it.

As long as The Orange Shit Gibbon's tariffs are in place, it won't be transitory. Get over that. And stick to words you actually undertand.

Inflation is transitory. Understand that. It always has been.

Sure Biden kept Trump's tariffs, and that made inflation under his administration much worse than it would have been, but that doesn't change the transitory nature of inflation. How many experts and presidents telling you inflation is transitory would it take to change your mind? Does any expert say it isn't transitory, or are you making this up?

Just saying it makes more sense to wait until he makes a mistake and call him out on it than to assume he's going to do something stupid.
And technically you did use the phrase "resident genius in the whitehouse". I did add the word "ironically" afterwards in my post.

I wasn't commenting on how many farm workers we would have to lose, to cause a problem. I was just saying, when you are in the habit of seeing negativity in something that hasn't even happened yet, it makes it much more difficult to see the positive side of anything. When your mentality is "everything Trump does is going to be a disaster" and he does something that has 10% negative effects, you're more likely to focus on the 10% negative than on the 90% good it does.
And please don't comment on whether or not Trump has done anything with 90% good effects. I'm just saying philosophically, you should try to give yourself a chance to see the good side of things...

Fair enough, but if you had been around here longer you would know I would never consider Trump any kind of genius. I guess sarcasm can be hard to seen if you don't know the poster.

There is NO good side of Trump. He is a reprehensible morally corrupt vindictive hateful person. Add to that he is incompetent in his position as president.

Did our resident genius in the Whitehouse as of tomorrow even think of this when he's vowed to deport all undocumented people? Damn will we be able to by chickens and eggs even if we can afford them? How about other farm products?

73% of US farm labor are migrants. The USDA estimates that half are undocumented. Given the significance, why is this overlooked by conservative rural America?

Democrats are very protective about keeping their impoverished labor force in place. Isn't this the same argument they made in civil war days "If you free the slaves, who will pick the cotton?"

Nope. Ship them all out. I want you to.

Do it.

As long as those tariffs are in place, inflation with not be transitory. Cause and effect. Pull the tariffs and watch it wane.

Meanwhile... inflation is here. It's kind of a big deal.

Nope, inflation is not here, despite how badly you want it to be.

Inflation is holding steady at 2.95%

Yeah, but Biden didn't bother to pull the tariffs, did he? He kept them and added new ones.

But inflation is transitory. It'll be ok.

How many experts and presidents need to tell you inflation is transitory before you believe that you are wrong?

Is there any expert that says inflation isn't transitory, or did you just make that up to argue?
