Nike Apologizes For Unofficial Name Of 'Black And Tan' Sneaker | Fox News
havent been on here all week so not sure if this has already been posted but I enjoyed this. St Paddys day in the USA, fun times. Although this isn't as bad as the kid I saw out on paddys day last year wearing all orange, when I asked him why he replied " oh because Irish people have orange hair, why is orange wrong?"
I've never heard of this "offensive phrase" before now (assuming I looked up the right thing), and I still don't understand what the problem is...
What, you can't call something what it looks like?
I mean...the shoes ARE black and tan...
/sigh
Why is there a need to appoligize with simply stating colors of the shoe? I don't see the serious issue. Can someone help me understand, or are people flinching because they think, that maybe, someone, somewhere, somehow was offended.
I can understand the relation to the unintentional offense, however, this is not the first time a product has had a stupid name.
not unintentional it was just ignorance which is not uncommen regarding Irish history and traditions in the US.
"Ben & Jerry’s, often lauded for its social awareness, released a “Black and Tan” ice cream in 2006, also unfamiliar with the name’s implications." To think that advertising people would know better, but, I am not going to let these knuckleheads take up my time with their stupidity. I am sending Nike and Ben and Jerry a tube o' the good stuff to show my appreciation for their ignorance.
Although this isn't as bad as the kid I saw out on paddys day last year wearing all orange, when I asked him why he replied " oh because Irish people have orange hair, why is orange wrong?"

Well....Fox are completely clueless about anything that goes on outside of their borders as usual, given that they appear to confuse the War of Independence (in which the black and tans fought before Northern Ireland existed) with the troubles. Joke of a channel.
