So is Ben going to play?

I don't know - I've only heard that he's back on the field practicing lightly. If I was making the decision, I'd hold him out of the Baltimore game, in Baltimore. The Ravens always play hard, tough football, and they'd like nothing better than to kill the Steeler's season by knocking Ben out long term. Steelers with Jones having 2 weeks to prepare the offense and for the Ravens is good enough to get a win so I'd rest him one more week. I'd save him for the Cowboys game at home the following week - that will be a fun matchup.

Since this is the half way point (give or take) I will give my mid season predictions for teams who are in and who are out.

AFC East: Patriots: lock
Bills:possible wildcard
Dolphins and Jets: out

AFC West: Raiders, Broncos, Chiefs all have a shot with the loser getting the wild card, this weekend game b/w the Raiders and Broncos could be the deciding factor.
Chargers: out

AFC North:Steelers, depends on their QB situation but they are still the team to beat.
Ravens and Bengals: out
Browns: almost guaranteed the top draft pick and could very likely not win a game.

AFC South: Texans in: but Strangely the Titans are still in the hunt. Second place team in this division will not make the playoffs.
Colts and Jags: out.

NFC East: Cowboys: in
Out of the rest of this division, the Giants, Eagles and Redskins the top one of these three will most likely get the wildcard.

NFC West: Seattle: in
Cardinals: possible in which I mean an outside shot at a wildcard. Depends the loser of the NFC North and their record.
Rams and 49ers: out

NFC North: Vikings and Packers will battle to the end but I will pick the Vikings with the Packers with a possible wildcard depending on the Cardinals fate.
Lions and Bears: out

NFC South: Falcons: in
Buccaneers, Saints and Panthers: out

Your thoughts.....

Can't really quibble with much of what you've posted since I haven't reviewed the remaining schedules for each of the contending teams, but I think it's pretty safe that the Patriots will win their division - yawn - again. The Steelers are the best team in the AFC North, but if the injury bug gets them again, they'll be a very weak division winner - Cincinnati looks lost and the Ravens have lost 4 in a row and should be bottom feeders, but if they beat the Steelers this weekend, they're in first. The AFC South is awful, and I wouldn't be gifting the division to Houston just yet - they are playing like a team going 8-8 with all wins at home and all losses on the road. It's still possible, although unlikely, that the Jags could find a way to make their pre-season prediction of vast improvement come true. The best division in the AFC is by far the West - I see three teams from the West in the playoffs, and I'm not ready to toss San Diego just yet.

As for the NFC, Dallas and Seattle look solid but if Dallas has a QB controversy in coming weeks, that could unsettle them and Seattle is really beat up and having trouble scoring - they need to get healthy fast before Arizona wakes up. I'm not sold on Atlanta just yet but they could and should hang on - don't underestimate Tampa hanging around until late in the year. I was really sold on Minnesota until Bradford got back to Philly and he turned back into a toad. Green Bay looks like they could retake command there. The wildcards in the NFC are a crap shoot at this point - too many teams with a chance.

Personally, I think Brady is a bit overrated. A great QB - sure. But I highly doubt he would have been as great as he has been for as long as he has been without Bill Belichick as a head coach.

Belichick has proven time and again how he gets the most out of many average-decent players.

Stick Brady on an solid-average team for his entire career and I really don't think we would be talking about him remotely as often - or maybe even talking about him for the Hall of Fame.

Perhaps you are correct. Max Kellerman made the point recently the Patriots are like the Harvard of the NFL. If you take two intelligent high school students, and one goes to Harvard for 4 years, and the other goes to a community college, obviously the student that went to Harvard will have a significant leg up.

Brady was drafted by the Harvard of the NFL, graduated, did 4 years undergrad, did 4 years as a grad student, basically he has absorbed so much knowledge and information he could take what he learned and would have success on any other team.

Brady is not an average player. Too put up the stats that he has, you have to be great.

-edit- Just realized I put the highlights at the wrong spot for the Denver/Oakland game. If such a change isn't allowed prior to game time, then feel free to count that one as a loss regardless.

Not sure why but I wasn't listed in the overall this week. I got 9 correct and old score was 63 so I should be at 72. :)

Good luck everyone.

Tim-

Democrats were practice counting ballots and eliminating voters they don't like.

I think I speak for everyone here when I say that I appreciate the humor, but please don't muck up the one thread on this forum that is free of partisan BS. I beg of you CJ. ;)

WEEK 9
Thursday, November 03, 2016
Atlanta Falcons at Tampa Bay Buccaneers : Yeah, I know I'm being crazy betting against the Jones and Ryan show. It's just a hunch mixed in with a little WTF.

Sunday, November 06, 2016
Pittsburgh Steelers at Baltimore Ravens : Ravens suck, but Pitt is pretty overrated.
Dallas Cowboys at Cleveland Browns: I think this game might be closer than it looks on paper.
Jacksonville Jaguars at Kansas City Chiefs : NO brainer
New York Jets at Miami Dolphins
Detroit Lions at Minnesota Vikings : The Purple Lion eaters will be back on track.
Philadelphia Eagles at New York Giants : Thinking with my heart here. But the Midgets are not that good.
Carolina Panthers at Los Angeles Rams
New Orleans Saints at San Francisco 49ers : Brees is going to torch San Fran. And you thought the California fires were done with for the year, silly fools.
Indianapolis Colts at Green Bay Packers : I think the Pack are turning it around.
Tennessee Titans at San Diego Chargers
Denver Broncos at Oakland Raiders : Slow n' steady Denver will control this one.

Ah, my mistake. I must have accidentally deleted you when I was arranging the final count. It will be rectified.

Well said. From now on anyone who dares mention politics in this thread will get a game deducted from their totals. This is for trash talking in the NFL only. ;)
