And, as Trump commonly does on Truth Social, Newsom’s been ending some posts with “THANK YOU FOR YOUR ATTENTION TO THIS MATTER!”"

Newsom’s social media posts have been exploding in popularity. In part because Democrats appear to be excited about Newsom’s willingness to be a pugilist online — particularly as he’s taking extraordinary steps to fight back against Texas’ outrageous gerrymandering scheme. But also because some of the posts are genuinely entertaining and surprising, especially coming from a Democrat who typically presents as exceedingly clean-cut and careful.

Fox News host, Trace Gallagher, tried to slam Newsom: “I don’t know what he’s trying to do, but it comes across as childish and — you are the governor of the biggest state in the union — what are you doing?!” But there’s no way for right-wingers to make such arguments without implying that the president of the United States’ posts are unserious and foolish."

Bingo. If they criticize Newsom they are criticizing Donald.

What people miss about Newsom’s tweets is this: when Trump tweets, MAGA idiots and Republicans nod along as if every word is the gospel truth that came directly from Jesus! However, when Newsom posts something in a similar style, those same MAGA idiots and Republicans gasp in outrage, wondering how a governor could stoop so low or behave so childishly, blah blah blah!. The double standard is clear—behavior that is celebrated when it comes from Trump is condemned when echoed by Newsom.

At this point, any sense of shame about hypocrisy in the MAGA world has long since vanished. However, I hope one day, the cognitive dissonance may become too much, and you’ll hear a million tiny “pops” as MAGA gray matter explodes under the pressure of contradiction.

That day will become THE new American Independence Day, where stupidity/ignorance and bigotry were defeated!

Independence from the Great Trump Fascism Scare of the 2020's, which is what this era is destined to be known as in future historical accounts.
 
I submit that Gavin Newsom's current media campaign tool of mocking Trump is the real world political equivalent of playing Slim Whitman music in the presence of Martians, and that he needs to escalate it to saturation level ASAP.

I had that before he became president the second time and I still have it. But now I allow myself this second feeling, because it´s not only about him, it´s about all of us.

I have sympathy for that view, which I think is the dominant one. I was just suggesting an alternative so it's not the only option.

If he were in distress and needed help, I would come to his aide. I doubt he would be so kind but that is who I am and what he is.

Trump is personally stressing about it. If all it does is shorten his life, it will be worth it. Newsom knows exactly what he's doing.
