Above the law.
Unless marshall's go to his home and arrest him, this is all window dressing.
I think that my be what it takes.
Even then, he’ll howl that he’s a victim, and his knuckledraggers will all play victim with him.
They would take up arms to protect him from American laws.
Trump should simply say the documents which the AG seeks cannot be found.
Which he did:
Trump also said that subject to his objections ’he would not produce any documents” responsive to the subpoena” because his lawyer said that none of the documents could be found, the filing said. (from the CNBC article)
Trump did not state that he "forgot what he did with them". You made that part up.He took them all home and then conveniently forgot what he did with them.
Sure!!!!! I doubt that even trump nation actually believes that one!
Contempt means 'fines. in this case. Also, it means that the refusal can be held against him, since it is a civil case.Above the law.

Seriously? You ignore the double standard?Contempt means 'fines. in this case. Also, it means that the refusal can be held against him, since it is a civil case.

People misplace documents all the time. How was Trump supposed to know which documents the N.Y.A.G. would demand he produce?
Because there is a difference between a criminal investigation, and being suied in the civil court. I am surprised you don't realize it. One standard is for civil cases, the other is for criminal l cases.Seriously? You ignore the double standard?
He also noted (according to the article) that if the documents existed, they would be maintained by the Trump Organization. Not having seen the actual response, it would make sense that the "Trump Organization" (the company) would be custodian of records on New York properties. Trump wouldn't personally maintain the records on hundreds of properties. This may be getting into technicalities, but generally Subpoenas have to be specific.Plausible deniability isn't going to work here. Trump is obliged to produce and maintain these documents.
If they don't exist or go missing that reflects poorly upon him, as well it should.
Whether a contempt charge is the right consequence is up to the judge. It's the court's orders he's disregarding.

He certainly is contemptible.
More here. Let's see how this goes.
- New York Attorney General Letitia James asked a judge to hold former President Donald Trump in contempt of court for refusing to comply with an order to turn over documents for her investigation of his company.
- James also asked the judge to fine Trump $10,000 for every day he fails to surrender those documents.
- The AG’s office says in a court filing that Trump is in violation of a court order to give her investigators the documents by March 31.
- James is investigating the Trump Organization in connection with how that company reported the values of various real estate assets.

WOW!Trump is a traitor and anyone who violently defends him against a righteous exercise of justice deserves what they get. I'd love to see these white separatists and fascist militants step up to get stomped by the military.
The one positive thing is that these fascists are too dumb to keep their traitorous opinions to themselves. They won't be hard to identify.
Yep. That's a very serious problem. If he is arrested, a militia of the duped will go from potential to active, and the question then becomes how many. We saw what happened when he clearly and decisively lost an election. They would take up arms to protect him from American laws.
They should throw his ass in jail for contemptHe certainly is contemptible.

Sounds like you are not expressing yourself in a manner that can be read properly. You don't even know what I am taking about.
Peace
Can you pay a $10,000 a day fine from contributions? Will it ever be paid at all?Sounds like you are not expressing yourself in a manner that can be read properly.
But, there is no double standard.
