FT.com / Asia-Pacific - N Korea responds to UN with nuclear threats
UN Security Council imposes New sanctions on N.Korea.
Resolution 1874 provides a strong and united international response to North Korea. In relation to this, N. Korea responded to UN sanctions by claiming its program to develop nuclear weapons-grade enriched uranium had reached an experimental stage.
I went with the sanctions because to directly attack NK is going to create two problems. One, the Chinese will immediately condemn the U.S. and throw support behind DPRK. Two, NK will immediately attack South Korea and we will be entrenched in another war.
China is watching over NK and whether we like it or not, we are not ready for war with China.
We should nip the problem in the bud. **** it, and attack the bastards with everything we have in place. 24 hour prep. No way they will be ready. Kill there top leaders with B-2's and **** up their Air Force with our Raptors in Kadena, Japan.
Just curious, but do you know what type of casualities South Korea would face with an attack like that?
In all seriousness, if we could take out most N Korean missle sites before they launch them, then I may support an attack on North Korea. I just don't have much info on our predictions about how effective an invasion would be.
We could absolutely kill NK within days. This ain't no Saddam Huissein or "nation-building" mission we are on like in Iraq. We could **** that country into a tiny ****load of pieces within DAYS, or even less. Just bomb Pyongyang with everyhting we got. Destroy their entire military. They have the largest military in the world, if we destroy it all, they will have NOTHING. **** em **** **** GODDAMNIT **** EM UP! NOOOOOWW!!!!!!
Not necessarily. China has also repeatedly said that it condemns their communist friend's activity. As much as China might want to stick with N. Korea, economically they can't. We buy all their stuff, and their economy isn't self-sustaining yet. Once it is, then they would be more likely to go against us. And China, along with Russia has moved a ton of Armor to their border with N. Korea, and they have said they want to be ready for anything the N. Koreans do. While they might condemn us for wiping out the Command and Control of North Korea, they might just sweep in, and take over the N. Korean land for themselves. China does not want an open world war on their doorstep, because the last time that happened, the countries along the Frontlines ( Britain, France, Germany, Russia) had immense destruction of their country. No, they won't want us to start carpet bombing their factories, and cities.
And if our first-strike is good enough, the North Korean's might just be to confused to launch an attack against us for say a week or 2. In which time, we can get ready for ourselves. If we maintain Strategic Surprise.
Its kinda pointless though. As Thomas Friedman said, "No two countries that both had McDonald's had fought a war against each other since each got its McDonald's".
Friedman
They have McDonalds in North Korea? Cool....they are finally making progress. If they don't however, we acn beat the crap outta 'em.
If they did, they would never want to go to war with any other country that had one.
Maybe this can be a solution in the middle east:mrgreen:
So what if we owe china a ton of money, how would going to war with us enable them to collect? If they don't side with us on NK issues, we just ban all chinese goods from the USA....
If you do, every retailer in the nation would go bankrupt, and in this economic climate that could be catestrophic.
Locally grown food will still be available.....
Fuel will still be available...
if selling plastic crap from china is your chosen career path, so be it....
Yeah, the North Koreans can shell the crap out of Seoul 10 minutes into the fight, plus chemical weapons, but that is if they manage to coordinate themselves. If we can take out their Command and Control chain, then they will be temporarily blinded. Our B-2's can massacre any SAM Sites we find, and then clear the way for F-117's and B-52's. Kill all their launch sites ( the B-2 and B-52 each can take out 20 targets, each plane) and force them to surrender. Of cours, this is if we maintain Strategic Surprise.
So it looks like people here actually want to enter a third war?
That's wrong.

I just want the US to **** North Korea in the ****hole! Is that so wrong?
