I wonder if the mass deportation claims are just bluster

I predict that Trump will just grab and highlight those who’ve committed the worst crimes, but won’t start rounding up millions. And with illegals leaving, who’s he gonna get to build the camps to hold them while they await deportation hearings?

A friend is involved in distributing “know your rights” cards or similar info. I assume that if enough people contest their deportation, if suits are filed, the system will break down. Be interesting to see how much resistance there is in some communities, and I worry that people will be injured or worse, and lots of legal or citizen folk will be deported as happened during “Operation Wetback” decades ago. And of course I assume that while Trump targets Juan who jumped the border fleeing drug gangs in Honduras, he’ll largely ignore Bjorn the barista from Norway who overstayed his visa years ago. 1-How many American citizens are you okay with deporting? For me, the answer is clearly zero.
2-How much are you willing to spend to do it? I understand that it will cost about $86 B to set it up, and I'm going to guess somewhere around $10 M for each American citizen deported. I have no idea what the ongoing costs will be (and I don't think the incoming administration does either).

The mass deportation is a fiasco. It's animal spirits and only.

Homan does not have the resources of ICE personnel, facilities, logistics, money, means of detention and means of transporting the targeted population in any number.

The mass deportation is immobile and inert.

The project was always dependent on the military and its massive logistical and manpower capabilities but the military has said a firm and resolute, absolute no, that this is not something the USA armed forces do. Trump and Homan have had to accept this and they do recognize it however reluctantly. Trump knows he can't prevail in a high profile and high stakes confrontation and showdown between himself and the military.

How do you deport an undocumented immigrant when you don't know where they came from? No country is going to take them in without proof that they came from that country.
