This is what we are seeing from democrats, abuse of power, ignoring the laws of the land, striping the rights of the Constitution away because they don't like them.A few days ago, NM Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham issued an order to suspend the Second Amendment and ban possession of firearms in some cities, which violates New Mexico's Bill of Rights with regards to open carry, and violates the 2nd Amendment:
Gov Grisham said
"Effective IMMEDIATELY - No person other than law enforcement officer or licensed security officer shall possess a firearm - either openly or concealed."
This flagrantly violates both NM State and Federal statutes regarding the Right of the People to keep and bear arms.
(There are many threads on this subject, but this thread is specifically about the rationale and protocols for impeachment. It is presumed that Governor Grisham must have considered this implication before issuing the unlawful dictate. Please let's keep the discussion about the impeachment - not about the need for gun control - the other threads (in the Gun Control Sub-forum) discuss the need for gun control.)
NM State representatives Stefani Lord and John Block are calling for the impeachment of Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham.
"I am calling on counsel to begin the impeachment process against Governor Grisham. This is an abhorrent attempt at imposing a radical, progressive agenda on an unwilling populace. Rather than addressing crime at its core, Governor Grisham is restricting the rights of law-abiding gun owners,” said Rep. Lord.
"We need to impeach [the Governor] and that's something that I don't take lightly. But unfortunately, we need to do it because if we don't start here, it's going to seep through the entire nation. We're going to have governors all across the country think that they can just throw the Constitution in a paper shredder and see it go." - Rep. John Block
Bernalillo County Sheriff, John Allen, said:
“This order will not do anything to curb gun violence other than punish law-abiding citizens from their constitutional right to self-defense . . . . I am wary of placing my deputies in positions that could lead to civil liability conflicts, as well as the potential risks posed by prohibiting law-abiding citizens from their constitutional right to self-defense.”
To which, Governor Grisham stupidly responded:
“I don’t need a lecture on constitutionality from Sheriff Allen: what I need is action."
The rationale behind impeachment is that Governor Grisham flagrantly violated her solemn oath to uphold and protect the Constitution of New Mexico and the United States. Impeachment is the legal and Constitutional process to unseat a rogue governor.

IMO the governor should be expeditiously impeached and removed. It would send a good message to governors of other states about violating the Constitutional Rights of their citizens.
Offhand, do you have any idea of how many law abiding citizens with legally purchased firearms have been involved in a mass shooting? I'm pretty sure there have been at least a few. I know nothing about his except what I'm reading here and I love it. Many things republican lawmakers pass in their state they know are unconstitutional but they do it and make the democrats try to undo it. No. It's what we're seeing from HER!This is what we are seeing from democrats, ....
We're only discussing the constitutional aspect of Gov. Grisham's order, and the path forward to her Impeachment.Offhand, do you have any idea of how many law abiding citizens with legally purchased firearms have been involved in a mass shooting?

Like the AL governor? Did Alabama's governor deny Constitutional Rights to the citizens of Alabama?Like the AL governor? . . .
Yes, voting rights.Did Alabama's governor deny Constitutional Rights to the citizens of Alabama?
Alabama Governor Bentley faced impeachment because he used State money to cover up an affair he had with an aide.Yes, voting rights.
FALSE. I did NOT make it up. It's a documented FACT. You're just claiming that its BS because you don't have an argument....This is BS.
Complete misrepresentation of the article.
That quote does NOT appear in the OP article or anywhere else according to Google. Apparently you made it up.
FALSE. I did NOT make it up. It's a documented FACT. You're just claiming that its BS because you don't have an argument.
Here is a link to the Governor's statement, which I correctly quoted:
https://apnews.com/article/albuquer...rry-firearms-3fbe91683934057fe3036ccf187a7f1c
Anyways, you have no argument, and your flawed position is based on misinformation and radical leftist views.
Misrepresentation is not uncommon among the hair-on-fire “O.M.G. - THEY’RE COMING TO TAKE OUR GUNS AWAY!” crowd.1. Your quote did not come from the link you posted. Normally if you quote something you should be posting the link to the quote. (In fact, I am sure you did not get it from AP article you later found since what you quoted does not match precisely what it says. I am guessing you did not us to know your real source.)
2. Your OP still misrepresents what she did. Despite that quote she did NOT ban gun possession. Only carry in public. And only for 30 days on an emergency basis. And only in 2 counties with special problems. You misrepresented all this in your OP.
Don't lecture me, boy. You screwed up by claiming BS on something that wasn't BS.1. Your quote did not come from the link you posted. Normally if you quote something you should be posting the link to the quote.
The sheer ignorance in this statement is ASTOUNDING. Of COURSE she banned gun possession. She banned carrying them in public. Does the governor have the power and authority to make dictates which violate the U.S. Constitution? Nope.(In fact, I am sure you did not get it from AP article you later found since what you quoted does not match precisely what it says. I am guessing you did not us to know your real source.)

Governor Lujan Grisham is testing the waters. She is trying to establish a slippery slope to gun bans in New Mexico. She knows that if she gets away with this "temporary" gun ban, it will give other states the green light to do the same. And then the "temporary" bans will eventually become permanent gun bans. And only for 30 days on an emergency basis. And only in 2 counties with special problems. You misrepresented all this in your OP.
And yet our own Supreme Court has upheld both carry and possession restrictions many times throughout our history. I'll go out on a limb and side with their historic interpretations of the Constitution over your own. In fact, interpreting the Constitution is their job - not your. The sheer ignorance in this statement is ASTOUNDING. Of COURSE she banned gun possession. She banned carrying them in public. Does the governor have the power and authority to make dictates which violate the U.S. Constitution? Nope.
In fact, NOBODY DOES.
The MASSIVE elephant in the room that all you gun grabbers ignore is that the U.S. Constitution explicitly states that "the Right to keep and bear Arms shall not be infringed."
You've perfectly demonstrated the ignorance of the left with this question.BTW, since we're cherry picking the 2nd today, what "militia" do you belong to?
You have no idea what the term "well regulated" even means (in context of the 2A).I'm sure it must be "well regulated" .... right?
Reread my post #21 starting with, "And yet ... "You've perfectly demonstrated the ignorance of the left with this question.
The premise of your question is false, and based on a PROFOUND misunderstanding of the 2 clauses in the Second Amendment.
That was the old, defective Supreme Court. The New, Improved SCOTUS is reversing unconstitutional gun bans of the past.Reread my post #21 starting with, "And yet ... "
Let me know when you get it.
Or not if you never do.
