Speaker Johnson in this case, still cant manage to pass regular appropriations, so rams through another trillion dollar omnibus with democrats, which most Republicans voted against.
How much of these liberal talking points are actually necessary given our 35 trillion dollar debt and record deficit? And really we cant afford the entire bill because all the revenue went to social spending.

Among other things, the $1.2 trillion funding package:
Lowers child care costs for families and strengthens Head Start with a new $1 billion investment to help families in every zip code afford child care and help ensure Head Start can continue serving hundreds of thousands of kids each year.
Protects workers’ rights and helps ensure they get the paychecks they have earned by protecting funding for essential worker protection agencies and the National Labor Relations Board.
Invests in students at every stage of their education and sustains essential investments in our nation’s public schools by delivering resources for our public K-12 schools, Pell Grants, and more—and rejecting devastating cuts that would have forced teachers out of our nation’s K-12 classrooms.
Keeps our country safe and supports our servicemembers and military families with essential investments in our national defense and important additional support for those who serve our country in uniform.
Builds on our historic economic recovery and supports small businesses.
Supports people’s health, strengthens the health care workforce, and guards against public health threats, rejecting dangerous cuts and sustaining all manner of investments in patients’ health.
Propels cutting-edge biomedical research to discover and create new treatments and cures that save lives and give people more time with their loved ones.
Invests in mental health care and research and strengthens the 988 lifeline—sustaining and building upon key investments made in recent years.
Protects consumers and holds fraudsters and rich tax cheats accountable to help even the playing field and keep growing our economy from the middle out.
Combats the flow of fentanyl, strengthens our detection and enforcement capabilities, and invests in substance use disorder treatment and prevention to address the opioid crisis that continues to devastate communities.
Delivers critical resources to help meet operational needs at our southern border.
Maintains America’s global leadership and upholds our commitments to our allies and partners to promote our own national security and strengthen our competitiveness.
Supports our Afghan allies by authorizing an additional 12,000 Special Immigrant Visas (SIVs) for Afghans who assisted the U.S. government during the war in Afghanistan.
Increases base funding for humanitarian assistance to support the United States’ efforts to provide emergency food, shelter, water, and basic services to populations caught in conflict and crises across the globe.

The $1.2 Trillion spending plan is full of pork and earmarks. Speaker Johnson should have summarily opposed it.

Any competent lawmaker would have. There are a few good parts, but most of the spending package is needless crap.

Speaker Johnson needs to be replaced with someone more competent.

I'm actually beginning to like this little Jesus freak.

He seems to be getting things done anyway. And Democrats aren't complaining. He may come away with a record achievement.

Who in the Republican caucus fits that bill and can get a majority of House to vote for him/her?

MTG is already making moves to have him removed. Don't ya just LOVE the shit show on the Right.
Even MORE entertaining is the quick response by Righties calling for Johnson's head, because BY GOLLY, it has money for the border and Trump told them NO DEAL BECAUSE I NEED SOMETHING TO RUN ON.
So, expect lots and lots of whining on this topic from the usual suspects.

Right now the republican are not going to manage to get a speaker who can weather the storm. A one vote motion to remove the speaker is all it takes to get the ball rolling. McCarthy should never have agreed to that standard. Now it's a problem again. MTG, should be nominated to be Speaker and voted into the office. If she refuses then she needs to shut up. If she accepts, lets see if she can get the votes? If not maybe she will realize how difficult the process has become.

This is why I love living next door to the greatest show on earth.

for all my life it has been two steps forward, two steps back and arguing. They are still arguing about the same things from when I as a child, a toddler.

Nothing just happens. It has to be ramped into a national emergency.

In this case, there is no surprise value in the news that MAGA wants the most successful house leader in decades fired for cause.

And what's NOT being said....if those migrants don't make it across the border, fruit in the US and Canada is going to be really ****ing expensive this summer. The US needs these people rather desperately.

There is an easy fix:
Hakeem Jeffries.

He will be. Meet the new speaker!

What makes you think Hakeem Jeffries can get the votes. He will have to have republican votes for a majority. Granted he only needs a few but that may be a very high bar to cross.
I would hope republicans see that as a huge mistake and don't vote for the ultra leftist. Of course you never know how stupid some can be.

Some?

Easy fix? That would "fix" nothing. It would open the door for a possibility to some of the worse legislation we have ever witnessed. Danger to democracy, a democrats controlled House and Senate and White House.

Well,

You're arguing with the way he's getting things done where I am arguing that he's actually getting things done!

The is the US congress we're talking about. Getting anything done is a miracle.

How dare the government make our lives better!

Thankfully, there is practically ZERO chance that this man will be the new House Speaker (in the next 8 months, anyways).

How dare the government make our lives better!
Exactly. The government's job is to make our lives better by protecting our liberty and freedom - it should NOT be government's job to aid us or restrain us in our pursuits.

"The policy of the American government is to leave their citizens free, neither restraining nor aiding them in their pursuits." - Thomas Jefferson

"I am convinced that there are more threats to American liberty within the 10 mile radius of my office on Capitol Hill than there are on the rest of the globe." -- Ron Paul

What's the distinction between a "leftist" and an "ultra-leftist"?

There are 14 elected R's serving in Congressional Districts that were won in 2020 by President Biden.

On 3.26.24 the elected R majority will fall to 218-213. You don't think that three of those 14 may want to retain their position next term? Who will blink first, them or the lunatic fringe? We'll see.

Ooooh, the drama!
It's kind of a childish attitude- the most important place in the world is where I am, the most important time in history is right now!
Know what happened when the Republicans controlled the House, the Senate and the White House? Nothing! Sweet ****-all! The Democrats at least know how to govern.

all the revenue went to social spending.
A quick scan of the list YOU provide shows that is false.

One of the entries from that list that can be considered "social spending" is:

"Lowers child care costs for families and strengthens Head Start with a new $1 billion investment to help families in every zip code afford child care and help ensure Head Start can continue serving hundreds of thousands of kids each year."

Obviously that would include families in rural areas as well as urban. This would allow all women who might desire it to find a career other than "housewife," or otherwise join the workforce to the benefit of the country as a whole. I would be interested why you seem to think this is not worthy of the country's investment.
