Had Biden been sharp and lucid, I would not care if he was going to be wheelchair bound. As long as his brain was OK.

Well, John Meacham always said Biden could become like FDR.
I’m expecting to hear news reports that Biden wore Depends in the Oval Office.

Biden certainly thought of himself as a modern-day FDR, but I don't know that anyone else did.

If Biden had used a wheelchair and Trump or some other Republican had called him “President Hot Wheels,” just imagine the nuclear explosion that would have emanated from Democrats.

Before the election I thought Biden should have embraced his age and acted the wise old man. A fancy walking stick would have been awesome. He could have waved it menacingly at Trump during the debate. That would have been great.

The proprietor, Sam, is a true artisan and turns all his canes by hand. Just about any wood you’d desire.

I have a couple of them. A classy ebony number and an ipe (hardest wood there is), but my favorite is cocobolo (sentimental reason, our old police nightsticks were made of cocobolo wood).

They are handsome and perfectly balanced and on top of that, if you’ve had a bit of training, they will come in very handy if anyone thinks the nice, old, person with the cane is an easy mark for a mugging.

I completely agree.

The US populace is most definitely ableist and also largely uninformed and ignorant.

Our current situation reflects that.


(And I’d be in favor of maximum ages for ALL political offices and appointments, for the record.)

I agree. But what is the age? 75? 80? I think I might be leaning toward 78, for no real reason other than it is about halfway between those.
