Yes, and these were all done before DNA was universally used. Today's law enforcement now uses DNA every time it's available. Once these 300 cases out of thousands of heinous criminal cases, are disposed of, there will no longer be any doubt as to the guilt of these people!
Change the law, install the DP at every state and not just for murder.......I advocate it be used for serial rapists and drug dealers as well!
Housing people for life is a poor second choice!
This great news, lets hope others follow suit.
Except that it's far far cheaper, it provides all the safety and security to society that the DP does without having the DP. I'm not going to waste millions of dollars trying to kill some kid who was selling pot. That's completely irrational.
You bet Drug Dealers too! They ruin lives and kill people far more than the avg. killer!DNA evidence for murder trials has been in use since the mid 80's, and if you follow the link I gave you a hell of a lot of those people were convicted after that time.
Drug dealers too, huh? Okay.
What does a complete disregard for the execution of innocent people make you?
No, but some people want to.Your example is as irrational as it gets! No one executes any kids and certainly not for selling pot....GET REAL!
You bet Drug Dealers too! They ruin lives and kill people far more than the avg. killer!
So let's change the law, and do away with the red tape and streamline the system. I want to see the Easy Button to a Firing Squad!
You want to execute pharmacists selling Oxy, and liquor store owners!!! That seems a bit harsh.
And DNA testing isn't actually a test that shows guilt or innocence. It's useful in many cases, but using DNA cannot remotely guarantee a correct verdict. And the biggest problem, IMO, with the death penalty is it's arbitrarily applied, and a death penalty depends heavily on who the defendant is, who the victim was (e.g. was the victim a nice looking middle class white female, or a street person, or a young black man with a criminal record), how much money he or she has, the quality of his legal team, the judge, the particular members of the jury, and more.
You bet Drug Dealers too! They ruin lives and kill people far more than the avg. killer!
So, let me repeat this for you..................far fewer cases now and in the future, will have innocent people going to jail. And when it's a slam dunk.....why even bother with DNA! Examples, (1)when a person walks up to a patrol unit and executes the cops in that car in front of witnesses....................we don't need DNA!
(2)There was more than sufficient evidence to convict and execute Tim McVeigh w/o DNA.
No, but some people want to.
This will result in more innocent people being executed.
Are you a bit slow?
No WHERE on this forum have I ever shown disregard for any innocent people!
Now stop acting all emotional and talk sense!
Wrong on BOTH counts!
How old are you anyway? You talk like some kid in his Mom's basement!
Your first sentence.......Another so called edjeeecated person......using silly, silly examples!
The unprecedented rise in overdose deaths in the U.S. parallels a 300 percent increase since 1999 in the sale of powerful painkillers such as Vicodin and OxyContin. These drugs were involved in 14,800 overdose deaths in 2008, more than cocaine and heroin combined (2).
The misuse and abuse of prescription painkillers was responsible for more than 475,000 emergency department visits in 2009, a number that nearly doubled in just five years (3).
Excessive alcohol use led to approximately 88,000 deaths and 2.5 million years of potential life lost (YPLL) each year in the United States from 2006 – 2010, shortening the lives of those who died by an average of 30 years.1,2 Further, excessive drinking was responsible for 1 in 10 deaths among working-age adults aged 20-64 years. The economic costs of excessive alcohol consumption in 2006 were estimated at $223.5 billion, or $1.90 a drink.3
Second part, I mostly agree. But, in most cases the preponderance of evidence is so great............................that the guilt of the person is a no brainer.
Tim McVeigh and Terry McNichol are prime examples of that.....the Boston Bombers are as well. Too bad they didn't shoot the punk ass kid on the scene!
I have arrested, filed reports and testified in court, hundreds of times. NONE of my cases were ever overturned or dismissed!
But the state killing people is? May I remind you that our justice system if filled with errors, and the recent revelations that the FBI essentially intentionally falsified evidence to retain convictions just sheds light on our justice system problems, and you think it wise that the state has the power to execute individuals?
Life-in-prison inmates with no chance of parole actually live happy lives. Knowing they'll never get out of prison, they adapt. Their world becomes the prison, and they find their own meaning in it, without the stress and bother that comes with hope of getting out.
Death penalty inmates are quite the opposite. They have to eat and sleep their coming fate on a daily basis, and the mental anguish and fears that accompany it. It's a life of hell before death.
This is a dark day for past and future victims of Nebraska.
Life-in-prison inmates with no chance of parole actually live happy lives.
Okay, then you just choose to operate under the delusion that innocent aren't sent to death row, even though I've given you evidence that people have been wrongly convicted even when DNA evidence was used.
Jumps right into a personal attack. Interesting. No, clearly no emotion coming from this guy.
You said you wanted to execute drug dealers. Have you changed your mind?
Making it easier to execute someone makes it easier to execute an innocent person.

Never said any such thing. Your conclusions on my rhetoric, are not based on evidence....you, like most libs, make it up as you go.
Noooo...I didn't jump right in....I let them make fools of themselves first! Nope...no emotion...just logic. Try it sometime.
Drug Dealers? Of course not. They are as dangerous as anyone.......and have taken the lives of many....just by their disregard of human life for the greed they possess.
Sorry folks if some of you are drug dealers .......or have favorite drug dealers who supply your poison! I've been busting drug dealers since 1970....and love every minute of it! Nothing has given me more satisfaction to to take down drug dealers!
Out of all the thousands of heinous monsters out there.....very few are truly innocent!
You do seem pretty angry.
But if what you say is true, you are a literal sociopath and should seek help.
Never said any such thing. Your conclusions on my rhetoric, are not based on evidence....you, like most libs, make it up as you go.

There are many other inmates in state and federal prisons that are only there for a short time and for much lesser felonies........often times, those people are raped or murdered by the heinous animals that you bleeding hearts want to save! And many guards are assaulted and murdered by these same people.
So let's change the law, and do away with the red tape and streamline the system. I want to see the Easy Button to a Firing Squad!
Good on Nebraska. I've never been a proponent of the death penalty.
I would say, however, that "Life in Solitary" should be added to available sentences since a prisoner who is sentenced to life needs to still have something worse hanging over their head or they are essentially free to do what they want in prison.
Through Due Process, Yes
Well, what do you expect me to think then? You don't seem especially worried about innocent people going to death row, which leads me to one of two conclusions:
a)Innocent people aren't going to death row, or
b)It's no big deal for innocent people to go to death row
Which is it? If there's a third option I'm all ears.
